  1. I work hard... i pay ma taxes like a lot of other people... i abide by the law and uphold it... but then my hard work and taxes went towards his compensation of £4,000...! I think its stupid. His FEET ONLY were put into a bin, not even fully, for less than a second....! A second is SHORT!

And to he who says it must have been a justified case for the kid to get compensation - people sue for the stupidest things nowdays. We all know that. Minor things. Silly things.

I dont think this kid deserved £4,000 in compensation. Maybe the coppers were silly to do it in the first place, but i think this is a case of 1-nil to the troublemakers. Bring back corporal punishment!!

  2. Even the investigation found it in good humour proactive. I am sure the investigators saw the video too. His feet onli were in there for less than a second. Please dont compare the brutal beating of Rodney King to this and the coppers were being malicious or else they wud have prosecuted. I dont think that from the news story above they shudve got compensation for it. £4,000 is a good few months wages for some who work hard and live an honest living. I doubt Guru Nanak Dev Jee would encourage such "easy" ways of obtaining cash. But then hey,... what goes around comes around.

  3. I saw this news report on BBC and it kinda annoyed me this kid decided to claim compensation over such a minor thing. An investigation seems to claim it was all in good humour but obviously kid got home, told his dad who saw ££'s... but maybe i am percieving it wrong..??

And i bet theres more to the story than just the kid standing at a bus stop minding his own business...

    Bin boy given £4,000 compensation

A teenager who was dumped into a rubbish bin by a police officer has received £4,000 in compensation.

Anop Singh, from Stamford Hill, north London, was briefly placed in a bin in Hackney, east London, after an argument with the officer in October 2005.

"I didn't like it," Anop, who is 16, told BBC London. "Now he has suffered the consequences hasn't he?"

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said an out-of-court settlement was made and two officers received written warnings.

    'Told to move'

Anop met the policeman as he was near Clissold Park in Hackney, where there were reports of youths throwing conkers.

"I am waiting at the bus stop and I am told if I do not move he's going to put me in the bin," Anop said.

I did not ask for it, they offered it to me

    Anop Singh

"He did not tell me 'move away please,' just 'move away'. I am not a dog, I am not going to move away."

The plain-clothes policeman, who was accompanied by another officer, then placed the teenager feet-first in the litter bin for less than a second.

Anop's friend Pierre Cornwall, 17, filmed the incident on his mobile phone and his father Gurdev Singh made a formal complaint.

"I would have preferred it if the policeman had taken my son to a police station and put him in a cell, then phoned me up and I would have dealt with it," Mr Singh said.

An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) inquiry reported that the officers claimed the incident was "all in good humour" but the teenager said he had been "upset and humiliated".

The incident was not malicious but it was clearly foolish behaviour

    IPCC commissioner Deborah Glass

A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that the Metropolitan Police Service received a complaint in relation to this incident in July 2006.

"In March 2007 an out-of-court settlement was accepted by the claimant, and was paid out later that month."

"I did not ask for it, they offered it to me," Anop said on Friday. "If there's nothing else that's going to happen, then I am going to accept it aren't I?"

The Crown Prosecution Service ruled there was no realistic prospect of convicting the officers involved.

Deborah Glass, IPCC commissioner for London and the South East, said: "I accept that the incident was not malicious but it was clearly foolish behaviour."

  4. well its nott about temp location its about satkar, wen maharaj is at sumones house its usualy for an akand paat, if the organisers had enough money to provide campers with nice rooms with bathrooms etc, they should of atleast thought of providing maharaj a sachkand, iam sure ther was a spare room ther for a sachkand seeming as the site was very nice site

I am not as learned as some of you Singhs and Singhnia...

but i believe that this whole world is a temporary location. I also believe that 99% of UK Gurdwaras fail when it comes to satkaar... have u seen the state of some of them? run down factories turned into Gurdwaras, damp walls, leaking ceilings, mould growing in the corners of darbaar, etc etc...

point is, no matter how much satkaar u do, its never EVER enough when it comes to our Guru Jee... but come on guys... this is Guru Granth Sahib Jee... Guru Sahib doesnt moan or frown because the Sach Khand was a temporary abode. Guru Jee is happy being in the presence of sangat who worship him as lovingly as they do at all camps.

No SACH KHAND here on earth is permanent... its ALL temporary. This whole world is. Lets concentrate on getting to our truue and permanent abodes.

Please lets keep to the topic of sharing photos and other media from this years Khalsa Camp

  5. I think this is really silly. How is everyone meant to know who Ubhi is, that such a statement, which is titled with his name, is published on a public forum? If he wanted to clear his name of activities associated with him... he has failed in doing so with putting it on a forum, it has to be said.

But i also agree with Sarpanch yeh because i tell you, the guys intentions cannot be questionned. He has done the best he can. Maybe not to everyones likes but which two people on this planet are the same? Answer = none. A lot of people (including some people reading this and probably even me) are all talk and no action, where as Ubhi Jee was both where you agreed with his actions or not.

  6. Listen, SaRpAnCh veer jee and all others...

There is mixed feelings on the conduct of Bhai Jaswinder Singh Ubhi in the general sikh sangat... this is not a jatha or group thing, that you have to single out "nangs" as the mud slingers. Mud slingers are everywhere, so lets not divert the attention away from the issue here. Bhai Jaswinder Singhs actions in the past have left a lot to be desired for and aisee bhi nahi hai ke i have anything against Bhai Sahib Jee... i am even calling him Bhai Sahib out of respect kyonke mere naalo Bhai Sahib vadde han and i am nowhere his level.

I think this discussion is really quite pointless. I do not know what Bhai Sahib intends to achieve in airing his "statement" here on the forum and he is not some superstar who we should know and therefore be exposed to his affairs. As Bani states, Maharaj is the resolver of affairs. Not some statement on an internet forum.

When it comes to seva, a lot of you just need to shut up. I will say it straight. Because yes, his actions have left questions but i tell you something, no one ... NO ONE can question his pyaar, dedication and overall... his intentions, which i believe have been honest. And this post has been my honest opinion.

  7. "2. Define themselves as Sikh as per Sikh Rehat Maryada (Pay homage to Guru Granth Sahib and Guru Jees, State that they follow no religion except Sikhism."

So erm... do they like sign a document saying they will follow no religion except Sikhism? LOL

Is it just me or is this turning into like a sharia law?

Also, i would suggest Bhai Jaswinder Singh Ubhi puts his words on a video. No offence, but i dont believe half the c*ap written on the internet etc and a digital signature is not valid here. He could have also wrote it in his own words (punjabi or english) with a signature.
