  1. haha dont worry, i had windows 98 until last year.

    shabad meaning...

That humble being who is imbued with the Immaculate Naam

that person who forever does naam jaap, paath, sewa simran etc

O Nanak, is himself the Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny

(guru) nanak (says), such a person becomes godly like in their ways. i dont think mahraj literally meant we will become god, but our actions will become more godly like.

Without meeting the True Guru, the Naam cannot be found.

naam can be interpretated as another word for peace, naam could refer to amrit but i am assuming here naam is another name for peace. other tuks i can think of are "naam bina sabh duniya chaar" (without the name, the world is an illusion).

if we think about it, how much peace do we get at times when we say "waheguroo"?

so i would say its another name for peace. remember, SGGS was not made just for sikhs, it was something that people from different religions could turn to. And so, by reciting other names such as "aum", "allah" etc, other people find peace.

From my limited knowledge i believe that "naam" is another word for peace.

  2. can anyone help me answering these 4 essdays, theres 10 in total, just these four i am a bit stressing out over.

    1. It is often been observed that labour supply is not very responsive to tax changes. Why might this be the case?

    2. How does the theory of intertemporal choice and investment suggest that investment in education will be affected by "ability"?

    3. The consumption of highly paid professionals such as lawyers and novelists, fluctuate less from year to year than their incomes. Why is this?

    4. Will an increase in interest rates neccessarily increase saving? Explain

  3. i think if you do economics, i would prob say rab bhala kare. I actually do something quite similiar to HGM, i do economics and psychology at edinburgh uni and im in 3rd (im doing more psychology modules). I didnt really enjoy the economics in 2nd year uni. There was alot of maths involved. It is totally different to the a level economics you get.

But, although there are people who will advise you on doing the course, my personal view would be that you consider

    a) how well you do in a levels economics

    b) how well you do in a level maths (although you dont neccesarily need a level maths to do economics at uni, it is strongly reccomended), or if not, how well you did in GCSE maths

    c) also how well you can grasp new terminology and new formulae. Right now im kinda struggling.

    thats my 2 pence anyway

  4. i know it sounds like a daft q but....

just wandering, when is the 300years gurgaddi divas?

i was at the celebrations in loughborough, but i dont know...for some reason it doesnt feel like a gurpurab today. theres nothing on alpha to show coverage from hazoor sahib, they did no ardas to commemorate the 300years, there was no jaloe sahib.

so how come, harmandir sahib hasnt celebrated the 300 years (which i thought was today)?

  5. yes they are here till sunday. i just got my cousin to talk to a singh who said he may be able to record (mahraj kirpa), but the more paath there is, the better so yes singhani, please can ou also try and record the asa di vaar keertan.

i wander if they can do sehaskriti keertan by any chance? (if requested)

  6. came from birmingham to stay down a cousins house. we went to the gurdwara today in the morning and i heard the most amazing shabad keertan in my entire life, straight from the heart. i wanted to ask the sangat if anyone could record the asa di vaar keertan by the singhs that are currently staying at east park road gurdwara until this sunday and then upload it onto the internet. its something i have never heard/felt so much shardha in my life!

does anyone know who they are? where are they from? any recordings of these singhs online anywhere?

  7. it seems odd that a guy is going around saying he is "baba jaswant singh jalandher wale", surly if he was making a school in india, he would not be using £1000+ for a ticket to come to the UK, instead he would prob hold a few smagams in india where he could raise the money. surly the local guru ghars would mention this baba and say what his intentions were to the sangat if he was panthic.

anyway, one of the main guru ghars have reported a baba doing this. so if theres any sangat in leicester, you have been warned about this baba.

he may strike in any town so sangato please be aware.

  8. Ok just found out:

THIS BABA IS A FAKE, THERE WAS AN ANNOUNCEMENT AT ONE OF THE MAIN GURU GHARS IN LEICESTER ORDERING SANGAT NOT TO GIVE MONEY TO HIM. IT IS A SCAM!

IF YOU SEE A BABA IN YOUR AREA WITH A WHITE GHOL DASTAAR, THICK BROWN GLASSES, SNOW WHITE DHARA, QUITE FAIR SKINNED,TALL, WITH TWO CHELE (WHO ARE QUITE DARK), WALKS AROUND WITH A MAALA IN HIS HAND AND APPEARS TO TRY AND ENTER YOUR HOUSE, THEN BENTI TO SANGAT NOT TO GIVE MONEY TO THIS BABA.

    HE SHOULD BE HUNTED DOWN!

  9. the title may be a little misleading, but just something strange a relative told me just now.

A baba has been seen in the quiet streets of leicester asking for money, he goes by the name of baba jaswant singh jalandher wale and has come from india going door to door asking people for money in order to make some sort of ashram school with a prominent charity of some sort.

im not sure if the sangat of leicester know of a baba coming from india doing this? if its been announced at the local guru ghars? but he does seem to know punjabi houses within the areas he has visited. he has also been seen with 2 chelai. apparently he almost tried to invite himself into my relatives house as well? seems a bit dodgey to me.

so, a little strange incident i was told of today. just out of curiosity, who is this baba jaswant singh jalandher wale? and does anyone else have similiar experiences to share?
