Thank you ALL for your points of view and opinions. I have sent the link to this post to my friend and i'll see what he says/thinks. I personally still stick by what i think, that speed dating is wrong and by using the pre-fix 'Sikh' to promote (what I think is) a non-sikh activity is wrong also. Just because its getting harder to find the 'right' partner doesnt mean you have to resort to such anti-sikhi activities. As we all know, in everyones life things get difficult, but its just a test from Waheguru, and to see who stays strong and who resorts to the 'easy (and wrong) way out'

I have just heard that around the UK there are events called 'Sikh' speed dating services. people can meet up and speed date i guess. they actually advertise the event as 'Sikh speed dating', where 'Sikhs' can meet and speed date. a friend of mine says its harmless because you only meet people and talk, no numbers are exchanged. i dont care what people do in thier spare time, but i personally dont think the word 'Sikh' should be used. but my friend says whats wrong with using 'Sikh'. the people there are Sikh, they might not be perfect Sikhs, but they are Sikhs. I think using the term Sikh to promote an activity which (I think) is anti-Sikhi is wrong.

I just want the sangats opinion on this issue, and what i should say to my friend, and what should be done about such things.

Seems like if there is any problems affecting the panth from outside, then its all guns blazing. but if its from within the panth, then lets just say it takes a little more time for some reason

What can we do to put a stop to such activities? No point doing protests etc, cuz its happening in India, and they can gear us over there! I'm not putting a dampener on things, i'm seriously asking wat can we do? who to write to, email etc.

Madeleine McCann's family believe a new picture of the missing four-year-old could play a vital role in the search for her.

I'm sure every1 will agree that if we (monae, kesdhari, amritdhari) were better Sikhs and lived up to what the Khalsa is all about then all these problems and issues wouldnt even exist.

Also the UK does not look down on mane, cuz if that was the case then I wouldnt of found Sikhi.

Good luck to everyone in becoming the Sikhs we all want to be, and then maybe we can start a post talkin about these problems in the past tense.

I can give it loads. all these problems u state are real and do need sortin out. Dont think i'm some kind of locked up Singh who hides his head in the sand, cuz i aint. i told u i did all that stuff u on about. U say Sikhs are nufin! Your a joke for even sayin that!!! u sayin people laughin at us and we got no respect. why? one reason IS cuz of those issues u raised, but wat about all the rest of it, u sayin girls on drugs and stuff, well who providin those drugs (especially in b'ham). dont think ur gonna get respect for paki bashin, gettin charged and putting on a khanda armband and (like i sed b4) fightin for the cause. U wanna sort these probs out? then become khalsa, become one of the Singhs. its easy to chat about mans, but why dont u become one and live it instead of chattin it. thats wat i'm doin, i was like u once, all vexed at the kaum and '<admin-profanity filter activated>' Singhs. now i aint nowhere near perfect, but at least i'm doing something about it. I've been that mona who drinks and fights people 'for the cause', and now that i'm kesdhari, I know which one i feel is the harder and requires the most courage. it aint the ruck u have outside a club or pub, but its the daily discipline needed to keep rehat and take slack, not only from people from other faiths but from your own aswell. So i been there and done that.
