singhs in the past used to do so much nitneam, it was unbelieveable.

now a days, nitneam is only 7 banis, but i heard katha, and giani ji says singhs used to read bani after bani in which they called nitneam, used to sit for hours and hours doing nitneam....

Don't treat it like an idol, but be respectful when holding it. Most people I know, just touch it to their head. Never seen anyone do a full on matha tek to it. Besides, it's better to excercise the most respect in Guru Sahib's darbar, than be very relaxed about it.

yea u matha tek chore sahib ji...just like you matha tek ur elders.....jsut like you matha tek those first steps when you first enter darbar sahib....just like nihang singhs do matha tek to their horses, to their shastrs....just like you do matha tek to gutka sahibs before reading them.....

yes we should only believe in guru ji, and only bow our heads infront of him, but your telling me you wouldnt do matha tek to your grandparents becasue there not guru ji?

its a different type of matha tek with guru ji, and different for the things i listed above....but in reality they are both matha tek....

Hi everybody, a little about myself im a sikh but non practising, i have hair cut i drink alcohol and i used to smoke. Recently i had a dream where i was in the Gurdwara sitting listeniong to the kirtan and next to me was sat Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In my dream he did speak to me and i was speaking to him but i have recollection of this conversation. Can anyone tell me what this may mean ?

amrit is no joke, and is no walk in the park.

if you feel unsure about the rehat part, practise wakeing up in the mornings and doing nitneam.

first get pakha, and know the panj bani's. once you get the hang of it, take amrit. but dont let marriage stop you.
