  1. Text of letter sent by Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Hitchin. Other Gurdwaras, please feel free to copy.

Dear Sangath and Management committee of Grays Gurdwara

We are writing as we have received disturbing news that you have decided to hold a function/party later in the week, which will involve alcohol and meat consumption on the premises of the Gurdwara Sahib. Whilst we would never get involved or try to influence in the running of any Sikh establishment, we have no choice but to raise our concern with regards to this decision in the strongest way as we feel it goes against the teachings of our Guru’s and desecrates the sanctity of our Guru Granth Sahib.

We would humbly request that you urgently reconsider this decision, as this will be sending a message that is contrary to the teachings of our beloved Sikh Faith.

We as Sangat and management committee of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Hitchin pray that the teachings of our Guru’s will prevail in you making the right decision.

    Yours Faithfully

    Sangath/Committee/Trustees of SGSSH

  2. Latest from Facebook below. Jagtar Singh - can you please confirm?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

Over a period of 2-3 weeks Sikhs up and down the country have lobbied their MP to voice deep concerns on the proposed hand searches of the Dastaar at EU Airports.

The Sikh Federation contact over 650 MPs over a two day period to inform them of the Airport authorities interpretation of recent EU Regulation. This was in addition to sustained lobbying of senior Ministers and the high profile media campaign.

The result of this is that the Secretary of State for Transport has delayed the implementation of hand searching the Dastaar and the Department of Transport will work with Sikh organisations to arrive to a fairer outcome.

The lobby which was planned to take place tomorrow 30 June at 1pm is now postponed for the time being until the Department of Transport can offer a better alternative. If the right outcome is not reached we will put into motion preperation for another lobby date

We will keep you updated of progress, many thanks to those of you who contacted your MP.

  3. BUMP

Bhai Harbaljit Singh Ji Batale Wale will also be doing Akhand Keertan in the Raensbaee.

As well Birmingham/Coventry, transport also being arranged from Southall. Please call Bhai Satnam Singh Ji to book your place on the Southall coach.

SANGAT coming from the NORTH on the M1: ignore your Sat Nav and come off on Junction 10 (Luton Airport). This way you avoid the narrow country roads.

Jee Aiyaan Noo to Hitchin! :)

  4. Bhai Niranjan Singh Jee is at Park Avenue everyday this week from 5.30pm to 6.30pm until Saturday 18 April. On Sunday 19 April, their keertan at Park Avenue will be at 4pm.

Bhai Sahib Jee will also be at Singh Sabha Gurdwara Hitchin on Sunday 19 April from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

That's it for this current tour but they will be back in England in July for the Guru Nanak Sikh School programme on 17, 18 and 19 July.

  5. The Gurdwara recordings and pics will also be uploaded shortly to Chaupaisahib.org

Thanks to all Sangattan who came from far and wide to this Smaagam.

Guru Maharaaj did Beant Kirpa, in that the Rauls were oversubscribed across the 5 Pothiaan. Each Sangat member had to be restricted to an hour/thirty minutes so that all could have Haajree in this Seva.

With Guru Jee's Kirpa and enthusiasm of the Sangat, we hope to have more Jaaps soon :D
