  2. From what I know, Niddar Singh has met the Baba Gyana Singh allegedly teaching Jang Vidiya, but he admitted to not having knowledge of the higher penthras, basic stuff and vaars etc only. Baba Gyana Singh "Rabb Ji" taught allot of people near the times of the partition to help them defend themselves against mobs of attackers, however it was quick skills in order for he Sikhs to make do as best as they could duing the troubled time. People must appreciate that the lower level skills and the highest levels are worlds apart.

Does anyone know how long Baba Gyana Singh learnt under "Rabb Ji"?

indeed, he said the same thing to me that baba gyana singh didnt know the higher pentras only the low forms and some bits of the lower pentras.

  3. i said on a post a while ago one of my friends in my business class wanted me to say the ''rasssoul'' thats the bit muslims say when they say mohammed is the true prophit no one else is as good or what ever allah only one etc.

but the reason he wanted to convert me is because i can 'dance' through enemy formations without being harmed and i can merge with weapons! and kill thousands :p

  4. brahmins aint done crap. do you see them with a knife on a sikhs throat telling him/her to follow caste?

aakal purakh gave us the brain for a reasons, but majority of the sikhs have constantly failed to use our head and follow guru granth sahib ji.

brahmins were also around when sikhs stood as one under nishan sahib and refused to believe in the caste system. the difference was then sikhs followed sikhi completely, not like today where most of the sikhs including me follow one part and totally ignore the other. then we have the guts to tell others we are sikhs of the guru. forget about all other beadbis done by deras etc, we do the biggest beadbi by telling others we are sikhs yet we ignore all the teahings that happen to be a little more difficult than wearing a kara.

    ^^^good post !

  6. what is jang vidhiya? sounds interesting.

was that a serious question :S?

if it was a actual question then the answer to it is ''another word for shastar vidiyta, jung means war vidiya means science knowledge etc so its basically like knowing how to fight in war or something on them lines.. or it could be war art, any one of those is the right answer

its just another name for shastar vidiya

i know what the literal meaning was, its just i thought shastar vidiya is how to use weapons but jung vidiya could be the tactics of commanding forces (like a sikh version of 'the art of war'). if the two terms are the same, thats ok, thanks for telling me.

my friend, shastar vidiya is also how to fight unarmed, grappling, jung tactics, knowing battle formations etc etc.

jung vidiya is shastar vidiya we can be taught about tactics etc but it wouldnt really be used in britain maybe in the pind if someone tries screwing the pind over you could use jung tactics lol maybe

  8. it was ment to be kept gupt within faujis only. an army doesnt share its weapons and knowledge with the world, just as jang vidhiya was to be kept gupt, but ended up becoming too gupt. people out there still know it just dont advertise it. there is a fauji at raqba that learned from Akali Nihang Baba Giana Singh 'Rabb Ji' ... niddar's gurdev's gurdev who supposedly openly teaches jang vidya and not gatka

yeah ive heard this aswell when someone on this forum said to me but i failed to believe it but id rather have someone from raqba confirm vidiya is being taught there!

  9. pls elaborate on him being the last 'gurdev' ???

him being the last gurdev means, he is the only teacher LEFT who teaches Shastarvidiya, there were many akharas during the 16th-18th century and the akara which niddar is gurdev of is called ''Baba Darbara Singh Runjeet Shastar Vidiya Akhara''which was established in 1661, the teacher linage is as followed :

1.Akali Nihang Baba Darbara Singh (who also learned from Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh Ji)

    2. Akali Nihang Baba Budh Singh Ji

    3. Akali Nihang Baba Sukha Singh Ji

    4. Akali Nihang Baba Lakha Singh Ji

    5. Akali Nihang Baba Sawan Singh 'Bangroo'

    6. Akali Nihang Baba Mangal Singh Ji

    7. Akali Nihang Baba Giana Singh aka 'Rabb Ji'

    8. Akali Nihang Baba Mohinder Singh Ji aka 'Katapa Singh'

    9. Nihang Niddar Singh Ji (present 'Gurdev')

so as you can see from this, niddar singh is the 9th teacher of the akhara and he is the only person who FULLY knows shatsarvidiya.

many people say this nihang baba knows the vidiya etc that may be true as there are some nihangs who do know SOME bits of the vidiya but no one knows the full martial art but there may be a possibility there is a nihang in india who knows the vidiya but hasnt told anyone and has kept it gupt like it is meant to be.

I thought id let everyone know i burnt my pizza because i was writing this and i forgot about my pizza

    lol (@ pizza bit)

why is the vidiya meant to be kept gupt thou??

from my understanding it is because your just not meant to tell people you learn the vidiya, maybe 'gurbar akaal' could give a basic description why it should e kept gupt but from my understanding it is because people can abuse the vidiya for example I learn it and i may tell someone i learn it and they may pick up a few moves and then they may go around using the vidiya on innocent people ( thats just my view, i dont know if any other guys from shastar vidiya agree with this) so maybe someone like ''satpunga singh '' can explain about why it should be kept gupt.

  10. Wow! Amazing vidiya! Good to see someone bringing something good back from Punjab to us here outside. Wish i could learn the Vidiya, i bet anyone who goes to that class could beat up 4 or 5 guys easily. They would have no problem defending themselves! Really good to see positive things about Sikhs on the news! Keep up the good work!

actually in shastar vidiya you learn to fight jathas, and it is very very very possible for some students fighting multiples as we learn how to fight up to a whole jatha of soldiers at one time and breaking formations!!!. the unarmed stuff is amazing!

and also thanks Mahakaal for the vidiya :)

  12. That Illustrisimo guy is good, he has the Hath Katti down well and his anticipation and reading of Tartheeb is good also. Shame he never showed much footwork, but thats mainly due to his opponents inability to angle off. As he starts off you can see glimmers of the Mahakaal penthra in how is misaligning the strikes before they even come in. Very good.

Another fantastic martial artist to check out is Dr Hatsumi of the Bujinkan.

indeed! you can see gimmers of the Mahakaal pentra, i like the video good moves.

  13. " During their divine union Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji acquired various sciences, arts and forms of knowledge. Amongst these was Shastarvidiya which he blessed to Baba Budha Ji to preserve until the coming of the sixth Guru." (Jathedar Nihang Baba Labh Singh, Audio recording, December 2008)

    taken from the nihangisngh.org site!

  14. :

But yes, I'm impressed with the way that he moves each time I see a clip of him demonstrating. The way he flows

a quote from sarbloh granth he uses were guru gobind singh said ''flow like water, become pani'' that what it takes to learn the vidiya you have to be able to move and not be rigid!.
