  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

    Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

There will be amrit sanchar at august california samagam

I heard that gurpreet kaur of this forum will be coming to the bay area August Samagam for the amrit Shak.. :D (?)

  2. Read this sangat jeee:

    Waheguru jee ka Khalsa

    Waheguru jee kee Fateh

I have a feeling this is another propoganda tact of who have

already done enough damage. Please read carefully:-

'Unfortunately the temple sustained further damage in 1984 at the hand of Indian troops, when Sikh extremists were using it as a refuge.'

We need to be careful before jumping on to the band wagon just because someone this making this documentary on Harimandir Sahib.

Could we ask for the script from these guys with 'burning brains'.

    Gurtej Singh

  3. My conclusion point :

First Have Real Khalsas' Around and then talk about Khalistan.. .

If we do get khalistan under current situation.. then who gonna rule there? Badal or his son?? :D .. So my saying is that WE need more pure khalsa in our community, then think about khalistan.. Think about long term goals !!

  4. I don't tie my beard even though i can... But i just shape my beard straight pointing downwards with the help of gel/spray etc..

As of saint jees words.. Some say his words were "Tuni Muni Eek Brabar".. I still don't agree with it cauz sant ji know lotssss of people who tied their beard during those days and they were his close friends like professors/dr's.. etc..

  5. guys.......i think the original question put by Vicky Bhajee was like about how the word developed.....WHO USED IT FIRST AND SO ON? when DID it become a part of Sikh freedom fight? i think this word is not found in puraatan sikh writtings....like from the Misl periode or before...or even Ranjit Singh's state......it was ALWAYS PUNJAB...or other geographical names...like Doaba, Majha and so on....

Exactly rite.. that's what i wanna know.. Why Stan? and why sounds similar Like Pakistan, afghanistan.. is it punjabi word?

Khalistan = Land of Khalsa (?)

I along with my wife exactly had the similar feelings when we heard him in June, 2001 in a Church in Virginia, suburbs of Washington, D.C. I met Ms. Shyron Kaur Singh, the famous

person who adores Dya while attending the program. He was singing usual stuff, songs, kirtan, some filmi tunes as has explained by Mr. P.P.Singh Sahib. People were clapping (with Shabads), which he was encouraging the audience to do. He was singing the same Shabad (<copy><paste>Jao tao Prem Khelan Ka choou) and was introducing his group in between the lines. This clearly was insult of the Gurbani. This was not tolerable for us. This was the last program of Dya Singh we attended.

We invited Dya Singh to come to our small town of Roanoke, Virginia in August 2000 along with Dheeraj, who plays Tabla in his group. We did Kirtan in Shantiniketan Hindu Temple (www.shantiniketantemple.com), the place we usually rent and do our monthly Kirtan programs in the hall. Some people might not like this, but we do not have a Gurdwara building at this time. We did SGGS Prakash, did Kirtan, Ardas as we always do.

There were no songs, everyone covered their heads, was sitting on the floor. This was followed with Langar.

Dya Singh is targeting the Sikh youths all over and sees his acceptance to this group the most. He frequently visits youth camps to accomplish this. I can also add that our future generations who live in western countries, like him a lot, in part because these individuals do not know much about our history and customs. Dya Singh can influence these by

speaking good English and explaining the Kirtan and

our Maryada to what they want to hear.

    Gur Fateh.

    Mr.Singh

    Sat Sri Akaal

I think you have spread the wrong message to the world , Dya Singh is truly a devoted and talented Sikh and he has inspired many Sikh youth to appreciate bani and to be proud of our Sikh identity .He had also got many to take Amrit too , and he plays an active role in Nawjawan Samelan programmes in Australia, UK , USA , Singapore , Malaysia and many other cities.

Maybe you do not know him personally and this could had been your first acquaintance , if you had met him before the concert , I am sure you would not have allowed the beans in your pocket to pop you up.

Please know your man before you jump the gun in future. He is just a Gurbani loving Gursikh , who gave up his lucrative accountancy profession in Adelaide , Australia , to preach Gurbani to Sikhs and NON Sikhs are the world, maybe his style is different from those you are accustomed with.

  7. i was trying to get into the homepage long time ago by typing thru http://www.mdsct.org.uk.. but couldn't get in.. Now i know that it's one big long url addy.. Thanks for posting the link.. ^_^

Dalip singh was a cool guy.. Actually he wasn't a visionary singh like Mah. Ranjit SIngh, nor he was a paaka sikh..

When dalip singh was in old age (not that old).. He was all bald with no hair on top and no beard (lil beard).. So.. he was kinda on and off SIkh.. I have his picture where he is complete bald and in english dress... HE smokes pipe and do all stuff.. (he was unlucky becauz he grew up by briitish custom).. So anyway can't blame him though.. :D

I believe that he was killed by British Agent.. (Spy/Secret) cauz of his going on talk with Russians.

  8. i think no sikh should live his/her life carrying the burden of their whole society.. I mean live your life on your own, do what you want to do without carrying the burden of whole community.. like thinking "Should i do this? " what would happen to my community reputation if i do this or that"..

my dad told me this once---------

as a sikh in the US.. you have to better than ur other counterpart religions/cultures cuz a sikh has to represent the religion..

    these little things matter

like if u go to a restuarant and be mean to the waiter next time any turbaned man who goes to the restuarant is not gonna get treated too kind

this might be an extreme example but u get the point.

so we have to be extra nice to people so when the next time they see a sikh man they would remember how kind they are

I agree with u all guys ^_^ and it's very civilized thing to do.... But doesn't it kinda wayy too much to

handle.. Like being nice and clean outside u know like showing the good image to the community all tha time...

One time (after 9/11) I was on the way to drop my vietnamese friend to his home and on the way some wacko *white* punk gave me the finger from his car for no reason.. It really <Edited> me off and i tailgated bumper to bumper to that guy for next 15 miles (he was heck of scared though).. I just didn't cared about anything.. Anyway when i told this to my dad/parents.. They said "What i did was huge mistake" and then all blame was on me :D @ and then my dad lectures me the good image stuff.. Which i still don't agree with it.. cauz it's not possible for a person to be in good mood for 24/7 OR faking to be in good mood for the sake of community is too much....

  9. Do people drink enough water?

Most nutrition and health experts recommend drinking at least eight glasses of water a day. But 28% of Americans say they drink two or fewer servings a day and 10% say they dont drink water at all.

Im water guy.. i drink more than 15 a day.. lol.. (two or three bottles @ skool alone)

  10. Five pairs of donkeys tied the knot in an elaborate public wedding hoped to bring rain to the parched south Indian metropolis Madras.

    capt.sge.cna97.280603120241.photo00.default-273x384.jpg

Several hundred devotees chanted mantras to bless the donkeys in eternal union in an hour-long ritual true to local Hindu marriage customs in all respects save species.

Despite the scorching June sunshine, R.K. Bhagavathiraj, a religious scholar who organized the ceremony, said he was certain rain was now on its way.

"Our scriptures have instances of donkeys being married to get rain. I am confident that after this ritual, Lord Varuna (the rain god) will bless Chennai (Madras) with copious rain," Bhagavathiraj said Saturday.

The donkeys were brought in from across the state of Tamil Nadu for the marriage -- and, their bachelor days over, will be shipped back to their owners. The ritual cost just over 100 dollars, said T. Paramanandam, the manager at Bhagavathiraj's office.

While donkey marriages have been conducted in the past as part of prayers for rain in Tamil Nadu villages, it was believed to be the first time such a ceremony was held in Madras.

The city of 6.5 million has a critical shortage of water due to weak monsoons in recent years and a poor distribution system.

For the past several months many Madras residents have had to seek water through tankers from the suburbs -- or, failing that, through donkey marriages.

Britain's Prince of Wales wears a traditional Sikh visitor's scarf as he talks with female worshippers, during a visit to the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Temple, in Southall, London, June 13, 2003. The temple is the largest outside of India.

  12. this is my out look, if u have a pug and drink, plz do it in the confines of ur house or at a punjabi event, but not out in a pub where the ppl can c, as it will wreck the rep of the pug :D )
kiddah pajee.. I do agree your point, but i also disagree with it.. cauz i think no sikh should live his/her life carrying the burden of their whole society.. I mean live your life on your own, do what you want to do without carrying the burden of whole community.. like thinking "Should i do this? " what would happen to my community reputation if i do this or that".. I really hate that.. It suffocates me..
I was just wondering if you drink and smoke and all that stuff is it as bad as cutting your hair and trimming your beard?

And when you do cut your hair, drink, smoke, etc. does that mean your a bad sikh or not even sikh at all?

I see both as equal. Yes both are sins acc. to sikh lifestyle in our gurus eyes. If im not mistaken jee.. i think your question also leads to another point...."Should we

call them "Bad Sikhs or unsikh"?" hmmm.. if we do call them bad sikhs or not even sikhs then we are also Bad Sikhs too.. Why? Cauz it's our Waheugurus' job to judge that not ours :D .. All we can say is that "Sikhs are not allowed to cut hair nor drink." If someone do that let guru ji handle them.

    btw.. Good question..

  13. I still do love Dya Singhs cds and stuff.. but maybe there should be lil limit on it.. Rest is all fine though..

    Got this from forwarding email

    ----

    Dear Gursikho,

I like to bring to your attention the following:

A Sikh named Daya Singh from Australia performed a consort in St. Louis, Gandhi Bhavan, in which he sang Punjabi lok geet, Hindi film songs and also sang Shabads from siri Guru Garanth Sahib Ji tonight. I have never heard any Sikh singing Shabads from Guru Garanth sahib je at the same time and in local pop music, He was clapping during the Shabads himself and encouraging others to clap as well. I took it as an insult to the Guru Shabad. I could listen only for a while but I could not sit there. lost my cool. I went to the stage and told him to stop it, enough is enough. Singing Gurbani from this stage in this format is not appropriate. He did not stop instead told me to sit down and do not disturb. Lot of Sikhs were sitting on Chairs infront of him. He was at a higher stage from the rest of the audience. He continued . I moved aside only to here him singing guru Nanak Dev ji's Shabad again......... Jao tao Prem Khelan Ka choou, ...... and invited four others to volunteer to him as Did Guru Gobind Singh je .... I will be the fifth one to sing the Jakara or what else.... I lost my temper and shouted at him to stop it stop it, I will not allow this kind of insult to continue. At this time couple of other persons got up and the consort was stopped.

Evidently he is very popular among some Sikhs and others, because of his music and musical instruments . He proudly says that he has done Shabads at different places and among large crowds in wh

ich many Sikhs had participated, no one has objected rather liked and encouraged him. He was telling others that he does not need instructions from a rude Sikh, he knows how and where to sing Gurbani.......

I think he is traveling in US at this time and will be visiting other places. I would like all Gursikhs to think it over..... do we want this kind of insult to GurShabad ,,, equating GurShabad and bring to the level of street pop songs...., and he continue to even perform Kirtan in Gurdwaras..... this is one of the reason we are away from local Gurdwaras, and there are two in three in St.. Louis.... I suggest that we watch him. ................ If you see him repeating such nonsense than please speak up and let him know this is not going to be tolerated. Rather I suggest he may not be allowed to do kirtan in Gurdwaras. To my understanding he is a DISGRACE being Sikh,

I was called a RUDE SIKH tonight.... and am out of touch and out dated. I should go and see in African Churches how they sing and be tuned to the God....

I am feeling uncomfortable to write names of some of the Sikhs who were present in this consort and clapping during and after the Gurshabads were being sung. I do not remember songs like ..... Savan AAio re AAIO.., and other Hindi Songs which I don't care.... I am not trying to object him singing Songs and doing Consort... He can do it what ever way he chooses , .... But he cannot and must not be allowed to Sing Gurbani Shabads while singing Hindi songs at the same time and on a pop music setting....

I am told he has one other performance in Gandhi Bhavan on 29th. in St. Louis. Hope he will not repeat this mistake again If He does than Guru Rakha...

I hope and pray that no Gurdwara society allow him to do kirtan in Gurdwara premises. I am sure he has no love for the Guru rather a Manmatia , so are few on his admirers and supporters and sponsors......... ?????

Thanks for your time .. please do take a note of him if yo

u happen to now he is in your neighborhood.

    Thanks

    PPSingh
