    Warning

Sadh Sangat Ji, Whether you believe me or not, Dass was told a week ago that Sant Baba Ji (Beg forgiveness from the sangat as I can't disclose more) in India went into to a lock down of sorts and has been reading bani nonstop not answering any calls even from his son in Canada. I haven't asked much more into it because I've been trapped in maya (exams ) for this last little while. Whether there is a flood or natural disaster coming I have no budhi and don't know. I beg that sangat does increase thier nitnem bani and bhagti though as kalyug seems to be amping it up. vjkk vjkf

    Coming Changes

By interesting do you mean you found an example of people saying the end is here and nothing happened? Or are you saying we should pay attention to the signs of the coming times? I'd be very interested to here your thoughts on this topic ji.
  3. Well at least we agree that through gurmat and gurbani we are protected. But you never answered the main points: Where can we draw the line between fact and fiction? Is dharam raaj real? Are the different khands mentioned in jap ji sahib real? The soul? chitr gupt? Or were these ideas present and Guru Sahib used them to his advantage? And you failed to comment on Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji's experiences. Can you please provide a response to these as well?
  4. What your asking to do is what Jesus did isn't it? Take all of the sins of the world and die emancipating everyone? Now I have very limited buddhi so I can't say how many years of thupasiya Jesus did but it must have been immense. As wicked warrior said do more bani and in ardass do it for the chardi kala, propagation, and protection of the panth.
  5. I remember listening to a parcharak talking about how cold baths are important but like Jangal Da said there is a difference between the cold water they had back then and the cold water that comes out of our plumbing systems. Supposedly the water we get is much colder. Therefore don't crank your tootee all the way to the blue, find something between cold and luke warm I guess. I personally suck at practicing this. I've developed a bad habit of taking hot showers. Which is why I sometimes fall asleep after my shower :sad2:

    Boxing

Agreed, it's for training purposes and it's not like its a fashion statement, just make sure your dhara doesn't get stuck in those buckle things. Maybe tie a ramal around them after putting it on or something. Train Hard!
  7. Veerai with that same mentality of gurbani one could say that there is no dharam raj or no chitr gupt and that guru sahib imagined these up to scare the "ignorant masses". Where do you draw the line as to what is fiction and fact? And your example of Santa clause is very good. But that only works if the kid believes in Santa. Otherwise if he knew it was their parents giving the presents, he would pretend to be good in front of his parents and be bad everywhere else and still reap the rewards. What I think your suggesting is that Guru sahib used the false stories of jamdoots to scare people until there was enough Bhau and prem in their hearts for them to be solid in sikhi and maintain through love and etc. Which could make sense, unless we had real life examples: Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji biography, written by Sant Baba Seva Singh Ji For those who don't know of Baba Ji's jeevani I would recommend that they read this biography called 'Se Kinehiya' in which we get a glimpse of how Baba ji did bhagti and how he was tried by many ghosts and even more amazingly when Kaam tried to do a vaar on Baba Ji and he withstood its full attack with kirpa of guru ji. Below is a small excerpt but I implore all to read about Baba Ji's jeevani as its full with so many wonderful stories and lessons it's hard to put in words. http://rampurkhera.com/publication Rampur Khera (Mound) This mound has a separate story. Among all the ancient mounds of the Punjab, this particular mound, is known as “cursed mound” Under some calamity of nature the place suddenly disappeared perhaps like Mahenjo-daro and never rehabilitated. A curse from heaven could only be removed by a holy soul. The place has been blessed, after many centuries, due to Surgvasi Sant Harnam Singh Ji who worshipped here for half a century. During his austerities many cursed souls, challenged the Saint to disturb him while he was fully absorbed in true Naam. But, by the Grace of Waheguru Baba Harnam Singh Ji ultimately succeeded. All the accursed souls left this mound. The place once again became a Sach-Khand an immortal place by Baba Ji and its name got changed from theh (deserted place) to Khera (a spiritually blissful place).
  8. If someone tells you their is a fire burning in that house, don't go in. Then you still go, you get burned. When Gurbani tells you to live your life a certain way, and you don't follow....(fill in the blank) From my limited understanding you get laha from gurbani always. But if you don't follow it or learn from it your limited to how far you can spiritually progress. Evil things love places with no sucham. If your home is filled with meat/eggs/alcohol you cannot be fully protected. Your body/mind houses your soul so it is in a similar situation as well. I'm not sure if I'm being presumptuous here( If I am forgive me), but that is no excuse to go to anyone else but Guru Sahib and his sikhs for help. If it is for yourself, you know what you have to change. If your seeking advice for other, and here I have experience as I have those living in my home who do not fully believe in sikhi, bani + ardass is the only way. Beg for them a gursikh jeevani, naam simran dee daat. try to keep your house as clean as possible. Buy a refrigerator for your garage or backyard and keep all that stuff there until its gone 100%. For those of you who say we are allowed eating meat. I say your right. But I'm going to assume your being persecuted, have been starving for days, your homes have been destroyed, your fighting wars, your killing the animals yourselves (Following the rules of Jhatka), and your not chasing chickens but fighting man eating lions who have been terrorizing villages. If your plumping yourself down in front of taco bell, then yes, you are wrong. Go home and eat the daal roti your mom made for you, it has plenty of protein.
  9. That's the rehit given by most panj piareh. The Muslim flag green color (google it) and very vibrant or blood red colors ( I've been told by some burgundy is ok). The reasoning for the red I can't remember as my punjabi wasn't top notch when I took amrit but I think it has something to with it attracting the eye, or being flashy? If anyone with more knowledge please share
  10. Isn't that statement a fallacy? or if not a fallacy, erroneous? We should adhere to Gurbani, and have faith in it. Then as mentioned numerous times in Gurbani there are ghost, pooth, prets, all that nice stuff. I agree, a Gursikh becomes untouchable, but then you call them fallacies. Isn't that a fallacy, saying that pooths and prets are not real/misconceptions but then saying to adhere to Gurbani which states that they are real? If they were not real why would we need Waheguru Ji's protection? (refer to gurbani below please ) Therefore to the OP the best way of looking at this is yes there is black magic, ghosts, evils, w.e. How do we save our selves? hir ismrq ikCu cwKu n johY ] har simarath kishh chaakh n johai || Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the Eye of Death cannot see you. hir ismrq dYq dyau n pohY ] har simarath dhaith dhaeo n pohai || Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, demons and ghosts shall not touch you. hir ismrq mohu mwnu n bDY ] har simarath mohu maan n badhhai || Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, attachment and pride shall not bind you. hir ismrq grB join n ruDY ]2] har simarath garabh jon n rudhhai ||2|| Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, you shall not be consigned to the womb of reincarnation. ||2|| By seeking the protection of the Lord. Therefore the best prevention/protection is Gurbani. When can we be harmed? When we are weak in our spirituality. Therefore strengthen your spirituality if you are afraid, or give this advice to others if they feel like they need to go to these pandits. But to just trash something because we can't fully see it or understand it is absurd. Time is a tricky thing. We look at it like everyone in the past was ridiculous, blundering around being stupid. Now we are the right ones and we get to scorn those who still live in the past. Not really, it seems much more circular, rediscovering, losing, inventing, reinventing. Everyone is focused on how modern, and progressed the world is compared to the past but look at all the old forgotten sciences which were originally thought to be baseless and our now being researched and validated. The scientific method/thought process is far from perfect but people apply it to everything now a days. Truthfully, science is corrupted. You only research things that make money, or you do research in truly important fields and live broke, get laughed at and your research sits in archives. They get the caste of "untouchable" until some rich guy comes along and wants it researched so he can make money off of it! by this point the original researchers career is over or their dead..... so yeah. Sorry I went on a bit of a tangent, but long story short: it's there, do you're paat, you'll be good. Convince others to do paat as well, they'll be good, and you'll get brownie points!

    Year

Veeer jee you seem to know things. I beg you to enlighten us.
  13. Dass is grateful for all of the advice, and as you have put it, with kirpa, onwards and upwards from here. Veer Sun Singh, could you please post a few of these shabads?
  14. Give up your secrets to satguru and beg for some of his in advice in return. Then go eat a jalebi, always makes me feel better
  15. WJKK WJKF Das needs some help straightening out his thoughts and thought he would ask for the advice of sangat. This is a bit of a spiel, I apologize in advance. I'm 21 years old and have no discipline what so ever. It's changing now mostly because of Guru Kirpa, I always do ardaas before doing anything and have been getting up for amritvela regularly now. It's even changed my studies as I tend to procrastinate less and actually do work ahead of time. I'm so happy that Guru sahib has taken mercy on me, but I feel very depressed it has taken so long for me to grow up. I'm in my fourth year of uni and even though my grades are not bad, they are not top notch either. I'm not stupid, I can be quite smart when I'm focused (guru kirpa). But why did it take so long? I took amrit 3 years ago, with grace of Guru ji, I have had the kirpa of doing sangat of many of the greatest gursikhs and only now am I finally stable. My studies, gurbani studies, music, physical activity all have been in limbo. I feel like I've wasted my life. Realistically I have a few years of education left and then work and quickly after marriage. What do I have to offer to a wife and children. I feel like I'm worthless. I've loved music as a child and got the best marks in the school and awards for music. But after grade 10ish when teachers stop pushing you and expect you to grow up, my life fell apart. People tried to push me to work hard but I could never do it. It was always "Ok I will", I got motivated, and hen fell apart again. So now, Im about to finish education, ok to good grades (only with kirpa), if I land a good job it will only be through immense kirpa, and I have no kirtan/music/limited gurbani skills. I feel so devastated that I ruined my life because I was lazy and undisciplined. How pathetic is that? I go to the sangat and see gursikhs who have so much kirpa on them, and understand guru sahib does everything for a reason, and that I did come into sikhi later in life and don't have the best environment (not very sikhi based family), but... and here's the problem. Is it me? Is it that my karma have pushed me in this direction? Is this what god has written for me? Or is this my fault for not taking advantage of the chances and resources given to me. Is this just a hindsight is 20/20 deal or is this how my life was supposed to play out? I feel very...crushed right now. Not hopeless because I know Guru ji will always help, but I feel like such a disappointment. Is this tere bane Sarbat ka Bhala? Is this what was best for me for this life? I feel like I'm attributing blame to guru ji which is the last thing I should be, but I need to make sense of these things so I can move on from here. My life will get better, With guru kirpa i think I am at a point where i wont fall to far again, but in order to grow I need to sort this out. I don't have anyone I feel I can ask this except the SS forum which has helped me in the past. So daas begs for a little budhi, some kind words, and harsh words are welcomed as well as I probably deserve them.
  16. Various maryada's. I think the most simplest is do simran while your burning them. maybe do a shoti ardaas first. Be careful when your burning them, 1. If you do it indoors it quite smelly, 2. I've burnt my fingers many a time trying to burn fallen kesh, Gursikho are the use of accelerants allowed during kesh sanskar? A little aerosal can spray and lighter flamethrower?
  17. Should I stop studying for my 2 exams tomorrow and read Bani? The way you guys are amping me up, I want to leave everything but Bani,Seva and physical activity behind.
  18. Vaah ji Vaah, Dhan Vaheguru. Dhan guru pyare like Bhai Kulbir Singh who spread so much knowledge and gyan and save papi's like me!

    left hand use

If anyone says anything, slap them with your left hand to show it's just as good as your right! All jokes aside, it doesn't matter in the slightest, unless your gunna learn kirtan or tabla, you may have to adjust your hand or saaj depending.
  20. I tie a small keski and wrap my kirpan, gatra, and kanga inside. I take a normal bath. Then once done, switch kashera, I dry off, put kirpan gatra back on and put my kanga on my gatra. Then lean over with my head in the tub and wash my hair. dry off. and ta da! It's a bit hard on your back and can be messy. I should just have a second set of kakaar for ishnaan, might be easier,
  21. I won't lie, I added some masala to the title by paraphrasing this part of the article: “In terms of the specific concerns that you raised, let me just be very clear, and I know I speak broadly for Canadians,” Mr. Harper “Canada is a very strong supporter of a united India. This is a view that is shared not just widely in Canada but very widely and very mainstream among our Indo-Canadian community.”
  22. I think it all depends on you. My massi ji is a chardikala Gursikh and always recites bani while making food. Most amazing Chitay Sholay Sabjee EVER!! Dass has recently started to refrain from eating out, trying to eat only food prepared at home or by family members. Not all of them are gursikh but we don't eat meat or alcohol or anything and to be honest I feel like it does change things. I've just started this so I'm not too sure exactly what it is. For one thing my wallets getting a bit thicker, and my stomach is thinning out a bit I'm not gunna starve myself and never eat out. Social situations and life can sometimes force it upon you. But whatever keeps your Sikhi stable and growing at the end of the day is what's important. Dass P.S. This line of gurbani came to Dass's mind when he listened to OP. rYix gvweI soie kY idvsu gvwieAw Kwie ] rain gavaaee soe kai dhivas gavaaeiaa khaae || The nights are wasted sleeping, and the days are wasted eating. Not to cause offense, but as we should see this world as illusionary, stuff like food doesn't matter from that perspective. So if food from home and outside tastes the same, and there is potential dangers in eating out and gains to be eating from the home. It kinda makes the whole eating out thing moot. But there are some awesome places in toronto. Khalsa Pizza! Bibeki pizza! Amazing!
  23. Article in the Globe and Mail: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/india-raises-concern-with-harper-over-support-in-canada-for-sikh-separatism/article4958650/ I am posting a view neither against Khalistan nor for it. I am posting this because I think it should be brought to the attention of the Sikh community. We need to educate the western world on what we as a people have gone through. Furthermore the repercussions of articles like this are very serious. What happened? We used to be known for our outstanding morals, hard work, charity, selfless service of humanity, unbreakable faith. Not anymore. Very few people know the greatness of Sikhi including my brothers and sisters growing up here in the west. I'm not saying I'm a great Gursikh, I beg for the Ot-Asra of Guru Sahib so I can be like some of the chardikala Guru Pyarai I know. But REAL Sikhi, my beloved Guru's Sikhi, should spread like wildfire. It should leave people in awe. It should shake them to the core. It should awaken their soul. What's wrong, what have we done as Sikh's, because something's not right here guys. I'm just beginning my journey and have no wisdom. I beg of my elders and more knowledgeable family. What do we do?
  24. Shouldn't have posted in gupt, am now reposting in General...unless it get's more views this way, mod's choice
