great post problem is advisor is probably committee member and these people are the ones who allowed these situations in the first place!

Yeah i can agree on the above point from the viewpoint of india.
can you agree it is hard for a foreign gvt to understand not doing something on religious reasons and then not doing the alternative because your not THAT religious

EDL wont stop with just extremist muslims wont be long before they turn on sikhs, at the end of the day we dont need these people to help promote our issues we can deal with it ourselves.
p.s sarabha punjab any idea which government grants they got shouldnt be to hard to find out and put sunny hundal on the stop

maybe not in the indian case highlighted but i can see ramifications in the uk. one of the main reasons police in the uk wear hats is because they become identifable so in a shoot out a officer wont shoot another officer. Now the uk has allowed sngh/singhnia to wear a dastaar as part of the religion but what you are asking for is even more change so that people who dont want to wear a cap based on religous reasons then go on to say they dont want to wear a dastaar either (how confusing for a government that doesnt actually know that much about sikhs)....easier answer get a job without a uniform

Do you go around pulling caps off mona who call themselves sikhs? if your sikh you should wear a dastaar if not you cant use im sikh as a get out clause <banned word filter activated>

Please look at manvimttu/balait_da_sher response to this question! If a singhni doesnt wear a dastaar she should abide by the law...same as in this country unless a singh wears a dastaar he has to wear a policemans hat! This is what you call uneducated response. Let me guess you are in your teens or in your 20's. Many Sikh women do not wear a dastar, but cover their head in a different way. So understand this point first. Next point you should understand is that a Sikh CANNOT wear a hat. If you took a second out of your day to read the rehat i presented you would understand that Sikhs CANNOT wear a hat.

Buy yourself a Sikhi dictionary and look up miri and piri. Focus more on reading Gurbani with concentration, instead of reading like you are doing Guru Sahib a favor by reading Gurbani.
Are you actually struggling to comprehend what is written...i know the meaning of miri and piri! You highlighted a secular degree as being a bad thing maybe you should get one as your struggling to see how it relates to miri!
"Focus more on reading Gurbani with concentration, instead of reading like you are doing Guru Sahib a favor by reading Gurbani"
I agree this is a good tip for you more gurbani less spouting nonsense that has no relation to anything we are discussing!

what about all those kids at nursery with there 3pm milk and naps....tut tut

aaaaaawwwww......the western liberal mindset of feminism was injured...........you should look into getting another secular degree and then maybe feminism could be understood in Sikhi.........the phrase, think outside the box might just push you along :biggrin2:
Brilliant can you clarify what the western liberal mindset of feminism is?
Forgive me if im wrong but didnt our guru's teach us to have both miri and piri quite funny how people who dont have any secular knowledge shun it away.
My last post on this subject as it as veered away from the subject pretty rapidly and im sure only five would come out with more garbage that he doesnt really understand ...(google is not always your friend)

And you say based on your beliefs that a person's sexuality is the main reason for marriage. Ever seen a man being dragged around by his wife because his sexual inclination has taken over his brain? The world is a lab. If everyone in this world is to be treated as your brother or sister can you have a sexual inclination for them? Why would Guru Sahib tell everyone to refer to others as their brothers and sisters, when by your understanding sexual inclination is a or main reason for marriage?
Many people put Sikhi in a box because of their shortcomings. I can't escape this, so Sikhi says its okay to commit such and such. I can't comprhend this, so Sikhi says it can be done or can't.....whatever i concluded with my limited ability. I wonder how big Akal Purakh is for those who put Sikhi in a box.
Can't wait till the dominate women stand up for their equal rights and have two sexually inclined husbands marching behind them with there little bells and leashes on. They are going to look so cute!!!!!!
sorry where do i mention sexual inclination in my post? really dont know where you are going with your post!
either way i think singh559 hit the nail in the coffin pretty much sums up the best answer that we will have on here.

yes it is your interpretation of bani i offered a point of view which i never said was 100% this is a place to debate not to thrust your illogical arguments on others. High granthi or strict sikh unlike you i learn from my life experiences i do not sikh out "these baba/sants/high granthis" if i meet some chardikala singh/singhni in sangat i will take on their views and see where we differ
I would guess the majority of us where born in a sikh household and i guess nearly everyone's parents did paath each and every morning(ps we are not christians we dont have a special sunday just for the gurdwara lol), unlike u im obviously not into deep sikhi so your comments obviously go right over my head!
my point that i put forward was that being gay/a woman is not against sikhi your only rebuttal was that sex is for pro creation however that is flawed as if a woman/man was barren would that mean that the should not have married? instead of throwing about abuse how about answering the question?

i have always wondered what these images are based on? d they just depict guru nanak as a saintly older man hence the white beard and kind face?

had a little read on this subject much of the science behind it went over my head any summary would be appreciated.
Seems that people who suffer from TLE are more suscepitble to visions and there is a high % of hyperreligousity and increased OCD. An article on it suggests that it may be the "god spot" which although interesting doesnt have any scientific backing!
but i would like to jab that spot see what happens lol!

Singh,
I hope you feel better about where you are but please dont think you did the wrong thing. Circumcision is related to Islam and as such you may here some bad stuff about it. But you have done absolutely nothing wrong if it eases your mind maybe take a hukumnama.

This is what happens to a panth run by the uneducated, you see only black and white in a life full of grey.No wonder record numbers of sikhs are actually turning away from amrit where with one hand we promote EQUALITY from all then posters like the above start putting sanctions on this only applicable fully to men....women are equal when we want them to be? homosexuality against sikhi because of harmann1990's INTERPRETATION of bani (p.s 1990 makesyou 21/22 probably havent experienced much of the world)

Wow thats the only thing you have to contribute to this topic.....so what if the ragi is gay...sikhi is not against homosexualityLets take it easy on this joke... male ragi gay? .. n sangat gay? i highly doubt you will ever find a gay Sikh anywhere.. Bani teaches us of the relationship between a man and a woman.. and that marriage is for support and pro-creation.. Sikhi is based on a family oriented culture.. so lets not go too far in calling a ragi, who does Kirtan, gay.. thanks
