    Dear all.

I have a currently doing Martial Arts, in which there is a lot of close quarter sparring/grappling etc.

I was wondering if I am allowed to remove my Kara when undertaking such activities. I wonder if anyone could help.

    many thanks

Nope, just wear a smaller thin one. or u can get a wristband like th ones tennis players wear and cover your Karra

  3. ahh damn alot of singhs are gonna miss it because 300 programme at hazoor sahib at same time

isti not possible to move it forward by a week?

i personally know 20 ppl who wanna go bout in india at the time

sorry veerji, unfortunately posters have been printed and gone out, FA and Wolves FC have been confirmed as have Guru Ka Langar, venue etc.

anyway, I know where i'd rather be, India with you guys. We will just haved to do our best to make this a sucess for the rest of us that cant go to Hazoor Sahib.

Have a good time and post pics when u get back.

  4. how is this event celebrating 300 years? just a question?

Hopefully by getting youths together to have some good fun, in a safe environment, under the banner of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Also, by raising money for Promise Dreams charity http://www.promisedreams.co.uk/ at the same time.

When we celebrate our own birthdays, marriages and births of our children we throw big parties and events for everyone to attend and share our joy, so why not celebrate 300 years of Gurugaddi of our Guru Ji by having some good competitive fun and rasie some money for a good cause.

Hopefully we will attract youths that may not go to the Gurdwara on this auspicious occasion, and we can educate them about what 300 years is all about.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

  5. Fateh Ji!

Daas i s looking to find out whether and comparative studies/ reports have taken place regarding the Dastaar and the Helmet?

It is something that interests daas, and if feasible, daas would be willing to fund such a study if none have been carried out so far - something that could prove invaluable to the never ending Dastaar/Motorbike cases that seem to spring up...

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

  6. WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA

    WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

I need all of ur views on name DEEDAAR KAUR for a newly born baby ( my uncle's daughter )

Some old minded people who belongs to pend ( villages in india ) dnt really appreciate this name because they think this name sounds very old like puriania budian wala name.

But i really like this name and indian trend is to keep names with suffix like preet, meet, jeet, jot, inder, deep, meet etcetc

but i have seen many gursikhs in west countries are changing this trend and choosing very puratan names which are unique these days and not common like the names we have.

    the names like

    kudrat singh

    gurparsad singh

    kirpa singh

    etc

    etc

the name DEEDAAR is actually a synonym of name darshan which is very common name.

the word DEEDAAR also comes in many gurbani lines

    like

this is such a rare word which comes only 11 times in SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB, mostly the word dashan comes

4 times used by BHAI NAND LAL SINGH JI in the GAZALS, he recited in praise of GURU GOBIND SINGH JI

and only 1 time used by GURU GOBIND SINGH JI

here are the gurbani lines contaning this word

  7. There's a guy on a stool at my local market who turned around and said 'waheguruji ka khalsa wahegurujiki fateh' to me when I went to buy a shawl. Then he starts talking in half hindi and half punjabi...he said he used to work in Haryana in the market place and loved it...he misses speakin in 'hinjabi' so he stands there singin songs to himself all day hahaha

I worked for a bank at one time and they had a stand at the Mega Mela at the NEC (this is going way back now) and as i was Sikh, was asked to attend the baknks stand. I was attending with a gori who worked at one of the banks baranches in a very asian area so knew punjabi quite well. Anyway, the gori and I were walking in the Mela to the shop to get some food and a couple of indian girls were walking past us and one of them rudley bumped into the gori while her mate was muttering, "Kidha gori naal firda" and gave me a pretty dirty look, which i thought was quite funny (I love it when people judge on appearances, its so silly), but my friend the gori heard and turned around to them and said "thuhanoo ki aa, sapp larrda" (or something along those lines, was a while ago and cant remember the exact words now), and you should have seen the look on the indian girls faces, it was sooooo funny.

Moral of the story, dont judge on apperances..!

  8. Good on him, saw his fathers interview on tv. but sad how a country of more than a billion can only produce 1 gold medal in like every 20 years.

My man smashed it, best shot in the world. he did good.

    plus on the bbc news site it says;

"Reports said that the shooter's family had organised prayers ahead of his contest in Beijing.

"We are very proud of our son. He has done a great thing for the country. We will be rushing to [the capital] Delhi to receive him when he returns on Thursday," news agencies quoted his mother Babli Mishra telling reporters.

Mrs Mishra said the family would visit Punjab's famous Golden temple to "pay obeisance for his success".

Good on his folks, they going to Harmandir Sahib.

  9. Thanks, Sewa. That'll be a 'maybe' on the list! :)
My mum was telling me that Guru Gobind Singh Ji's horse (well, passed down generations) is kept near Sri Hazur Sahib. Does anybody know the name of where it is kept?

    Anyone? :)

Its got to be a must not 'maybe'. just kiddin, but it is one of the main gurdwara that all the tour companies take you to when visiting Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib. http://sikhiwiki.com/index.php/Bidar gives you a little more infor on this wonderful place, and the water that comes from the spring is still so sweet.
