having taken amrit 2 years ago, my parents give me a hard time because i don't wear jewels and fancy clothes. recently at a family function i turned up dressed simply and wearing a keski. my parents hit the roof, and havent stopped shouting at me since, they expect me to dress like a tart. what should i do? please help.

respect what your parents are saying, as they are your parents. But what i would do if i was in your position was to meet them half way, atleast that way there would be less friction.

The only way you can show dovotion to god is through naam, by seeking the Guru's guidence. Do you even see hazoori raagis at Harmander Sahib clapping or even the sangat? If they did, they would get stopped. Yes it is good hearing blessed individuals singing guru's praises!!

Guru Nanak Dev Ji said taught us to reach god by what ever means possible (by that i mean logical means) therefore if clapping is wrong then so is singing and music!

Dasam Guru Darbar was kept gupt until around 1800s and Sarabloh Guru Darbar was kept gupt until british took over. Both of these granths should have still been kept gupt so people don't point fingers on them.

Although Baba Banda Singh Bahadur may not have had darshan of Dasam Guru Granth Sahib as a saroop , no doubt he had access to the main bani in it , which forms part of the nitnem , ardass and so on. When you mention the Sikhs of the 1980s , these people were infused wiv bir rass because of saint soldiers like Sant Jarnail Singh. If only we had someone like him today. May Akal bless those fine young men who gave thier lives for the freedom of the Sikh nation. May Akal bless us wiv the same spirit that we may be able to one day reach thier standards.

banda singh bahadur did have access to shri akali dasam guru granth sahib, alongside the means by which he could summon to shaheed army, or gupt fauja. These texts were kept gupt to the dal, thats why thee are no records untill 1800 or whatever

sarbloh granth was kept gupt as was dasam granth sahib, therefore there is a high chance that banda singh bahadur did get his hands on maharaj's bani. These granths were kept gupt for a reason, so where u say that the granths werent compiled before 1800 well they were it was just that they were kept gupt and that is FACT. and please not get into 84, as there was a reason for that aswell
