  1. Hi guys,

I'm doing a university mini project for my final year studying Law and have been asked to do a project in my International Law module, I decided to write about something that is of massive importance to me thus the question I am writing an answer for is (I had to think of the question myself),

'Were the Anti-Sikh Riots of 1984 in India a breach of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide'

I'm having issues however regarding sources for it with direct reference to it, such as statistics and reaction to the riots from other nations? I would be very grateful is somebody could send me some links to any type of sources which highlight statistics, articles, videos, pretty much anything that will assist me. Also if anybody knows of any books which may help me.

    Thank You

    WJKK WJKF

Excellent topic - i would strongly recommend you get in touch with Ensaaf - they've done and are still doing some really good work regarding this and i'm certain they will be able to direct you to the details/facts/figures you're looking for. Here is their website : http://www.ensaaf.org/

  2. I agree, I'm pretty sure Sant Jarnail Singh Ji wouldn't be against it at all either.

I too personally don't think its a bad idea.

On this very note: We also pay respects to baba banda singh bahudar pictures in nagar kirtan floats once you read his life, there are things he has done in his lifetime which may not aligned with Gurmat.

We all know what the dynamics were back then...after Baba Banda Singh Bahadar's Shaheedi, his close associates went on a anti-Gurmat path which we all accept. Even though Tat Khalsa were rightfully victorious, that didn't stop some Sikhs to continue in the character assasination of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur because 'he wasn't part of their jatha' - just in the same way we see it today about Sant Ji. Whatever Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's life prior to him becoming Sikh, i am a firm beliver that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur lived a life in accordance with Gurmat, and made amazing accomplishements for Sikhs in a very short space of time and gave the ultimate sacrifice with the blessing of Guru Gobind Singh Jee.

Rattan Singh Bhangu may have added his own version of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's life but i don't accept all of what he writes as we all have our own agenda's and i'm certain he did too. His writings should be studied and vichared as with all wrtings but not necessarily taken for gospal truth!

  3. The last talk i went to of Harinder Singh's was in Southall in June this year. He gave a very powerful talk and constantly referred to Sant Jarnail Singh as our Jathedar. But during the talk, he did also say that he didn't necessarily agree with Sant Jee on all his translations of Gurbani but never the less Sant Jee still was the Sikh Panths Jathedar.

So S1ngh, maybe you right? But as afew have stated...it will probably be best to ask him personally on his vichars.

  4. What are our so called channels up to. First Sikh Channel's pathetic debacle regarding Ofcom and using a presenter as their scapegoat. Today we have Sangat TV's coverage at Harimandir Sahib interviewing the like of Navjot Sidhu and Sonia Deol (Jaswinder Sidhu) as one of the presenters. Her father is not only a disgrace on the Punjabi community but a staunch Congress party supporter often pictured with the like of Karnail Cheema et al. She describes him as her rock so it is inevitable that his views have had some impact on her during her Sikh Story show. Keep her off the 'Sikh' media.

Totally agree...she looked a right old state on TV...the first thing my mum said when she saw her was "kidda ehne chatta kalariya hai"

  5. We can't carry SGGSJM from the corrupts to another better run Gurdwara?

Bro, the first approach shouls always be to approach the committee with pyaar...we should always give them an opportunity first. Hopefully some elders can approach the Gurdwara committee and educate on their wrong doing.

Nothings happened yet, so all can still be fixed...but with pyaar first!

  6. I've just received more information that this is no true as the case for Prof Bhullar was supposed to take place today but didn't as the judge was no present today.

From what i understand, today's court case was about giving the supreme court a affidativ but as the judge wasn't present, this did not happen.

    Apologies for any confusion caused!

JagtarSinghKhalsa, please keep us all informed of the status of Prof Sahib's case

  7. If the guy from manglacharan is trying to represent the shakti of chandi (female) with the statue of a goddess...then why doesn't he just worship her statue which he has (which i'm sure he does)? Guru Sahib taught us to worship chandi in the form of shashter alone!

Had that statue not been there...that video would have been sikk!

Yet another confused Santanist posing as a Sikh!

  8. But the lowest aspect of all of this for me personally is the lowly attention grabber - that being the naming of the event "D Day". Of course a "D Day" 'protest become awareness' event will grab attention, but i totally think this will be bad publicity due to the meaning of D Day to the British public. D Day is remembered by the British public on 6th June in commemoration of the D Day landings in the Battle of Normandy in 1944. I really dont know who it is that think up these ideas in the offices of Sikh Channel, but im surprised to see how little this point has been mentioned during this post. What if the British people started a protest against civil rights on the 13th April and called it Vaisakhi? How would we feel?!

I didn't even think of it like that. The name D Day is just wrong...end of!

We really have to become smart and get away from the mentality of: "i've said it now and i ain't backing down!"

GurpsSinghAujla raised some very valids points in his last post
