  2. HISAR: An army jawan posted at Hisar cantonment was on Monday sent to judicial custody following his arrest last week for allegedly transporting illegal weapons to Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) militants. Sepoy Harmeet Singh, 29, is posted in the 73 Armoured unit. Punjab police, on Harmeet Singh's trail following the busting of a KLF terror module last September in Gurdaspur, had arrested him on Thursday. The KLF module had several local Shiv Sena leaders, including Yograj Sharma, Surinder Billa and Harvinder Soni, on its target list. "It came out during the investigations that Harmeet had transported a 9mm semi-automatic pistol from Khokhar to Sohal area of Gurdaspur in September. He had kept the weapon for 15 days before handing it over his brother Gurpreet, who is an active member of the KLF," Gurdaspur SSP Raj Jit Singh told TOI. Police said they had to send several letters to the army headquarters and Harmeet's commandant to seek his arrest. They confirmed the jawan's name had been included in the old FIR filed in the Gurdaspur terror module case. The KLF, an association of scattered Khalistani groups, allegedly trained death-row convict Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar in the 1990s. The Supreme Court had rejected the mercy petition of Bhullar, accused of orchestrating a car bomb explosion outside the offices of the Indian Youth Congress in New Delhi in September 1993, killing nine people. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Army-jawan-held-for-helping-Sikh-militants/articleshow/30969709.cms
