    Yeah I agree. The akal thakt, despite their problems, is the supreme judiciary of Sikhism. Thus their rehat is the one to follow.

    I think its ok to follow a rehit that is more strict than what they give too (ie: AKJ).

    I think so. BUt stocks are not the same thing. Its like opening up your own business... the money you make, even that on top of what you initially invested becomes yours. Stocks are simply buying a part of a company... so that they may be able to do the same thing!

    Actually, a big problem is in terms of education programs. How often do you see large fundraising drives by pagh-walla Singhs and Kaurs? Never! Our community is overflowing with ca$h, but since all we do is give 10% cash to gurdwara and never do seva where its needed: like inner city and poor areas, no one hears of us.... its quite sad actually.

    I think I posted this somewhere else too, but I'll say it again.

    Just like the Muslims are now, its only when some big catastrophe happens that people switch back to being sikh... we haven't had something big for a while (20yrs?) so we're all lazy and just don't put our effort forward.

    PS: The reason why Jews are better known than we are is because:

    1. Jews are more widespread than we are

    2. Middle east crisis in the papers 12 times a day and news all night

    3. They have existed for several thousand years longer than we have

    4. They are "natural enemies" to Christians which are the most popular.
