  1. I've NEVER had the pleasure of being around a person who was consistently and always willing to put others before himself.

Amardeep Singha... from helping me (i.e doing) with my VB.NET projects in first year, to teaching me how to do sneaky things (muhaha), has always been more than willing to teach and help others. There is no one like him.

Although it's been a while since i've spoken to him (or pretty much anyone really...school has effectively isolated me from alot of people) for many months, some things are unforgettable. Seriously, no one is more genuine or generous than Amar. Sure, I only know him from S/S and MSN, but he's a loving loving dude, and I can't pinpoint anything negative about this guy.

And he's all grown up!!! Another year, another marriage joke, and another order of chholay pathooray, but other than that, this guy, at the core, will always remain the consistent and compassionate loving brother and friend he has been to so many people.

Happy Birthday Amardeep Singh Ji. I hope happiness is the only thing you experience in all walks of life. Physical, Mental, Emotional, and most importantly Spiritual... May happiness prevail in all domains and dimensions of your life.

Indebted to you, the seva you do, and the work to bring the thousands of souls you've helped join together in sangat. Much Love, Amardeep Singh.

    Happy Birthday. :D

    Happy Birthday Singh Ji

Hope you have had a great year, and hope you have more great years to come!

  3. i agree to a large extent with Papi.

I feel the same way sometimes... anand sahib just punctures me... it's so so so so so amazing for me... sometimes i just feel like not stopping at 5 pauris...

i'm not sure if it's wrong to do the 40, but i would assume not... after all, anand sahib was originally written as 40 pauris... I don't believe there is any reference that one of our Guru Sahibs split anand sahib up after #5 and then said to recite pauri #40... So, it could very well be, that original rehras sahib has 40 pauris.

I THINK.... i'm not positive on this.. ubt i THINK that at amrit sanchars conducted by 3HO gursikhs, they say to do full 40 pauri anand sahib

    i could be wrong.

anyways, all in all, if there is a hesitation, then the easiest thing to do is as papi has suggested.. try to hold off the hunger till you've done a "proper" rehras sahib, and then just recite anand sahib again afterwards.

but i totally feel your "pain"... anand sahib... vaheguru!

  4. every one here i mean every one just look at your arm ... on the upper side of arm there will be a stamp like thing .... the stamp u got when u were a little kid u got injection there and its visible .... it was also tempering with body ... then why took injection .... ????

if tottos are bad i m sorry to say one should get a tankha from 5 peyare every time he takes injection from a doctor ....

Veer, your post jus proves that you didn't read anything past the first sentence of my point.

I claerly and repeatedly said that if there's no practical purpose to an inflicted blemish or mark on the body, then why do it?

then you went and provided a medical analogy, where injections are required for the well being of children...

how do the two even relate? I'm suggesting that people don't get tattoos. You're suggesting that people expose themselves to sickness.

    Really...?

  5. as far as i'm aware, tattoo's have always been discouraged in sikhi... theres no practical use for a tattoo.

it's an alteration of your natural body's state without any practical reasoning behind it.

i think if we're so keen on calling sikhi a way of life... then we should always be asking the question:

"would having a tattoo be PART of sikhi?"

if it's a way of life, then it's pretty straight forward... a religion bans things and prohhibits things... since sikhi is said to be a way of life, in my opinion it should be looked at it from the flip side.. what IS a part of this way of life?

and then decide... do you think a tat IS a part of this way of life?

  6. let's not get personal.

Personally: My prom was very formal. It was a dinner. There was an afterparty. I didn't go. I went to the dinner. I had a blast. I had a great time seein my highschool friends, most of them for the last time. The afterparty was the drugfest, boozefest, sexfest, and i didn't go for the very same reasons that are being provided.

if it's a two-part prom (i.e prom and then the "after"), i would have seen no problem going to have clean fun at the prom. there was no music being played as many people are worried about. there was nothing like that. it was a dinner, a funny lil "awards" ceremony (i.e..most likely to get run over by a parked car, or what not) and stuff like that. Clean.

Others may have different prom styles, where there is only the one optino to go and be in that scenario where you have no other choice BUT to be enveloped in that surrounding. i don't think it takes a genius to realize that THOSE surroundings are not 100% ideal. Can a Sikh get through it? Of course..we're of the strongest character of all human beings, our Father has tried to ensure that in us by giving us all of His gifts. We can sit in that situation, get through it, and come out as strong as ever.... but do you really want to?

I think Simple Singhani's points were so nicely laid out and written. Very little judgementalness, and I found myself agreeing with her concepts, even though at the same time, I don't see anything wrong with going to the prom, ESPECIALLY if it's in the same manner that mine was set out.

But done's done, the guy didn't go. Let's hope it's not a regret for him in later years.

  7. hahaha

actually i ran into a morman friend of mine the other day, and he's looking at gifting for his friends for Xmas.

he's pretty religious, so he was saying that instead of buying them clothes or gift certificates, he's bought them cd's of a gospel rapper.

He said, it fits the genre of music that his friends listen to (rap) ,but it's positive music (cuz it's gospel).

he's hoping they'll respect it and listen to it, and maybe adopt some positive principles from it in life.

so perhaps you could get them Shaheedi Immortality discs if they haven't already got em.

or maybe uhh...i dunno... i was impressed with his thinking, so think outside the box a bit

  8. use the extra days jasy!

don't jus procrastinate another two days, otherwise you'll eb back in the same boat as you were when you posted this tongue.gif haha

anti-semitism is a big thing.. a very big theme... you sohuld get guidance from your teacher... does he/she want you to do a full profile? this is easier, because then you can address many things at a very superficial level.. this is also less interesting cuz you don't get to really LEARN a whole lot.

or do you focus in on one aspect of anti-semitism... perhaps talk ONLY about vandalism of businesses, properties, and the murder of semetic people...

perhaps a old school look.. anti semitism in america between 1901 and 1930 (incorporating the rise of American economy over the Roaring 20's as a good look at how jews were looked at as mooching off the american dream)

Or maybe anti-semitism in america during WW2?

Theres alot of information, and i assume it's 4 pages double-spaced, which is really not a whole lot at all... just don't waste time on it, cuz you can totally learna LOT from this kind of subject. Our people have gone through discrimination through the ages in North America.

This is a good project for you to learn about what others have gone through, make some relations, and make some inferences.

Heck, you might even find an occasion to make a relationship between Sikh struggles in north america, even though we're clearly not semitic.

    hope that helps...

  9. Don't Worry Guys...

It's easy to hate on others.

we forget that we're probably hated ourselves by other people. We forget perspective.

It's all good. I don't know the brother, but I was inspired by his interview. And while anyone CAN inspire, I PERSONALLY felt that his interview was a case of

"Jiss No Lagga Rang, Say Rang Ratiya"

those who are coloured with the love of God, that colour radiates to everyone.

That was possibly the best interview since Mehtab Singh's interview.

  10. But why does this happen Baba Ji? It causes soo much suffering! Is this really a perfect World to live upon?

nothing is perfect. only waheguru is perfect.

and just an extension, which actually probably means the same thing..

waheguru is perfect..therefore everything is perfect.

who said tornados aren't perfect? Aren't they (by definition) awesome? you think that the entire blend of absolutely circumstantial events can happen with any imperfection? For a tornado or earthquake to sprout up, it takse a lot of perfect events to take place so that the tornado can actually be what it is.

Suffering is PERFECT. in suffering we remember God. in pain we remember God. Suffering is more perfection than happiness, because most of our world's happiness comes from materialness, only those "Virlay Jann" have happiness from being in relationship with God.

and yes, even human creation is perfect. Surely we must believe that, because when we hear someone ask "prove that god exists", we say, "look in the mirror, look at your existence, only God could make all those fators line up in a row so that you can be alive".... our actinos may be less than perfect, but our existence is nothing short of perfection.

Parminder Singh Ji's katha on pain is really relevant... many of the ontario and b.c kids have seen it, and it talks about how sometimse people come to "expect" happiness beacuse they do their paath, they do their baani.

and Parminder Singh said that EVERY single person on this Earth is in pain.

    Physical Pain

    Mental Pain

    Spiritual Pain

every single being in this world comes under at least one of those categories.

and in my opinion, even that is perfect. Karma is perfect, it flawlessly takes into account all your good and bad and accordingly, things happen to you in this life. the pains you must overcome in this life are all a result of an absolutely PERFECT tabulation of your deeds and misdeeds.

all that to say, nothing about the world's existence is imperfect, save for the actions of the human being. But even then, the existence of the human being is perfection in its own form.

  11. I agree with Malaysia. Usually I don't like to use that word to because I THINK it just sends a message to peopple that "oh, I am trying to act all chardi kalaa" and stuff. But to answer your question, which has been answered already. It means SERVANT/SLAVE.

    In Rehraas Sahib it says:

    GOBIND DAAS DUAR.

Guru Gobind Singh is the slave of Akal Purakh.

    just thought i'd correct:

    Gobind Daas Tuhaar
