  1. Authentic Muay Thai is very good for real practical strength and combat training, it has evolved and refined for thousands of years and very effective. Weights etc is good but to be honest it does not take more than a few pounds of pressure to knock someone unconscious, its all about correct technique so I would recommend learning the proper technique to fight well. For example at our Muay Thai class

    (AKAAL MUAY THAI )

We have one Singh who has been training for 4-5 years weighs around 68 kilos, and is absolutely lethal, in fact its very funny watching him spar guys who are around 80-90 kilos who are literally afraid of him. His main sparring partner is one of the coaches at our class and is himself 92 kilos and much taller than him also.

How do you know that the pakistanis welcomed the taliban with open arms, is there a legitimate opinion poll that you have read?

Secondly the people of punjab have voted in idiots for years should we excommunicate them because the politicians did not live up to their promises

The problem you have which u will probably not admit is that u are collectively labelling a whole people, ~Guru Nanak spoke out against Babar because HE was bad he did not say all muslims are bad because of Babar.

The below is an official army document given out to all soldiers in punjab immediately after operation bluestar, it labelled all sikhs the same, how is your philosophy any different. Your saying they are all intent on destroying Sikhi have u met them all, or are you just sitting comfortable at home

‘Any knowledge of the ‘Amritdharis’ (baptised Sikhs) who are dangerous people and pledged to commit murders, arson and acts of terrorism should immediately be brought

to the notice of the authorities. These people may appear

harmless from outside but they are basically committed to

terrorism. In the interest of all of us their identity and

    whereabouts must always be disclosed.’

  3. THANK YOU!!! i will pass on the messege!!!

and please, a small favour on my part. in your next class, please make an announcemnt to the whole class and to the instructors, giving them a BIG THANK YOU, for the money they have ALL helped raise.

    THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN!

    Mahakaal Rakhvala.

Next class is tomorrow, we will definately do that singh

Please pass on my message to Bibi Harnish kaur that it was her who ran 10km not us!

she deserves all the credit, also the donation is 100% from the students who have been supporting us since December, and not personally from me or any of the other organisors.

Having spoken to the instructors who have trained for over 15 years, they are amazed at what Bibi Harnish kaur has acheived especially as this is her first run!

Having heard that Harnish is close to the personal target she wanted to reach, some of the students along with Ravinder Singh from Khalsa Aid organised and ran a charity car wash on Saturday at Guru Nanak Sikh College and thanks to the money raised their can bump up the donation to £1250.

Huge thanks to all the sangat who support Akaal Muay Thai and those who had their cars washed!

Benti to everyone I believe Khalsa Aid are preparing to go to Punjab early next month so there is still time to donate,

    Baljit Singh

Please pass on my regards to Bibi Harnish Kaur, on behalf of all the sevadaars and students at Akaal Muay Thai we congratulate her for her efforts. We would like to invite her to train at our class and hope next year we can get some singhs and bibis from the class to run as well next year.

Akaal Muay Thai will also be donating £1000 to Khalsa Aid in her name,

On a separate note it is sad and an example of the state of our youth and wider community that this thread only got around 300 views and 6 replies (mostly from one person) whilst threads like

"Hindu Mob Trying To Sexually Harass Cnn Reporter, Exposure" got 1690 views!

I have a few Kukuris for sale, all are genuine, well made pieces with good balance, there not tourist kukuris you find everywhere (chrome blades with india engraved into the blade, with the infamous lion head on the hilt)

The kukuri with the elaborate wooden scabbard (case) and the one with the real leopard/cheetah skin scabbard are both £45 including postage and packing. The other kukris are both £35 including postage and packing, one has a horn hilt (handle) and the other a wooden one (very sharp),

They all have good edges, but can be sharpened to your needs

  7. AK47 Jatha Lion

No your right he has not objected, but as far as we understand the hall is still under the control of the council, the people who run it, and who we pay the money to are part of a community group/organisation, and many other groups hire out the venue,

Also I dont mean to sound sarcastic, but we buy our refreshments from the petrol station opposite the hall, does that mean they support us?

I dont want to sound egotistical, and say we are doing this by ourselves because that is simply not true, Waheguru makes the whole thing work through the sangat who attend weekly, if not for them it would not run, its not our class but the sangat's. We have approached the comittee, and would really benefit from being supported, but as things stand not yet :D

No the instructors do not have any links with Niddar, never attended any of his classes etc

  8. "also i was not part of the spying crew that went to observe"

Could you clarify what you mean by spying?

There was a group of singhs who openly went to the march to counter protest what was being said, and to ensure no

beadbi of Gurbani or any slander to Sant Bhindranwale took place (as has happened in Punjab),

They had open beards and Dastaars did not try to blend in and were spotted miles off by the protesters

  9. Waheguru Ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh

this is a brilliant proactive step and I like how you are supporting the local gatka akharas :D .

Have you any plans to teach in other areas?

Thank you very much, unfortunately our 5 instructors volunteer their time,

and have full time jobs so it would be difficult to arrange another class at the moment,

I would like to add that we have no support from any Gurudawara committee, or any other organisation,

apart from the two charities whom we support who inspired us to do something.

We are a UK registered charity, and anyone from the sangat who cannot personally attend is welcome to support us

  10. History of Muay Thai

Muay Thai is referred to as "The Art of the Eight Limbs", as the hands, shins, elbows, and knees are all used extensively in this art. A practitioner of Muay Thai ("nak muay") thus has the ability to execute strikes using eight "points of contact," as opposed to "two points" (fists) in Western boxing and "four points" (fists, feet) used in the primarily sport-oriented forms of martial arts.

    Akaal Muay Thai

    Seva

Akaal Muay Thai was set up with the concept of Seva. Our amazing trainers do not take a single penny for their efforts. They are happy in knowing that all students in Akaal Muay Thai are willing to learn and show willpower and determination. Not only that, but they are happy to donate all proceeds to charity. Other than the cost of the venue all your proceeds go to helping those in greater need then ourselves.

Our first mission was at the “UNIQUE HOME” Girls Orphanage in Jallandhur, all money raised was donated there.

Now we are working with Khalsa Aid and Sikh Prisoners charity, and all further proceeds will go to these charities. Please check out both charities that are doing great work voluntarily unlike other larger charities that are paid for their work.

Here at AKAAL MUAY THAI, we are very fortunate to be trained by instructors of the calibre and experience of such as KRU JAY (Jatinder Singh Dhillon), who have unparalleled knowledge in authentic Muay Thai. We have up to 5 Instructors per class, all whom teach voluntarily with a combined experience of fighting and learning of nearly 80 years!!

    Gatka or Muay Thai ??

We firmly believe that weapons based training such as Gatka is essential for Sikhs (although Muay Thai does have a weapons based art – Krabi Krabong, this is for very advanced practitioners). This is why in Southall we have chosen Wednesdays so not to clash with the local Akharas whom we have close relations with.

However we also believe that hand to hand fighting is very important in the current climate, for example Shastars should only be used at the last resort, and sadly due to the poor physical and martial condition of many of us today, the Kirpan is likely to be the first resort. We aim to teach people to use the 8 weapons first (see above) they already possess before having to resort to the Siri Sahib.

    Where and When

At the moment we have a weekly class on Wednesdays from 6.45pm to 9.00pm for £5 at Southall Community Centre, the same venue where the Baba Ajit Singh Ji Gatka Akhara holds their classes on Tuesdays from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

Please support by showing up, just try it once and if it is not for you then that’s fine, we are aiming this at the Sikh community although all are welcome. Males and Females attend the class, but train separately from each other (same hall), the only restriction is that we do not wish to teach the wrong people i.e Thugs, hooligans groups who promote mindless violence. All students are vetted and we have a friendly family atmosphere.

Strict dress code: Round neck T-shirts and Joggers for Females and Round neck T-shirts and Joggers/Shorts for Males

  11. I agree with Sayf, you cannot extend or maintain your Human Rights by limiting others, yes terrorists do horrendous things, but that does not mean that we lower ourselves and do the same.

Kaljug Singh by saying you do no mind x, y and z being tortured, this is a very narrow minded and naive view, because these are the times when some may justify torture, i.e if a terrorist knew where a bomb is planted can you torture him to find out where, it sounds like a small price to pay, right? , but what if he does not know

There has been thousands of cases where innocent people have been tortured to death for information that they simply did not know, as a sikh you should know this very well,.........i.e the 1980's

Secondly these kinds of practices are detrimental and counter productive, I read somewhere once that the IRA where once only "a few complaining old men" not a threat in anyway, but the inhuman treatment of the irish people by the armed forces was the greatest recruitment tool for the IRA, which turned them into the feared organisation they were/are

Is being trapped in a burning skyscraper and knowing you are going to die a painful death torture? Water boarding is not torture.

Torture is pouring gasoline down the throat of your innocent victim as Quday Hussein did. Torture is kidnapping then beheading your hostage on video as happened to Daniel Pearl in Pakistan.

Torture is the forced "dowry bride"system that deprives any woman of her basic human rights at the onset of puberty as I see every day while working in the Middle East.

Torture is the systemic elimination of religious viewpoints opposing yours through physical abuse and slow murder by starvation and imprisonment as is happening to opposing viewpoints in Iran.

We have an obligation to assure the human rights of those who cherish freedom and equality around the world. As a conservative, I point directly at Amnesty International's reports on Human rights abuse and you'll find a myriad of tortures from governments our liberals would not dare protest. When's the last time you saw a Liberal protesting the anniversary of the Murders at Tianaman (sic) Square? Or the forced military inductions of North Korea?

How about the ongoing millions of dollars being made in Afghanistan by the opium market and the rampant use of heroin in the States? Where are the protests against the torture of families slowly destroyed through illegal drug use? Or the protests against the Coyotes who enslave families in Mexico just to transit a family member to the States?

Get real!!!!! We must defend the principles of freedom and we must use methods that, while nauseating to the average person, intimidate those who are bent on imposing their will against our democracy. When you are ready to capitulate your love of freedom so you don't offend the oppressor you mark the end of democracy.

    Okay.

So here I am hoping that J. Larsen who made this post finds this response, but I'm not entirely sure he will. It's almost as if he's willing to pick and choose what torture is based on who it's happening to.

Is being trapped in a burning skyscraper and knowing you are going to die a painful death torture? Water boarding is not torture.

Of course the former is torture, and I assume he is talking about September 11, as many seem to think justifies the actions being carried out against inmates in Gitmo (so many of whom have gone extended periods without a trail, and others have been subject to retrospective law making, let's ponder on why?)

The actions carried out on September 11, were certainly an act of torture, for everyone in NYC that day. For everyone who was concerned about friends or family, for everyone concerned about a traveller, for everyone who witnessed the attack, and for everyone who was injured/killed of course.

But that does not nullify that waterboarding is torture, especially when it was labelled torture and illegal when American troops were subject to it (as a conservatron this is something that surely should not be forgotten, especially given that it in a way was against the USA's national interest, and could certainly happen again)?

Terrorism, and Waterboarding, are definitely both forms of torture in their own rights.

Torture is pouring gasoline down the throat of your innocent victim as Quday Hussein did. Torture is kidnapping then beheading your hostage on video as happened to Daniel Pearl in Pakistan.

Again, totally inexcusable. But, torture, detruction, abominations and desecration are all two way streets. And torture can not be a term subject to change based on who the victim/perpertrator is.

Was it not torture when US troops raped an Iraqi woman (undeniable now that PHOTOS of the attack have since been released, I got so sick of reading this "it's not proven beyond reasonable doubt BS)?

Is it not torture on part by the US by financially supporting the state of Israel through thick and thin for the past 61 years?

Is it not torture for all of the Iraqi and Afghan citizens that have been killed by US troops in the last eight years? In early 2008 the death toll for Iraqi citizens I believe reached 1,000,000 with an estimated 3,000,000 more living intenationally as refugees.

What about all of the families that have been broken up by these forces?

What about the abuses and humilations to prisoners of war that the US have been holding?

What about all of the people of Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan who everyday wake up not knowing if they'll still be around to see the evening?

When torture is brought up, it seems to me that things like this are all conviently swept under the mat and everyone is told that these are all 'necessary measures' to protect the freedoms we enjoy in the West and our rights. Last time I checked freedom has limits, and the main limit we see is that we can't sacrifice someone else's freedom to extend ours, not that any of these people have even in the least threatened our freedom.

All in all the comment continues with liberal bashing and pointing out clear cut human rights violations worldwide as though they some how make similar actions performed by the USA justified.

    …Until we get to this:

Get real!!!!! We must defend the principles of freedom and we must use methods that, while nauseating to the average person, intimidate those who are bent on imposing their will against our democracy. When you are ready to capitulate your love of freedom so you don't offend the oppressor you mark the end of democracy.

Still without a single reference as to how democracy is under fire, or how acts by the USA are somehow morally superior than if another country does them? For clarity: I don't believe ANYTHING mentioned in the blog isn't torture.

This includes: Imprisoning people without trail in Gitmo for years on end, retrospective law making, breaching of war crimes in time of war, WATERBOARDING, and more.

    Peace,

    Sayf Udeen.

    Source, my blog: http://alhamdulillah45.wordpress.com/

sikhs have their own torture issues since the beginning of sikhism..so what exactly was your motive in posting here and directing it towards a man who prolly has never heard of sikhsangat in his life and likely never will?

Would you be saying that if someone else made this post, I disagree and thank Sayd for starting an informed educational debate, maybe it was too much for our XBOX360 generation
