  1. the proffessor i learned from told us that the sargams and the thana are for when you go to a competiton at a gurdwara you would just do the shabad. Its your choice but i like leaving them out because i rather just sing the shabad then mess up theres fast sargams. When you say sargams you mean thana like you start singing the shabad fast like Dhan uhu preet charan sang sare ga- sare ga- sare gapa dapa gare sa- Alot of classical raagis i guess do these, cuz iv seen this jatha from anadpur saheb these 2 girls who do wikid classical kirtan and they did those plus alaaps which is just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lol
  2. Yea i guess ipods the better choice but the zen has a voice recorder which i dont kno y i think is so great but it does have more functions like a radio but ipods thinner meh
  3. The reason i found it odd is because if a singh is suppose to see his wife as a faithful singhni than it should be the other way around for a singhni to see her husband as a faithful singh not her God. God is our true Husband Lord that we meet when we die, am i right? Yea iv heard it in hindi movies too that the hindu ladies see their husband or worship him and take care of him as their God. That's why i thoguht this line sounds like hinduism not sikhism
  4. Satwant Kaur by Bhai Vir Singh is also a great novel :TH: I finished reading it in one day because it was so interesting plus it was like 80 pages.
  5. So i was reading the rehat maryada http://www.ualberta.ca/~rvig/rehat.pdf and then i came across this line " A SINGH MUST LOOK UPON HIS WIFE AS HIS FAITHFUL SINGHNI AND A SINGHNI SHOULD LOOK UPON HER HUSBAND AS PARMESHWAR(GOD). " Am i the only one that feels theres something odd about this line?
  6. Iv allways wanted to run into those miri piri academy kids in Amritsar. Last year me and my parents were planning on going to the academy but it didnt work out. maybe next year :umm: * Iv allways wanted to have a conversation with foreign white sikhs!
  7. Thats so true you will never see a sardar beegar. Even if there is a beggar in india and he has a turban which is unlikely to happen he prolly wont be an actual sikh. Smart sardar taught your friend a lesson.Sardars all the way
  8. I logged on to the chatroom then another window popped up saying that you have to have another password to actually ge into the specific chatroom (ex.current events......)

  10. I just saw right now your from Canada so if your around the Toronto area go to Sucha Sauda thats where i got my Mp3 cd from
  11. Im pretty sure i have an mp3 cd of Bhai Kamaljeet Singh and this mp3 is called Mere Ram and has like 4 of his tapes on it. I found this pic on the internet to make sure were talking bout the right jatha. If you cant find the tape or mp3 at any store or on the internet i could send the shabads to you somehow by uploding them onto my computer.
  12. I heard a Zen has a recorder and a radio but i personally think it doesnt look as great as an ipod. I want to buy one but i cant use which: Ipod 4gb : 215$ Zen 4 gb : 150?? maybe not sure
  13. Why does it seem like theres more sikhi in Canada compared to India?? From my personal experience of going to india last year it seems like theres not much sikhi there (in youth). Punjab just doesnt seem to chardikala to me personally. The reason why i think this some guys in india wear a turban as fashion, like the whole match the pug and the colour of their shirt. Maybe this is just a girls point of view but why do punjabi guys seem so peverted, not just guys uncles babas like serously its constant starring and checking out girls. Im not saying punjabi kids in Canada are all wonderful but i serously have not see any youth in india have pyar for sikhi, this is just from my experience not like i lived there visited for 2 months. What made me angry was that when i went to Harmandhar Saheb (golden temple) i was with my mom im walking in the parkarma and all these guys wouldnt stop smiling at me and this was my first day there so i was really disgusted. When i say smiling i dont mean nice friendly smiles, perverted smiles. If a girl with a dastar goes to india she would think itd be more common to see girls with dastars in india, but its not really and people stare at you MORE. I dunno what to say drugs are everywhere, punjabis do drugs in india and in foreign countries. I just wanted to ask what the sangat's views on sikhi in punjab are. Sorry if it sounds like im generalizing bhull chuff maff wjkk wjkf

  15. In Search Of the True Guru By: Bhai Rama singh ji (from Manmukh to Gursikh) I got this book from my friend but check your local sikh literature shop. If you live in the toronto area go to Sucha Sauda.
  16. If anyones read the bhai Rama ji's book In search for the True Guru, I read in this book that bhai Rama ji was really depressed hearing about atrocities the Sikhs were sufferring (in 1984). So that night he couldn't sleep but when he closed his eyes a shaheed singh came to console him and he told Bhai Rama ji (quote directly from the book) "Only the true Khalsa is qualified to rule, but today's Khala is not the true Khalsa...." "The whole country would suffer as a result of the cruelty at Amritsar" "Punjab will suffer great losses. There is a dark cloud over punjab because the punjabis have not followed the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. They have faltered from the path and sided with falsehood. The harvest of sin will be first reaped by punjab, then by the rest of india" Note: These quotes are taken directly from the book from the Chapter titled " The Signs of Khalsa Raj" bhul chuff maff karni I hope my post has been relevant to this topic
