    Jathera Worship

I have a question about Jathere. My immediate and extended family are very devout into going to their Jathere and performing all sorts of traditions and rituals there. At one point Guru Granth Sahib ji was kept at "my" jathera but was removed by some Singhs for obvious reasons. From my understanding of Sikhi, worshipping ancestors, idols, and etc is a hollow act in itself and not neccessarily going to lead you down the spiritual path you may be seeking (I think we can reference the last pauris of Tav Prasad Svaye here). The realization and understanding of spirituality in the sikhi perspective
  2. what EXACTLY is the problem with it? it comes up so much in gurbani and so much in sikhi that we shouldn't idol worship but what is the reason? the general rubbish answer is god isn't in stone but bani says god is so what is the actual answer for this? nowadays just believing isn't enough because will catch us out so we need to be ready with these answers. let's not leave sarcastic comments and actually anseer this question. if god is in stones then why can't we idol worship?
  3. Why do we worship the gurus? I know some don't worship the gurus, but many puraatan singhs do and have told me its the way the gurus set. Why?? I thought the guru was the means of liberation, not the end.
