Farmer Iqbal Singh Grewal has worked on his banana plantation for more than three decades and said he had never seen damage that bad. "We've been through a few storms before, but this is the worst one," he said. Source - http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2016/06/07/farmers-northern-nsw-vow-recover-devastating-storm

  8. There are good & bad people in all castes, class, religion, race, nationality, age groups. Thing is to praise good & condemn bad irrespective of community. Choice is ours whether to opt for peace or hate.
  9. Can you post this in simple English so I can understand what you mean.
  10. This is all politics. Nobody can stop someone from becoming a Sikh. "Where there's will there's way"
  11. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh This is an extraordinary case therefore you should consult a Gurmukh. Due to Naam di Kamai, Gurmukhs have earned the boon that whatever they do is acceptable to Akalpurakh. Nānak jė gurmukh karahi so parvāṇ hai jo nām rahe liv lāe. ||2|| O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||(SGGS jeeo - Ang 650) Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh
  12. Every Mother Should Tell Her Son Tomorrow you may get a working woman, but you should marry her with these facts as well. Here is a girl, who is as much educated as you are; Who is earning almost as much as you do; One, who has dreams and aspirations just as you have because she is as human as you are; One, who has never entered the kitchen in her life just like you or your Sister haven't, as she was busy in studies and competing in a system that gives no special concession to girls for their culinary achievements One, who has lived and loved her parents & brothers & sisters, almost as much as you do for 20-25 years of her life; One, who has bravely agreed to leave behind all that, her home, people who love her, to adopt your home, your family, your ways One, who is somehow expected to be a master-chef from day #1, while you sleep oblivious to her predicament in her new circumstances, environment and that kitchen One, who is expected to make the tea, first thing in the morning and cook food at the end of the day, even if she is as tired as you are, maybe more, and yet never ever expected to complain; One who is learning just like you as to what you want from her; and is clumsy and sloppy at times and knows that you won't like it if she is too demanding, or if she learns faster than you; One, who has her own set of friends, and that includes boys and even men at her workplace too, those, who she knows from school days and yet is willing to put all that on the back-burners to avoid your irrational jealousy, unnecessary competition and your inherent insecurities; Yes, she can drink and dance just as well as you can, but won't, simply Because you won't like it, even though you say otherwise One, who can be late from work once in a while when deadlines, just like yours, are to be met; One, who is doing her level best and wants to make this most important, relationship in her entire life a grand success, if you just help her little and trust her; One, who just wants one thing from you, as you are the only one she knows in your entire house - your generous support, your sensitivities and most importantly - your understanding, or love, if you may call it. But not many guys understand this....... Please appreciate "HER" Source - http://sikhsindia.blogspot.in/2016/05/every-mother-should-tell-her-sonplease.html
  13. I guess "something is better than nothing". Kind of like Preliminaries, those who want can then proceed to Khande di pahul.
  14. I want to know how Jew, Muslim & Catholic foster parents have faired in similar situations. It is obvious that child would assimilate into culture & religion of his/her foster parents. If ministery officials think otherwise then they are oblivious of human psychology and incompetent to do their job. Why start something which you can't finish ?
  15. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh Ideally both husband & wife must be Amritdhari's. When a couple is sleeping together & having sex, what more is there to be considered JOOTH, think ! In such scenario Punj Piyaras will command her not to sleep with your father so don't force your mother to do PESH. She most probably won't follow such diktat or your father might not allow it. I hope you will understand and Be practical NOT ideological.
  16. Siree Raag, Fifth Mehla: When you are confronted with terrible hardships, and no one offers you any support, when your friends turn into enemies, and even your relatives have deserted you, and when all support has given way, and all hope has been lost -if you then come to remember the Supreme Lord God, even the hot wind shall not touch you. ||1|| Our Lord and Master is the Power of the powerless. He does not come or go; He is Eternal and Permanent. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is known as True. ||1||Pause|| If you are weakened by the pains of hunger and poverty, with no money in your pockets, and no one will give you any comfort, and no one will satisfy your hopes and desires, and none of your works is accomplished -if you then come to remember the Supreme Lord God, you shall obtain the eternal kingdom. ||2|| When you are plagued by great and excessive anxiety, and diseases of the body; when you are wrapped up in the attachments of household and family, sometimes feeling joy, and then other times sorrow; when you are wandering around in all four directions, and you cannot sit or sleep even for a moment -if you come to remember the Supreme Lord God, then your body and mind shall be cooled and soothed. ||3|| When you are under the power of sexual desire, anger and worldly attachment, or a greedy miser in love with your wealth; if you have committed the four great sins and other mistakes; even if you are a murderous fiend who has never taken the time to listen to sacred books, hymns and poetry -if you then come to remember the Supreme Lord God, and contemplate Him, even for a moment, you shall be saved. ||4||
