ok, i think i got the first raag sorted. now im onto alaap and it doesnt sound right, so any tips? it starts with re ma pa ma re pa ma re ma pa ma re (and then onto the 3rd string) and u repeat it and say "satnaam, sri waheguru, dhand outh bandhan anak baar" etc. is there any videos around that play something similiar (it also sounds like a familiar punjabi tune as well) and psd, is there any chance u can upload something of yourself doing this slowly, so i can get it right. im sure im playing the right notes, but it doesnt sound right, any tuning tips perhaps? also, im looking to borrow a vaja off anyone in leicester for a couple of monthes? for tuning purposes... anyone kind enough to do this "sewa" (:-p)...(sorry alias prince, im sure you get the joke)

first of all, benti to admin to please make this a sticky as i am sure many people will be able to benefit from this topic. as im sure some people know, mahraj kirpa i have started to learn sarangi (although a completly different type of sarangi which i originally wanted to play), its more of the dhadhi jatha style. maybe one day i can play the classical sarangi. anyway... so here i am playing a few tunes and for some reason it doesnt sound right. i just wanted to post this so that other more learned players of this saaj can advise me on a few tips. heres a few q's i wanted to pose 1) can anyone post "saka muttiya da", and what is its history and meaning, im looking for "naal eik akal da kalgidhar aya", if its up online anywhere? i think ive got the tune sorted. 2) im finding the alaap a bit difficult, as i have played dilruba and sitar more, it requires playing the first two fingers, sarangi requires four fingers to play. can anyone give me tips on how to get the back two fingers to start playing? any exercises? 3) also tuning tips and if anyone else has questions, please post here happy learning people

whats the name of the singh at GTB? rocket ive heard of. send me their numbers, any idea how much they charge? im thinking maybe ustaad ranbhir singh namdhari, his teacher (surjit singh) learnt from pandit ram narayan (one of the best sarangi masters in the world today), he coming back from india in new year, but till then i wanna learn sarangi basics and then learn with ranbhir singh. does anyone in leicester have a spare sarangi i can borrow for 2 monthes? inderpal? u know anyone? also, another q, someone in my family is going in february time to india, ive asked them to get me a sarangi, can anyone reccomend me any good saaj shops in nur mahal/jalandher area? also how much is a sarangi in india? uk ones are around £260. and also what do i need to look for in a good sarangi? thanks

WJKK WJKF!!! this shabad can be translated in many ways, but this is how i would interpretate it. Mahraj constantly speaks of how bhaghats were saved in all the jugs (ages), "har jug jug bhagat upaia ramraje harnaksh dusht har maria, prahlad taria" (in each age a bhagat had come, mahraj killed prahlads enemy harnaksh) also, there are stories of the mahabharat, draupadi was saved by krishan avtaar from being stripped naked by duroydhan. Alot of shabads made by guru ji were really questions and answers, questions that gursikhs posed and answers mahraj gave. Who can kill that person whom You protect, O Lord? the example of draupadhi, dhru bhagat and prahlad can be put here. Those who remember mahraj with shardha, how can they be killed? physical pain is nothing to a gurmukh. it may not neccessarily be physical death, in todays situations, some people take amrit and then within a few years from now they give that up...saying that it was too hard. in that sense, it can be argued that this person has spiritually died. mahraj says how can someone, who has takens mahrajs sanctuary be killed? those who have so much pyaar and shardha in them...how can they be killed in this sense? All beings, and the entire universe, is within You. Mahraj has created a wonderful asthaan, and everything is under mahraj da hukam. dukh and sukh are exactly the same thing, in dukh we remember god, and eventually we gain sukh...dukh sukh hai sukh. WJKK WJKF!

ok, back to the topic heres the design i need people to create for me a picture of a gold angel, rising over the world with its wings spread out. got to be quite large, eye catching and fancy. the name "diverse" should either be across the globe, or below the globe. should all be in gold. but something eye catching required. so i thought of an angel. can anyone give me samples of what they might be able to produce?

the eagle looks nice (the 1st pic), i need an angel, in gold...must be cool and funky looking...like a designer logo even. but a gold angel with "diverse" written on it, and that must also be in gold. singh must be very reliable...no messing about ok, if people can give me some samples... an angel in gold gold writing with "diverse" let your imagination go. must be creative, new, funky and really fashionable and out of this world. ok sangato, lets see what you get, and if its good, the job is yours.
