  7. It was a great day for the mela everyone was having fun but then this happend :sady: Man knifed amid festival trouble Handsworth on Sunday Police closed Handsworth Park after the disturbance A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed during violence in the West Midlands that left more than 10 other people injured. Police closed Handsworth Park in Birmingham after trouble flared at the Vaisakhi event, held as part of Sikh new year celebrations. During the incident the man, thought to be in his 50s, was stabbed three times. Six other people suffered significant injuries, including head wounds, West Midlands Ambulance Service said. 'Difficult incident' They and two others, with lacerations and bruising, were taken to hospital. Doctors treated other people at the park. The ambulance service said staff also attended incidents in other parts of Handsworth, including a call to a woman, aged in her 50s, who had collapsed unconscious. Hundreds of Sikhs had been expected to join a procession from the High Street in Smethwick to the park. Arterial bleed A spokesman said they were initially called out at about 1500 BST on Sunday. "There is no doubt that this was a difficult incident for all of the crews, but they did an excellent job providing care to a range of injuries ranging from minor to severe," he said. "We would like to pay credit to a number of police officers who came across a man with an arterial bleed and who had lost a large quantity of blood. "They applied a pressure dressing to stem the blood loss until the ambulance staff could get to the man." A paramedic motorcyclist had to be escorted from the park and an ambulance was also damaged during the disturbances. What was it all over?, why cant people stop fighting Mod Note: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=26520
  8. any one got news on when the vaisakhi radio will start ????
  9. that is very true and that how these fights start, then lead into big things. thats why we need to teach the true meaning of sikhi to the young kids as they will soon be the next generation and we need to set strong foundations for them, if not then the panth will fall, the mella should not be banned but yet used in a way to teach the kids, e.g. gathka, path, simran etc what do you guys think ?
  10. hi there as you know vaisakhi is comming and is the council of sikh Gurudwara's in birmingham hosting a radio station this year as they have done last year Also is there gonna be any Sikhi related teachings within the handsworth mella this year, as every year its always the same loud music, rides, and food. only a few of the sangat goes into the keertan hall as the rest, just care about rides and showing off the flags while beeping their car horns lol i hope their is sikhi teachings as the young kids need to learn about the sikhi way of life and the true meaning of vaisakhi forgive me if i have offended anyone please reply WJK WJKF
