  1. You should watch this youtube video which ill try to find the link to and post later on. Basically the singh feels that no girl wants to marry him due to his dastar/beard. So under peer pressure he cuts his hair and his parents throw him out. He does all this just to get a girl. But to his shock the girl he liked turns into a singhnee and then when he tries to approach him she basically tells him what his done is really wrong especially as soo many singhs/singhnees have given shaheediya than give up their gursikhi roop. In the end he becomes a amrithari singh. Moral: its not your dastar/beard that's the problem its your own paranoid thinking.

  2. Talk to a older gursikh british born has they'll be more understanding. Or contact kaurageous. They probably have singhnees who can help you more or least will guide you better. Sis your 24 you've been through a lot; I know the feeling of been through more than most people even in their later years. See it as a blessing as everything makes you stronger (hard to believe at times I know)

  3. Simple question to ask is would punj pyara bhai daya singh je or any of the panj pyare say waxing was ok? I think you'd find the answer is no. Actually at my amrithsanchar panj pyare stated do NOT remove any hair regardless of were it is. Now that was Guru Gobind Singh je talking to us at the amrithsanchar. So if panj said no. A no is a no. Right? I don't understand why we debate small things when we wouldn't do if our maternal fathers told us not to do something for own benefit. Why do we feel the need to question what Guru je tells us? If we see mahraji as our father we shouldn't question these things. Whatever Mahraji says They say/instruct to us for a reason which we may or may not understand.

  4. Harpreet1 your comments are daft to put it nicely.

As for going gurdwara sahib whilst on period; long as singhnee in question feels comfortable and able to go (this time can be painful) then it shouldn't matter to anyone else. Going gurdwara sahib is a personal connect between a person and mahraji so no one else should matter. Some of the comments make a period sound like a disease or something; its natural. God gave women periods for a reason as everything last thing happens for a reason.

  5. Try adding 5 chaupi sahib paats to your daily nitem. You'll see the strength within yourself.

Do the chaupai sahib paats from your heart and do them for the chalidkala of the khalsa panth.

Also try doing moolmantar paat in addition to your nitem to. Your character as a gursikh will strengthen so much with guru jis kirpa :)

  6. Personally I hate rap, hip hop, bhangra etc but have never been a big fan of this kinda stuff. The only kind of 'music' that gives us a positive vibe/'buzz' is kirtan. We could argue that oh rap doesn't effect us in a negative way or that yoy listen to it due to the beats. But slowly the words of rap (from what iv been told) are related to anti-gurmat things, the words will spin round in your head at somepoint.

I tried this theory by listening to a few seconds of a bollywood song. Before I knew it the few words I'd heard were ringing in my head were as normally I'd have kirtan in my head. Point been only true buzz/hype your going to get in relation to music is not through rap, hip hop, bhangra etc but by listening to kirtan/katha.

  7. We also could do with more programs like the ipledge orange tour. It would be great if we could even get weekday deevans eg an hour of english katha on a wednesday. That way youth would want to go gurdwara sahib during the week and not just on a sunday because its the done thing. However personally I think most importantly we need to explain to youth what actually is a gurdwara sahib. Most probably don't know or understand that guru granth sahib je are our king of kings and that gurdwara sahib is guru jis court. These things need to be explained because unless they are most youth will remain lost.

  8. I'd say go take amrith without your dad knowing. I took amrith guptly; only my friends and cousin knew till 3 months later when I decided to tell family. Mum was bit mad; ill never understand why & dad and other members of family were really happy. Go for it little sis :) I'd say for strength start moolmantar jaap addition to your nitem. It'll help you loads :)

  9. this argument interlinks to the argument some desi's state about amrith to. "Oh I'm pure inside etc what's point of becoming amrithari?".

    Please watch this video:

Its a video recording of bhai harvinder singh nirvair khalsa jatha. About an hour or so into the deevan (its a recording from a deevan).

  10. The use of some slang is probably related to high school kids and most probably grow out of it come uni/once out of school. But its highly annoying. They use words that make no sense lol. Find it more annoying though when whilst talking people use text terms like LOL (if that make sense). The jean thing is just daft lol doesn't suit or look right. I would say its teen culture not gangster/black really.
