but i tink a big thnk u needs 2 go 2 4 people who spent a lot of time an effort in2 this kirtan darbar-sukhninder singh,amarpreet singh,vanita kaur and sulinder singh.these guys came early 2 prepare.mani n suki n vanita prepared the darbar and cleaned it and vanita and her dad (sulinder uncle ji) made the pizzas n paid 4 the ingredients n stuff them selves-they were yummy lol!

without maharajs beloved kirpa and his beloved gursikhs this kirtan darbar would not have been possible so i just wana say thnks 4 evryting especially 2 sulinder uncle and vanita kaur who slaved away making pizzas all evening.you guys truly are amazing and ur :awesome -maharaj has blesed daas with such wikid sangat

Gutka should be kept in a high place when not doing paath and covered in rumalla.

Hands must be washed propaly with soap up to your elbows (included your kara or nething you are wearing) at least 3/4 times including the tap. After washing your hands you mustnt touch anything else to keep sucham. Wear a hazooriya to keep your hands suche, one sucha side and one joota side (when u need to open a door or something).

When reading from your gutka you should sit in a higher place if anybody else in the room (i.e bed or even chair). Your gutka should still be covered with your rumalla while reading and if you have one, use a rail (gutka stand).

say phatehi when opening your gutka sahib, you are saying phatehi to maharaj. When reading bani do not touch anything else (face, feet, floor etc) and also do not follow the bani with your finger when reading. this is satkaar for bani.

sorry for any mistakes, plz correct me if i am incorrect or left anything out. im suprised nobody has replied to this post but when it comes with the bakwaas posts loads of ppl reply to it.... hmm oh wells eh.

yh and whereever ur sitting-be it on floor or sofa or bed etc, u shud have a clean sheet placed on top, only for wen u reading gurbani

if ur sitting on bed u shud b facing the direction in which ur pillows are in 4 satkaar of bani and if u got gutkas in ur room then dont place dem sumwhere ur feet will be facing wen ur sleeping or near stuff like tvs n that.try n put dem in highest place possible

to answer the first question, there is no way whatsoever that the fact the 4 saahibjaaday were shaheed influenced Guroo Saahib making Satguroo Sree Guroo Granth Saahib Jee our everlasting True Guroo. Guroo Naanak Dev Jee said themselves that the Shabad is the Guroo and we can see countless times that all of our Guroo Saahibs gave reference to the importance of Baanee and Baanee being the Guroo from ANG (Limb) 1 to 1430.

and also with regards to the person who made the statement that Guroo Gobind Singh Jee is not Akaal Purakh - this is a ridiculous statement (IN MY EYES). For me i see no difference - why.. because the jot (light) of Akaal Purakh resides within our beloved Guroo Saahib and thus means they are one and the same. I could delve deeper but im sure there are more learned Gursikhs out there who could delve deeper than me so please feel free to do Gursikhoo!

The starter of the thread is actually my cousin. She has been looking for an English version of the GGS. She came to me and was baffled as to why this was written:

-guru sahib is not a book.

-one cannot "buy" guru sahib with money. money is given as bheta (offering). ideally, to cover costs of whichever sevadaar has done the seva.

She never called it a "book" and like it or not people do "sell" them for a set price, even in Gudwaras (unfortunately the one's she has seen up north are not good quality, with dodgy English translation) for in the region of £100. If she caused offence by asking where to get one and how much money etc, then of course, use sense to see this IS not deliberate. Please use common sense instead of, attacking someones wording. If you really are incensed by this, then you should contact Gudwara's asking then to stop doing this, rather than putting the blame on a girl.

I of course, am not supporting the fact that this happens.

I am from Punjab and have my own traditional copy which i read regulary but British Sikhs like my cousin cannot read the traditional script. I am glad she is looking to read more, but we are both baffled by this "Superiority complex" some people on SikhSanget have, i dont get it.
