  1. Thanks for the link! The donations are for the film company. Is there a direct way you can send money to the colony itself?

Any Delhi Singhs on this website? If so, maybe you can help us with trying to get funds to the people who need them.

With all this jathebhadis set up around the world, does anyone know how a person in UK can give some of his daswand to organisations like this? It's all good and well raising awareness, but if we are expecting a reaction of support than there needs to be more highlighting of ways of supporting families of shaheeds. No one seems to mention these things at the remembrance programmes at Hyde Park or trafalgher square.

    Anyone able to help?

This one paragraph letter from Vedanti is not worth the paper its printed on. This "matta" has not got the approval of the Panj Takht Jathedars, has not been agreed by the Akal Takht Panj Pyare and is in complete contradiction to Rehit Maryada documentation.

For this to be a valid prerequiste for marriage then everyone will have to take amrit before an anand karaj. Even those who are amritdhari because there is no evidence for then being Sikh. Being Sikh is not identified by your passport LOL its the roop and jeevan Guru Gobind Singh has precribed. Read the Rehit Maryada document. If the passport has Singh or Kaur but the bride or groom trim their hair, doesn’t that go against the Akal Takht Rehit Maryada aswell??

The Akal Takht Maryada of agreeing and passing resolutions is not a one man decision. The letter would have refered to the document or article within the Rehit Maryada where it has been decided that Singh/Kaur on a driving license or passport is required, or it will refer to the day and time when the 5 Jathedars met and the agreed outcomes from that meeting.

The articles relating to the requirement that both the bride and the groom have to be Sikhs to be married by Anand Karj ceremony are already there in the document of Rehat Maryada. To stop the infringement of the articles of Rehat Maryada, no hukamnama needs to be agreed upon all over again. Each Takht Jathedaar can announce measures by himself (without the OK from all other Takht Jathedars) to stop the infringement of Rehat Maryada. Remember, the Articles in Rehat Maryada were formed by Sarab Khalsa The Jathedars are simply seening that the Maryada is being followed. Each Takht and its Jathedar is bound to see that Rehat Maryada is followed. (However, they do overlook occasional infringement). If there are repeated infringements, any one of the Jathedar can issue the type of letter shown there. To avoid making conflicting statements the other Takhts seemed to have given that responsibility to the Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The do not need to get together to issue such a statement.

The letter from Sri Akal Takht Sahib reminds all Gurdwaras what the rules are and that these rules should be followed. (However I do note that the Jathedar did not say what the punishment would be if the Rehat Maryada is not followed. In deciding the punishment, perhaps he would feel more comfortable if all the Jathedars decide that collectively)

So there in no need to have a document in the form of Hukamnama. The Hukamnamma in the form of Rehat Maryada articles already exists. This letter by Jathedar Vidanti, is making the people that are conducting the Anand Karj ceremony aware of its existence

Regarding including the Kaur or Singh in the name, this requirement has been followed by SGPC and DGMC (at the recommendation of the Takhat Jathedars; I assume), to certify a person that he/she is a Sikh ( in addition to making a statement that he/she is a follower of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the other things required of a Sikh) This is currently being followed when a candidate is seeking admission to the Sikh minority professional college run by SGPC and DGMC. So I assume that it could have been agreed upon sometime back and most Sikhs may not be aware of it.

    .

I totally agree with the top part of the letter being a re-itteration of Rehit Maryada. The letter then moves into the realms of proving your Sikhi via your official documents. The only way that can be policed if all bride and grooms produce their documents at Gurdwaras. However this is not a sign of being Sikh, that is by deed and action and physical apperance. It is hard to believe that one Jatherdar will take such a major decision about how Sikhs identify themselves without consultation.

There is no doubt the beadbi of the Anand Karaj is big problem. However the beadbi is our making and needs real fixes rather than passports and driving licences.

I agree that a Jathedar can release letters educating people on Rehit Maryada but they cannot make statements about proving your Sikh status with passports and driving licences without the agreement of the Panth. Proving your Sikhi with official documents is no small decision and it does not exist in practice (expect in a college to get entrance). Vendanti's letter has no value and is being manipulated as a protocol.

  3. Dear Satsangat Jee, I don’t know what the hell you all are saying ” give beatings to the jathedar of the Sikh kaum “ “a one man decision” what is this ????? The hukumnama is issue so that all sikhs should and must follower ONE track ONE path ONE road ONE way ONE direction!!!!!! and this kind of people who don’t want to follow this hukum "Royal Order." There are the ones who direct or indirectly are responsible for the Petrol bombing cars and all of this nonsense . they don’t want to see sikh working together always don’t want to compromise.

This is not a royal order. Its a letter from Vedanti, which is being sold as a hukamnama.

When did a passport or driving licence become a document from which we can be confident that someone is a Sikh? Forget about amrit, all you need is a passport with Singh as a middle name and you are Sikh, can it get any easier?

    Waheguru Jee

Dear akaash (singh or Kaur) Jee , when a AkaalTakht Jathedar send a hukumnama it is pass by everyone before its send out it is NOT “a one man decision” or even the AkaalTakht Jathedar send this Hukumnama it is a official document for the sikh. Look and find out the definition of AkaalTakht Jathedar.

If Guru Gobind Singh Jee comes himself, you are not going to be happy and say it’s only one Guru all the ten guru should be there . If you have a problem with the Hukumnama then question the Akaal Takht

    Waheguru jee

Brother, firstly this is not a hukamnama. It does not have the official seal of Sri Akal Takht. Secondly the text of the hukamnama will specify the point that if anyone goes against this matta then they will be subject to a sentence from the Akal Takht. Also hukamnamas will have the text that 5 Singh Sahibs have agreed to this.

Also this is not a Sandesh because that will always reaffirm Sikh Rehit Maryada or give a time day location of the Panj Jathedar decision.

This letter is contradictory as the first part is like a reiteration of Rehit Mayada were only a Sikh can marry a sikh, but then to prove you are a sikh with official documentation, when was that introduced? It affects the Worldwide Sikh Population. The biggest impact being in Punjab.

It is a baseless letter. Even Akal Takht have a protacol. Thats all I am highlighting, nothing has been adhered to in this letter.

To change you name by deed can be done over the internet:

    http://www.deedpoll.org.uk/

"Applying for your Deed Poll could not be easier. You can apply online, by post, by telephone or call in to our offices at Freebournes Court, Witham, Essex where you can collect or drop off your application forms or use our one-hour premium service"

Its not really a difficult thing to change your name and then change again after the job's done.

  6. i would say its brainwashing which leads to forced conversion, police isnt gonna agree with this because they dont think it happens.

    wat do u guys say?

    pull chuk marf

Present the evidence and the police will act. Rumours and hearsay are not evidence. Its time for the Gurdwara lecturers to present facts to government authorities.

unfortunatley its never that simple, imagine if your a girl who hs been drugged and pictures have been taken , you are told that if you do not do what they say they will post your pictures and videos on the internet and to all your friends and family , woul dyou stroll down to the police station ??? how much besti is that ??? It's pyschplogical manipulation.

This is one kind scenario, what about others? Its about gathering evidence. Police have dealt with many similar cases outside of this conversion issue. They can handle issues sensitively. Once police have gathered evidence they will persue cases themselves.

  7. thankyou all for your comments. I have begun work on a small booklet to hand out at gurdwaras to help educate the youth. I am currently trying to write how sikhism is unique and differs from hinduism and islam. I think this section is very important. I was wondering if anybody has any essays/articles on this, which i could use to help write this section?

Sikhism is unique. It doesnt need a critique with other religions. Who can you compare Guru Granth Sahib Ji to??

    Dharam isnt a brand label.

Taxi driver Gian Chand Bajar was run over by his own vehicle

    Arrest after taxi driver killing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a Kent taxi driver who was run over by his own cab.

Police were called to St Benedicts Avenue, in Gravesend, on Wednesday night after reports Gian Chand Bajar, 71, had been assaulted and run over.

The taxi was later found abandoned after it had been set alight in nearby Truro Road.

Officers said a 20-year-old man from the Gravesend area was arrested on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier, police said they had not ruled out whether the murder of Mr Bajar, who lived locally, was racially motivated.

Mr Bajar, who was married with five children, has been described as a loved and well respected member of the Sikh community.

His son, Telu Bajar, 35, of Darnley Road, Gravesend, described his father as "a pillar of the community".

He said: "He had very high morals and was very trusted by the people in our area. We're devastated. It was a cruel and callous crime.

"He sadly had his retirement cut short which deprived his family of a loving, caring father and grandfather."

Mr Bajar worked on a self-employed basis for Saturn Taxis in Gravesend.

Alan Meen, who lives in St Benedicts Avenue, was one of the first on the scene just after 2200 BST on Wednesday, and said he found Mr Bajar with "burn marks" on his arms from the car's exhaust.

    'Quiet area'

"I put some blankets over him, put a blanket underneath his head, and waited for the ambulance," he recalled.

Another resident, George Tarling, 70, said the area was "generally very quiet" with no major crime problems.

"But I have heard of people asking taxi drivers to drop them off round here and then making a run for it without paying," he said.

The local Conservative MP for Gravesham, Adam Holloway, urged the killer to surrender to police.

"That person should be in custody as soon as possible.

"If you are the <banned word filter activated> that did this, you better go to the cops right now."

    'Shock and anger'

In the wake of the killing, taxi drivers held a meeting with local police to highlight concerns about their safety.

Bruce Parmenter, Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesman for Gravesham and a taxi driver for 11 years, said there had been two attacks on drivers in St Benedicts Avenue in the past 18 months.

"My opinion is that this was a tragic incident that was bound to happen because police are not tackling crime.

"I'm sorry to say that this murder was not unexpected... there is shock, anger and disbelief among taxi drivers around here today," he said.

Taxi drivers will be balloted on industrial action with a view to striking next weekend if 100% of those who take part support a walkout.

Ch Supt Gary Beautridge appealed for witnesses and said the murder was a matter for the police to resolve.

"This is not an issue where individuals or groups should take the law into their own hands," he said.

  11. The bottom line was that the happenings at Smethwick were rival Gangs who had previous hatred for each other. The outcome was just like anyother fight between two groups. There was no Dharamic stance because it was the corrupt leading the corrupt.

If these lot could put out their kirpans so easily then I guess the greatness of Bhai Kanhaiya would not come to their mind. Their cause was hatred for each other and it has and will destroy them.

  12. the thing is since a good number of sikhs are monas you cant go isolating them by abusing them

one must remember bhai nand lal

Guru Gobind Singh was pleased with seva by Bhai Dala and told him to ask for anything he wanted. Bhai Dala asked to have a place in Guruji's Charan in Sachkhand. Guruji refused and said ask for anything else from riches to raj to Mukti. However Bhai Dala only wanted a place in Guruji's charan. Guru Gobind Singh Ji said to him that only Amritdharis can have this blessing.......Bhai Dala took amrit immediately.

Its that simple. Guruji blesses the whole world but to be close to guruji you must follow his way.

  13. UK Gurdwaras Insult Guru Sahib by promoting Naamdhari Cult

    Wednesday 21st of February 2007

    Panthic Weekly News Bureau

United Kingdom - Earlier this month, Panthic Weekly exposed (see Naamdharis Performing Keertan at Gurdwaras) the intentional distortion of Gurbaani by Naamdhari Keertanis who are currently touring the UK after members of the UK Sangat who heard their Keertan highlighted the beadbi. Naamdhari Baljeet Singh and Gurmeet Singh misread a word in Aasa Ki Vaar. When challenged by two Sikh ladies sitting in a UK Gurdwara where these Keertanis were performing Keertan they justified their beadbi (violation) of Gurbaani by saying that their "Guru" (referring to Jagjit Sinh) said that "phaaray" (torn) as stated in Aasa Ki Vaar in Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee is actually "pehiray" (worn).

Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji's eldest son Sri Ram Rai had needless enmity with the eight and ninth Gurus and appointed his own Masands. He changed a line in the holy Gurbani just to please the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, changing "Mittee musalmaan kee…" (soil is of the Muslim…) to "Mittee beimaan kee…" (soil is of the deceitful…). The seventh Satguru discarded Sri Ram Rai from the house of the Guru forever, because he altered Gurbani. Satguru said:

"Those who do not fear and respect Gurbani, cannot be a Sikh of mine."

    (Sri Guru Partap Suraj Granth)

We must remember Seventh Nanak, Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji, disowned his own son and excommunicated him from the Panth after he intentionally distorted one word from Gurbani. However, today's Gurdwara Management Committees are allowing those who don't believe Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji should be on the throne of Guru Nanak, who believe that their self-proclaimed Satguru is the 15th incarnation of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, practice Havans and Bipran Kee Reet, and intentionally distort a word in Gurbani to perform Keertan on our Gurdwara because they have knowledge of Gurmat Sangeet.

Does knowledge of Gurmat Sangeet and Raag give one license to perform Keertan irrespective that they are corrupt fraudsters who believe intentionally and unapologetically distort Sikh history, Sikh principles and most seriously Gurbani, the Word of God? Anyone who allows Naamdharis to perform Keertan on the Gurdwara Stage is liable for the same punishment for allowing the followers of Ram Rai perform Keertan on the Guru's stage.

    Gurbani says:

Some sing of the Lord, through Raags (musical measures) and the sound current of the Naad, through the Vedas, and in so many ways. But the Lord, Har, Har, is not pleased by these, O Lord King.

    ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨਾ ਰੋਇ ਕਿਆ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

Those who are filled with fraud and corruption within - what good does it do for them to cry out?

    ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਰੋਗ ਹਥੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥

The Creator Lord knows everything, although they may try to hide their sins and the causes of their diseases.

O Nanak, those Gurmukhs whose hearts are pure, obtain the Lord, Har, Har, by devotional worship. ||4||11||18||

    (Ang 450)

Is the insult by Naamdharis towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee just limited to distortion of history, principles and Gurbani? No. In the 1940's the Naamdhari Guru Partap Singh started the practice called a 'Pattar Paath'. This was in imitation of the Gursikh Akhand Paath but what was particularly odious about it was that it entailed the Angs of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being torn out and then passed to a number of Paathis (Scriptural readers) and the Patah then being done at the same time by 10-15 people. As a result the Paath was completed in a few hours. Then these Angs were burnt! Sri Akaal Takht Sahib warned Partap Singh about this violation of the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. However, the 'Pattar Paaths' were only stopped after the Sikhs protested and Panthic Nihang Singhs threatened to kill Partap Singh.

The following UK Gurdwaras have advertised and promoted the Naamdhari Keertanis and therefore insulted Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by allowing the followers of self-proclaimed Satguru who claims to be the rightful owner of Guru Nanak's throne and who intentionally and unapologetically distort Gurbani in the presence of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji:

Central Gurdwara, Drayton Bridge Road, West Ealing

Guru Amar Dass Gurdwara, Clifton road, Southall

    Ramgharia Gurdwara, Oswald road, Southall

Guru Nanak Darbar, King Street, Southall

Guru Nanak Sikh School, Springfield Road, Hayes

Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Havelock Road, Southall

    Gurdwara Karamsar, High Road, Ilford

    Ramgarhia Gurdwara, Woodland Avenue, Slough

    Ramgaria Gurdwara, Foleshill Road, Coventry

Gurdwara Baba Sang, High Street, Smethwick

Gurdwara Babe Ke, Soho Hill, Hockley

A Sikh is one who owes sole allegiance to only Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Guru Khalsa Panth. May God bless the Gurdwara Sahib Management Committees with understanding so that they realize their mistake and beg for forgiveness from the Sikh Sangat in the presence of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Guru-Roop Panj Pyaare. May Guru Sahib and generations to come forgive us for welcoming and allowing such Manmat to prevail in the House of Satguru Nanak.

Its really assuring to see the beadbi squad ignoring this topic. After all Namdharis just stand for the fact that SGGS is a reference book and Guru Gobind Singh hid for 200 years.

Im sure there are more important issues like someone in Mongolia who might just say something bad about Sikhi!!

If people accept the fact that Niddar might be good at Shaster Vidya but his thinking is corrupt then why is it different when it comes to Namdharis? They might have raag knowledge but should that overide the fact that their beliefs in dehdhari gurus?

  14. I read this in gupt forum and felt that it should be brought to attention here, where it would be more widely read.

Bhai Baljit Singh Gurmeet Singh Namdhari – Distortion of Bani in our Gurdwaras

The last month has seen the arrival of prominent naamdhari keertania, Bhai Baljeet Singh Gurmeet Singh, to the UK. They have been performing at various guru ghars over this period of time and have achieved wide support from the sangat.

This is believed to be due to the fact that they

    1. Bow to Guru Granth Sahib Ji

    2. Say Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!

    3. Stand in the ardaas

Everyone has seemed to be lulled into a false sense that, maybe these guys are different from namdharis. Maybe they are different?

Sadly however this does not prove to be true. During Aasaa Dee Vaar, the naamdharis are guilty of distortion of gurbani on the tukh.

nIl bsqR ly kpVy pihry qurk pTwxI Amlu kIAw

neel basathr lae kaparrae pehirae thurak pat(h)aanee amal keeaa ||

Men began to wear blue robes and garments; Turks and Pat'haans assumed power.

The namdharis say PwVy In place of pihry

I went to an Aasaa Dee Vaar programme at the newly opened West Ealing Gurdwara on February 4th 2007, where Baljit Singh Gurmeet Singh were doing keertan.

Now when they got that specific tukh, Gurmeet Singh froze. The line was completely missed out. There was a silence of about 5 seconds, and Gurmeet Singh started an alaap on the next line.

Please find attached two audio files. One of an old naamdhari Aasa Dee Vaar recording, and the other, a recording from the 4th February 2007

Baljeet Singh Gurmeet Singh are going to be doing Aassa Dee Vaar for the whole of next week. Monday 5th – Friday 9th February from 5-6.30am, Saturday 8th – Sunday 9th – 6.30-8am.

Please go and see for yourselves.

If the fact that they are Namdharis who have no respect for the sovereignty of SGGS does make our people think then dont expect this manipulation of Gurbani to rock anyone's concious.

As their main made Jagjit once said "Sikhi is atta and Namdharis are the salt!" How more wrong and ignorant can Namdharis be......
