  1. Waheguru jio,

Here is a good modern example i heard from a singh.

There was a singh who had soo much pride in him. Says he can do anything remember this remember that. One day (btw hes a wannabe actor), his script writer told him that in this next film you only have 2 words to say. "Mai Hanuman Hu" when Ravan appears. So this person thinks to himself why do i have to practice. All i have to do is say these two words ... thats it... twos words... and i get my pay ... everyhthin is over ... done ... done ... done....

So the day comes... hes rdy to go on stage ... comes about ... hes rdy he says to himself... but when a big ravan came in front of him, declaring hes ravan king of lanka... he shakes and trembles and in stead of saying im hanuman... he says ... ohh sorry im jsut a normal human being please forgive me....

Not a bad example .. no ? I dont think i need to explain it any more... self explanatory ... rolleyes.gif

  3. Guru gobind singh je made us at point b

Khalsa Panth was made perfect, if we change the khalsa, we change what guru je made, and if we do that, we go against our guru

There is no further step past khalsa panth

It is the last step we need to take

To become khalsa and be firm in maryada

Reight has changed, i dont know why

    Reight shold never have changed

Who are we to change what guru je made? He makes everything perfect as he is perfect and his creation should never change, and neither should the khalsa

    vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw!

    vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!

The biggest problems about saying that we should not change (ie: the Khalsa should stay the way it is) are:

    1. The world DOES change.

Regardless of if we want it or not, the world around us does change. People of the Khalsa used to be primarily peasants... now they are computer programmers, physicists, engineers, doctors! Whereas before the Khalsa rode horses, swung swords... would any Singh win a fight like t

    hat today? Not likely.

    2. Many things that the original rehats have stated are now unclear

Unfortunately, many things get lost in the translation. Besides those who have achieved Waheguru, we commonfolk have no one to really ask what a given rehat means. (eg: In another post there was that issue about do not kill a black cow as present in the SGGS?...) The Akal Thakt rehat says that we cannot eat khatta meat... but does that include all meat? eggs? milk? The question that we have are endless... and unless it is defined for us, we don't know what to follow...

    Just my opinion!

    waheguru ji!

I will trry to answer to my best as possible... bul chuk if i do make any mistakes.

    1) Yes paaji your right the world does change. The world will always change. But we shouldnt change. Your right about fights what were faught in the past on horses and swords. But is what guru gobind singh ji told us to ride our horses and fight ... hmmm... swords yes... but not swords we call it ... siri sahib.. kirpan sahib... he gave us that and when we really really in the last defence we only then remove and only use it for defence for others and yourself. And about being more intelligent.. ask khalistan veerji already said education is good B)

    2) Yes many rehats we follow i do sometimes think about them to ... i noticed in the akal takht one it did say dat... hmmm ... :T: ... kept me thinking there. But you gotta remember that on

e was made in the 1900's by a few older men ... in fact all men ... (someone correct me if im wrong ji)... and so a few mistakes r in there that a lot would debate about. That is why we have all these new rehats !?

Can someone add to this point i would like to know more also ... rolleyes.gif

  4. Waheguru jio!

I was wondering why i didnt see a decent discussable topic on the forum and when i found one .. wahegruu... it came from a 14 year old boy. ^_^ Singh i am myself 20 years old also in brampton, if i know i would give u a biggg hug rolleyes.gif

LOL .. now dont think anythin weird. ANyway i fully support what your tryin to say. We should go by how guru ji made us, and shouldnt go through change, guru ji made us rite.. BUT ppl do go through change, and maybe dats da wrong path. But we have to stick wit the path which our gurus have gave us.

Everything nowadays are a distraction!! TVs, Music, Internet etc... If u my brother have done that, my name says it ... im ur daas.

Give some more teachings, some elders always say i learn from my children. The young soles always have the blessings ;)

  5. well gurdwara's are rollin in so much dough .. let them use their profits.

    i disagree with that completely...

the gurdwara is run on the power of sewadars... if sikhs have to pay ppl to come into the gurdwaras to clean them up the whole purpose of sewa is defeated, sikhs are suppose to be humble, one way to do this is to clean the washrooms...

    Waheguru ji

I totally agree wit u there paaji, and disagree wit sunny paajis comment before. Seva is a strong word that our gurus have gave to us ... and what can be the best seva then washing the toilets and washrooms. ^_^

Eventhough i havnt myself, i reli want to someday... i would reli encourage everyone to do dis seva, cuz not everywhere the washrooms r usually clean... ;)

What's so hard about using a kirpan properley. Take out the kirpan and use it you don't needd to be a gatka expert.

    lol!! EXACTLY!!!!!!!! :(

lol .. hold by the sharp end... ;)

sorry had to say dat... rolleyes.gif

  7. waheguru jio,

    Great post! And great questions!

First of all, OUR KIRPAN IS NOT A SYMBOL!

This has arisen many times and singhs have always constently said that dont call our kirpan, our shastr that guru sahib gave us a symbol.

A kirpan was given to us by guru sahib for self defence for us and for others! And only that and not to use at anytimes. We only pull out our siri sahib when ALL ELSE FAILS. When you are in a situation, guru kirpa dis doesnt happen, but when u r and u use all da skills u have well it be da karate u learned in high school, or the playful fights u have wit ur dad, when all else fails and u know u only see death in front of u, only then pull out your siri sahib.

And about the little kirpans, and the big ones, dont matter what the size is .. when guru does his kirpa on u that little 2 inch siri sahib of yours will turn into a very lethal weapon. ONLY IF, you dont start something. You fight against injustice, it is sure your victory.

And about not knowing how to use the siri sahib. What is there to it, say waheguru, he will come 1000 steps to u to assist u, and be rite beside u when u fight the legion. SO there is nothin to be afraid of.

  8. yaar come on...Sikhi is such a practical and open minded religion...u dont wanna know about islam :| ohmy.gif ...they literally run to the mosque so that they dont miss namaz...now what love is there in that? u juz doing it coz otherwise u think u'll be punished :( ...is that love?...but Gurujee is so much filled with love, that as long as u do ur nitnem, and with 100% love + faith + devotion, Gurujee will always hold u in His close embrace. i agree that there is nothing like doing the banis as and when the prescribed time is, but at the end of the day its ur love that counts...some1 may not do rehras at sunset with love as much some1 else could do it at 10 pm...juz my foolish thoughts

    Waheguru ji!

Totally agree wit u ... good point! More like my idea too ;)

  9. no maybes...... we must be firm and stand our ground... say YES THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WHEN OUR GENERATION TAKES CHARGE... dont be firm one minute and spoil your whole speech in the end by saying...maybe :( . a gurus sikh is never indecisive.... its either yes or no. no grey areas allowed...esp where it concerns sikhee and gender equality. ;)

ohmy.gif , sorry bhainji my bad...

  10. pictures are fake..

    vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw!

    vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!

veerje u are also rite pictures are fake maharj said "na chitra he" and this is also true that todays youth must go to sggs not pctures but today everyonce imagintion cant be chenged in one shot it takes time today a small boy sees the pic of guru nanak sahib he ask who is he we have to say son this is guru nanak sahib our first guru like this this spiritul activity starts as he grows elder as we are and he get gyan hell come to know that pictures are nothing but imgination so for starting its ok for childeren and youth those who are not into sikhe ,when thery see shaheed singhs pic and they think what they did and we are for our religion that is also first step toward religion and after some time same what i said as they get gyan thell not matha tek pictures so pic i think is just good for inspiring and meeting god is shabad.my one percent jee sorry if im wrong anywhere. ;)

Like the old saying goes to children... Pictures make 1000 words... or somethin :(

Children love pictures form pictures they learn... i know that the pictures of our gurus r not exact... but if u tell ur small boy GURU GOBIND SINGH WAS A GREAT WARRIOR .. they would be like oh ya, reli, wow... stories do tell a lot ... but same scenerio u put a picture of Guru Gobind singh ji in front of him maybe in a battle scene or guru ji on a horse or wit baaj, they will be like WOW, dis is my guru! SO powerful in image, etc..

  11. Waheguru ji ka khalsa,

    Waheguru ji ki fateh!

Why not just go to the gurdwara when a child is born. Forget about a get together of dancing and other stuff cuz it usually just involves drinking, meat and other non-sikhi stuff. Instead of wasting time here we should encourage our family and relatives to bring the new born child to the gurdwara and let her/him hear the words of guru and let some simran get into his ear, instead of music.

I think dis will change over time wit our generation... hmmm... maybe... rolleyes.gif

  12. pictures are just pictures.. not gurbani

    waheguru ji ka khalsa,

    waheguru ji ki fateh!

Teekya i understand pictures we not suppose to worship them or anything. And i also agree with not including pictures in the newspaper. I also agree wit paaji there with some ppl including khandas in india on meat shops and stuff... (or was it a bhainji rolleyes.gif )

BUT WAT IF, THAT STARTS HERE! Wat if in the next newspaper u see u saw a picture of guru gobind singh on the front page of newspaper, in the add of a some random meat shop. Pictures are pictures as some of u said BUT DA YOUTH R WATCHING!

Some youth dont go for words, they go for the pictures. THat why some have khandas on the back of their cars and same time u see them smoking, drinking and doing all the bad stuff in that same car. Wat is this effect to other ppl seeing this. That SIKHS r like this ??

So i think it does matter for pictures. We should care. It does come down for our youth of the future. IF they get the wrong expression, where will sikhi go ?

    Bul chuk maph,

  13. Jhootee Dekhi Preet Jugat Meh||

In this World/This world's Love is FALSE.

Guru sahib says any love in this maya is false. The only true love one can ever have is for god. And through loving god they love everything else and everyone else EQUALLY--Because of their love for god.

All other love is false. In sikhi we are to control the vikaars and use their energy to love god. Loving a human comes down to moh and kaam. But we can use the energies of kaam and krodh and attachments of moh and point them in the direction of guru sahib so that we are only after him.

  15. Waheguru ji ka khalsa,

    Waheguru ji ki fateh!

Waheguru jio, u guys put up great posts. I had a question! Ive been reading most of the forums in this sections and try to read everyones response adn view. There was one that got me thinkin the one on whats the hardest in sikhi, amritvela, eating meat, cutting hair etc...

I was wondering, some i know do dis, i myself also, doing nitnem before u goto sleep. SOme singhs, majority i would say in uni/job... usually stay up till like 2 - 3 am or even later and that is actually the time of Amritvela, so usually do nitnem before going off to bed.

Lets get the sangats view on this... is dis rite or wrong ? :T:
