Recently, I was reading one of my favourite books when I came
across a well-known prayer used by Alcoholics Anonymous. The
message is so simple and powerful that I thought it would be
good to share it with you:
"Lord, give me the courage to change the things which can and
ought to be changed, the serenity to accept the things which
cannot be changed and the wisdom to know the difference."
Most of the bad feeling in life comes from the frustration of
focusing on things outside of our direct influence. We will
never be able to instantly make challenging situations go away
or control the behaviour of others.
So long as we continue to focus on these things, we are bound to
feel frustrated and angry. There is only ever one thing over
which we have total control and that is ourselves - our attitude
to the situation and what we DO about it.
Look for the solution, not the problem. And for those things
that you cannot change, set some time aside each day to go to
work on yourself - developing a state of acceptance and
tolerance.
That's it for today.
Thanks and best wishes,
