  1. I can read punjabi, just not extremley well. I was hoping for a english version but if you have a link to it in punjabi that would be great as well, because i could not find it online at all.
  2. Need an english translation of Bhai Mani Singh's Gian Ratanavali which is from what I understand to be the most trustworthy of the various Janamsakhis of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. If anyone could shed some light on where I can get a copy or which one is the best source of info Das would be very greatfull. Any other good sources in terms of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's life would be awesome. Needs to be easy to read and english. VJKK VJKF
  3. ahhh with so many chardi kala gursikhs on this forum someone can help me, or at least lead me to a similar source of knowledge of good reputation?
  4. http://gurbani101.net/ VJKK VJKF Sangat Jeo the above website is an awesome resource because it explain the literal meaning of bani in a great way. They split up line in terms of each word and then put the words together so we understand where the meaning comes from. My problem is though i read the sikh rehit maryada they posted as well which does not include chaupai sahib and anand sahib as a daily bani though they do provide a translation for anand sahib as well. My benti is that if some gursikh more knowledgeable than me in the meaning of bani could take a look at the steek and tell me if it is correct. My main concern is that I don't want to learn the bani wrong, and I've started doubting the translation because of the shifty maryada on the website! Sangat ji please karo kirpa!
  5. Can someone with more gian than me do seva and help this guys understand sikhi. I thought at first he was just looking for answers but now it seems that he is looking for a fight and I don't feel like i have enough knowledge to represent our kaum to the level it deserves. I've tried being friendly but I don't think I can can persuade him and i not sure if its worth fighting with this brother. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtMH_8P0zGc
  6. The song also says "hey sharabi what you wanna brew, ek glassee turn it into two". Now either the singh who made this is young and stupid and didn't listen to the words before making this "remix" Or taking into account the title of this thread is "it gives a hint of who he is", this fool is bashing Sant Ji. Word of advice, take the video down and apologize before it gets out of hand and your labelled as a hater.

    Gay Brother

Some of the posts I've read so far are causing me some concern, no offense to earlier posters at all ji. But, trying to "change him" may not be the right thing to do. This situation is one where there is not a lot of answers coming from sikhi but more of a cultural perspective. I've read some earlier posts where people say it's just kaam. But the latest research says that, as we all know, gender is determined in womb, but now it's going further to say that when your having a male baby, there are female structures in the brain that are scarred by the testosterone allowing for the child to think like a male. A deficit in testosterone at that point of the pregnancy causes the part of the brain that imparts female qualities to remain and therefore gives you a gay child. Those are people who are born being gay. Some people also choose to be gay depending on the nurturing environment they grow up in as a child. What I'm trying to say is....well, it's a question we all ask? Is it ok to be gay? I'm not sure. Can we call it an illness, a physiological problem? I know I'm posting more questions than answers, and to be honest I don't like thought of two men or women being married, to me it seems unnatural, BUT would I ever condemn a gay couple because of their choices? Never. If they are just trying to live their lives as they see fit, who are we to stop them? Another way of looking at it is when people from other cultures look at sikhs with our dastaars and kesh, they think we are unnatural. Does that give them a right to stop us? Just food for thought, and to the poster I pray that your family is reunited!

Also if someone can help me find a link to a shabad where the kirtanee is doing a kehrva shabad and the tabla is quiet or something like that for me to practice with. Or if anyone who plays table could tell me what they did when they didn't have a vaja player to practice with Would really appreciate it! Thank you! WJKK WJKF

  20. vjkk vjkf OK, In case I got anyone hopes up, I'm sorry!!!!!! But I told my nephews about it a few years ago and they reminded me about it today and I was just wondering...whats going on? Now that the websites down as well there's no way of contacting those in charge either.... So if anyone has info, or knows the gursikhs working on the project could you please request an update. I understand that they are all working on this during their spare time but its been a while and they've gone MIA so if they've scrapped the project or something it would be nice to know. vjkk vjkf
  21. OK, so i found this on a website: The Akashic Records stored or housed in Subconscious or Universal Mind are a permanent record of everything that has ever been said, thought, and done. One who is able to access this inner, Universal library of mind has before him or her an accurate history and universal knowledge. http://www.som.org/9intuition/akashicrecords.htm Does Sikhi believe in these records, Like I know everything we do, speak, and think is recorded to be used to judge us, but I never heard about anyone being able to to read this account themselves :S
  22. WJKK WJKF! Sangat Ji I was reading the STTM translation of JapJi Sahib to help me understand it, and when I got to this line, I read Akaashic ethers and came up with a blank. I googled it, and couldn't find it and am wondering if someone can explain them to me? suixAY Driq Dvl Awkws ] suniai dharath dhaval aakaas | Listening-the earth, its support and the Akaashic ethers. 23. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Ji, I was just wondering what is the significance of lighting a joth(like with melted butter and a cotton wick) and doof (incense, black stuff, rolled into balls that lets of smoke and smells nice ) at home in sikhi? Any sakhi's, or gurbani quotes, or any reasoning behind it?
  24. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2009/07/30/bc-east-vancouver-school-fire.html There is a picture of Guru Sahib being taken out by firefighters carried in a white cloth, Guru Sahib looks untouched by fire, but wet, no one seems to have been hurt.
