The Khanda was slightly different shaped at the time of Sri Hargobind ji. Since Nihangs are probably the oldest embodiement of the Sikh warrior tradition they wear this modified version that reflect the Siphahi side, whereas the "modern" Khanda reflects the Sant and Siphahi side. searching on the internet i found that the khanda was never used or to be seen in maharaja ranjit singhs times, the khanda was developed by the british apparantly. the only symbol sikhs used was ik onkar, or a double edged sword.

guys i just wanted to know why nihangs wear a different shaped khanda? Was that the khanda that was used in sri guru hargobind sahibs times and has it changed over time?
