  1. I have a Cat called Tiggy Kaur (as registered at the Vets) and she is the most sweetest companion I could have...she was a stray that came in our back garden. She was really Skinny and looked like had been beaten up (Rib was broken) we called the RSPCA to pick her up but they didnt and 5 years on she is still here. I think of her as a blessing from WaheGuru cos she came into my life during a very Difficult period and when ever I do Paath or Simran she always comes and sits next to me...when she had kittens she used to bring them and make them listern too...was well sweet! She used to follow me to school and wait for me to come home again etc, and always is there when I am stressed or something...a stress relief when I stroke her lol

So yup I love my little Kitty blush.gif

And to think I used to be scared of cats and dogs before :|

  2. I love love love playing Football/Soccer! Used to play it loads before Uni, but havent kicked a ball in ages!

And I'm deadly in Tennis... espically in producing my "finishing move", though not very good with speed when it comes to serves. And really like playing Bowling. I'm okeyish at it but I get distracted and bored sipping on coke waiting for my turn and then I'm not "In the Zone" LOL.gif

Tried to get into the Uni teams for Tennis, Bowling and Archery! but they never got back to me :|

  3. Ok then :TH:

Sikhi Quiz rules: A member posts a question and the next person replies the right answer to that question and asks another question of his own...

please dont ask a ridiculously hard question to answer and if nobody knows the answer then any member can start off with a new question.

First Q: What are the names of the four Sahibzaday of Guru Gobind Singh Ji?

    The names were

Sant Baba Ajit Singh Ji, Sant Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, Sant Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Sant Baba Fateh Singh Ji

Second Question: Who built the Gurdwara Sri Hazur Sahib?

  4. No there wont be tents or individual rooms!

The boys and girls have seperate dorms, each camper get their own bed, so no need to sleep on the floor on the grass outside! For people in the UK, if you remember the TV show, 'Bad Lads Army' the army barracks used in that show was the site of last years camp. The dorm's camp sites are used by the army, and similar groups and so is of good quality!

Individual rooms aint too good an idea at camp, since the point is that you get sangat, and plus when people start getting up early in the morning and flickin on light switches it kinda encourages even the laziest amongst us to get up as well!

as i said this years campsite and facilities are great, especially the surrounding areas, the view is breathtaking!

have all the people interested sent their forms in? Spoke to someone yesterday and the forms are flooding in so get them in fast!!!!!!!

Last Questions...Is it shared showers then? Where all the guys are expected to shower together? like in Bad Lads Army!

Also what is the activilty schedule? What sports etc are thier being planned?

Sorry for annoying you with questions...I'm still trying to sell it to friends.

  5. What are the facilities like on Sikhi Camp? I went on the website and there was nothing about it! I mean is it a proper camp where people will be sleeping in Tents and stuff? how many people per tent/room etc? Any Info will be a help! Thanx in advance!

  6. To get more youths into the Gurdwara I think the main thiing is we need is a friendly welcoming sangaat!

Cos most of my Sikh friends have been verbally attacked for doing something that is against that particular Gurdwara's procedures i.e before entering any room you gotta wash hands etc A Gurdwara in Southall, Havelock Street, bought my mum to tears cos they all just shouted at her for eating Prashad in the Langaar room they seemed more focused on others than listerning to Gurbani, and A women on my last visit there wacked me with a big spoon and chucked a glass on the side, which landed in my Dhaal :|, I think she was having a bad day! But its my local Gurdwara at Uni...I gotta bare the mad sangaat there :/

And my female friends say they are not comfortable with old men staring at them...cos the tend to hang at enterances or in the Langaar room gossiping! I once went Gurdwara with my sister and all the bibya started telling my mum that her daughter was hanging with "a boyfriend" etc...My Sister ended up getting Shitaar cos My mum didnt beleive her that it was me...she dont go much anymore!

So I think if a Gurdwara provides a welcoming atmosphere, which is contributed to by the sangaat, then youths like my friends will feel more comfortable going!

Also all my Uni mates love doing Simran...but we feel more comfortable doing it away from the Gurdwara, cos our local Gurdwara doesnt really have programmes of these sort, except for once a month for kids who play instruments.

Oh and Bani translated to English is a good thing! I would have gone most life without having a clue what was being said, I speak Fluent punjabi but Gurmukhi I never understood, by reading in English I am now starting to slowly pick up Gurmukhi, every Gurdwara should introduce these projectors...

and those that say parents should teach kids Gurmukhi...I come from a traditional punjabi background and most of my elders in the family struggle to understand Gurmukhi or as I have found out recently dont fully understand the meaning...So how are parents gonna teach if they dont even know. I think most people on the forum come from the above average religious family...but alot of people I know are in the same boat as me.

Sorry if I offended...and the sorry about the rambling I love going Gurdwara but the sangaat does really put you off A white friend of mine once went with me and a women said "did you just come for the food?". I've had bad experiences!

    Okey Rant over!

  7. d_oh.gif

WOW... I was at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara on friday and went to the Ashford Rd gurdwra on Saturday.. both days were totally amazing.

    Anyone record it?

I got an hours worth of Recording from Ashford Road Gurdwara (before battery gave way) but didnt have a stand with camera and you kinda get a headache from watching it cos my hand Kept wobbling so much lol!

I was there at the both Gurdwara aswell and it was brilliant!

Any body know of any future Visits to the UK by her?

  8. Could you also say its become a habit for some people with little or no religious significance? Is it a requirement to always put money in the Golak? Can something else like food be given instead to Guru Ji and in that way the money wont be avaiable to go creating these halls where meat etc is served?

  9. I just wanted to ask why do we put money in the Golak? It might be a obvious answer but it escapes me at the moment, I mean whats the religious significance of it? and what is the money used for?
