This makes you endulge in maya (worldly goods), But watching Hindi films is worse as it just takes the fun out of Sikh's. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Je ki Fateh My understanding of listening and reading bani is that when listening to the bani, the laaha (the reward that you recieve) that you get from this is not as much as if you did it yourself, becuase by reading your mind is concentrating on the bani and making sure you are awake, over the years i have listened to bani instead of reading, and I understand why the bani was written in gurmukhi using different languages. As it allows for gursikhs to understand the reason as to why gurbani was meant to be read, using the heart. But i am not saying that bani should not me listened to; But if you cannot read gurmukhi then bani can be listened to, to help you understand and learn bani.
