  1. A religious sect in the Indian state of Punjab has apologised after its leader was accused of blasphemy against Sikhs.

The leader of the Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) appeared in an advert dressed like Guru Gobind Singh, one of the Sikh religion's most revered figures.

The sect has now apologised to the Guru Gobind Singh directly.

The incident led to clashes earlier in May, and a general strike between Sikhs and members of the sect in which at least one person died.

A deadline set by Sikh leaders for DSS sites to be shut has passed with no reports of violence.

The sect claims it has 20 million members worldwide and says it is not a religion but a humanitarian organisation caring for its devotees.

    Polarisation

Analysts say the DSS action has to be seen in the context of state elections held in Punjab in February.

Then the sect leader issued a public appeal for people to vote for the Congress party.

Religious sects have traditionally been subtle about their support for political parties - they have usually issued internal appeals asking their followers to vote for the political party of their choice.

Most Sikhs in Punjab support the state's governing party, Akali Dal.

Some analysts say Sikh leaders, angry at the direct intervention by the DSS in the elections, seized the opportunity to whip up popular sentiments of their community against the sect.

Although peace has prevailed in the state for the last decade or so, in the 1980s and the 1990s, Punjab was the site of a violent insurgency by Sikhs who desired an independent homeland.

In 1984 Indian security forces killed many Sikh militants after they seized the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the Sikh religion's most important site.

In revenge, Indira Gandhi, the then-prime minister, was shot dead by her Sikh bodyguards.

There's a difference between revenge and justice.

we are the chehra of Sahib Shri AKali Nihung Guru Gobind Singh Ji, if he has apologised to maharaj then he has apologised to the sikhs aswell. and isnt by the qaum asking for an apology making the qaum seem pompous, that its more important for him to apologise to the sikh community than to the guru???

  2. Ur answer seems a bit different below! see attatchment

    bang on

we dont fight for land we fight for justice

we will get khalsa raaj when gursikhs become tyaar bar tyaar with pukka rehit, naam simran and bani

khalsa raaj means a rule without ehankaar, at the moment punjaab leaders are full of themselves. Untill 1600 sache gursikhs are born no khalistan will take form, thats maharajs bachan

@ pokemon <banned word filter activated> - looking at current state of affairs do you think a million strong army of india will allow it?

  4. please help me

im revising fisics and i cant answer this question

"A tennis player practising "follow through" in her service manages to keep her racquet in contact with the ball over 0.2m of her stroke. The ball flies off at 30m/s. If the mass of the ball is 100g, what average of force on the ball did she acheive?"

    grin.gif

apply your equations, well force = mass X accelleration youve got mass and youve got velocity, work out your accelleratipn using your velocity!!!!! btw r u doin mechanics, and have you done quanum phenomena yet? or have you got electricity to do yet????

  5. there will always be people who would put forward all sorts of arguments on why we don't need khalistan.

but i would say that its sad that most of those people call them self sikhs

khalistan is a must, and i hope it will be created in the near future.

when a gursikh removes ehankaar from their heart that heart becomes khalistan, because it is a place where ego doesnt dwell. we have fools like commitee members fighting over small gurdwara establishments, would you wanna live in a place which is under control of such idiots.

its not easy running a countries, you have to think of economic ties, millitary etc. you think india will support khalistan hah! khalistan in punjab will cripple because india wont support it and pakistan will only use it as an entry into india!

  6. Sikhi should not be full or rituals and paranoia. Khalsa was brave because they practiced practical life, believed in true devotion and eliminated the rituals. Loosing hair by kara does not mean that you are not khalsa. Khalsa should keep hair but should be brave and above minor rituals. I am khalsa serving in Canadian Armed Forces, people compliment me on by appearance in uniform. It is my devotion to guru, he is with me. There for develop and practice devoution and truly trust your guru and god. Cut out rituals that makes you weak and waste your time.

    Guru Fateh

    Kanwar singh

thank god for such a rational answer, btw why am i wasting my time in this stupid thread?

  7. i believe that people in india or in the UK or anywhere are not being educated, but brainwashed and views and opinions are being imposed especially on the Sikh youth, what the panth needs to do now is to look into the future, not to dwell in the past. If Sahib Shri Akali Nihung Guru Gobind Singh Ji had dwelt in the past e.g. the shaheedi or Guru Arjun Dev Ji and the Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji, Maharaj would have annihilated the all muslims, but no, maharaj fought against adharam (tyranny and oppression) Indira was killed, Rajiv died a dogs death, now what we need to do is yes fight for an apology from the indian government, but most importantly we need to focus our energies more into how we can help the community, our sikh girls are being converted into other faiths and why? because Gurudwaras and the panth isnt educating the youth on their religions morrals, but in fact todays youth is being tought to fight for khalistan. Maharaj Guru Gobind Singh Ji knew when to back out of a battle which was nearly undefeatable, e.g. the battle at Anandpur. We as sikhs need to adopt that ideology of maharaj and learn that fair enough what has happened in the past has hapened, lets not dwindle in it forever, but lets learn from our flaws and be more alert for the future.

Look the mughals oppressed the Sikhs in the times of the Gurus but you dont see the community spreading hatred towards Muslims.

Khalistan isnt something that will be built overnight it will take decades to establish, if you try to take khalistan by force from India, with whome will khalistan have economical ties with, look at the war between India and Pakistan, khalistan will be made a battlefield if god forbid something like that happens. Khalistan will need its own government, economy, currency, ports etc. Look gurudwaras have fights every year when deciding which comity should govern the gurudwara, and this is just within small establishments, imagine what will happen if we had jokers like them fighting for who will run khalistan. It aint easy. my only concern is that instead of dwelling in the past the panth should invest in the future (ie youth) and thats not by brainwashing them to hate the Indian government. If this is what it has come to then khalistani's are no better than extremist Muslim clerics who preach about jihad and hating the Americans. in a way this is what is happening in our faith. we need to stop living in the past but concentrate on the future, e.g. teaching our people more about the important issues such as eliminating the caste system within the punjabi community and the importance of amrit and kes, these are the important issues, which need to be addressed. im not saying that what happened in 84 should be forgotten, but we need to now put it at the back of our minds and concentrate on the future of sikhi.

btw khalistan will be established, but if you think of it it doesnt have to be a country called khalistan. Khalistan means a place where everyone is equal. When india becomes a country which denounces the hindu caste system and treats all as equals khalistan will be established. plus Sahib Shri Akali Nihung Guru Gibind Singh Ji said that when 1600 singhs are on the world khalistan will be established. now yyou must all be thinking there are thousands of singhs, but out of those thousands how many are amritdhari and follow reit properly???????

  8. singh ji

But humans cannot consume raw meat, while animals can. This shows our inner body isn't suited?

aha! have you ever head of an organ called the appendix? well that used to process raw meat, with developing civilization we began to cook our meat, and therefore didn't need it, so by genetics the appendix became dormant.

  9. However, If you would agree to the fact the human teeth , etc are not made to consume meat (Also mentioned by Bhai Sahib Bhai Randheer Singh) Versus the teeth of animals who do consume meat and eat other animals.

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, vaheguru ji ke fateh

If i have said anything wrong please think of me as your uneducated sibling who wants to learn from you. Please provide your views.

first of all veere, your statement that human teeth are not made to eat meat is incorrect, i am a biologist and can tell you with confidence that are teeth are biologically made to suite an omnivorous organism. Hence the Canines and the Incisors etc

    fateh!

  10. you know what people keep on saying that Jathedaar Ji was excommunicated from the Panth and are quick to remember the date, et you dont remember that in 2002 Baba Ji was reinstated? And that to disrespect someone who has payed tankhah is mahapaap! Even though Baba Ji committed no sin he as a role model Gursikh accepted punishment for a crime he did not commit because he was without houme. You people should take a lesson from him.

When Baba Ji took the Contract, SGPC was denied the contract simple, and to take revenge they excommunicated him. And just to add, after Guru Gobind Singh Ji a true Jathedaar of Akaal Takht was a Farla Dhari Nihung Singh, and in 1984 i dont remember the Jathedaar of Akaal Takht being a Farla Dhari Nihung Singh therefore his decision in excommunicating Baba Ji is void because he didnt fit the criteria of being Jatherdaar!

    Akaal!

    Sat Sri Akaal!

  11. Jhoot is a matter of quantum physics. our thoughts can effect ANYTHING, as proven physicists with water. A non-amritdhari will have different thoughts and ideas, and by eating their jooth, you are sort of consuming their thoughts as well.

Anmrit--puts Guru's thoughts, in the form of bani, into water, thus making us pure through the consumption of the anmrit, in a sense.

thats going a bit too far now isnt it, i study particle/quantum physics and i fail to see the correlation between jhoot and the cosmos

  12. I wasn't looking for a Chrisitian forum, rather I noticed on a list of the most popular forums across the internet. I was curious and wanted to see if I could find anything on their opinions on Sikhism...and sure enough I found a recent thread under their other religions section.

I was quite pleased to see a number of compliments from some Christians, but then I was pretty annoyed and somewhat angered by what one of the Muslims posters said nonetheless......so I had to register and resond. :umm:

Anways, here's the thread. Keep an open mind, hence I'm reminding you that they aren't going to agree with everything about our religion....and that's fine.

interesting, but i fail to see how us as Sikhs missed the point, as said by our christian friend

  13. ki gal bolti barri sheti band ho gayi?

What is that suppose to mean? You could've said, Sangat jee please listen to the audio so we can do vichaar on the topic. We're taking steps to improving the board's quality in terms of posts and those posts certainly don't fit the criteria, so next time please post with some nimartaa. Bhul chuk muaf karnee. d_oh.gif

next time i will definatly talk with more tact, thank you for pointing that out, now thats what i call better improved moderation.
