  1. its beadbi to have the rumala not covering Guru Granth Sahib if you arent doing paat. It is beadbi to open the rumala and not take hukam from Guru Sahib. In the video they have the rumala off and doing nonsence. Bhai Buddah Ji was known to the Guru Sahiban. the stooge in the video is not appointed to be the one who gives tilak. whether or not babaJi gave 1-5 Gurus tilak doesnt mean its ok for a stooge to give tilak to Shabad guru. Its plain and simple beadbi to give tilak to Guru Granth Sahib.

They are one out of many trying to gang up and do beadbi to try to stir up trouble with Sikhs, and then call us terrorist for standing up against beadbi.

  2. Kewl thread and as Im starting out learning kirtan I will start at what is real and grow from that. (Im not going to bury a potato and expect a sweet mango tree to grow :) )

All the information is useful (even the incorrect) because it better shapes the current status of kirtan from some people that do kirtan in any tune they want just to sing Gurbani etc.

I want to get a dilruba and learn from that basis of Gurmat Sangeet.

    ChardhiKala :D

    Vaheguru :)

  3. yer not able to just go out and ask Panj Pyare etc.... Panj Pyare arent just anywhere at anytime you have a question. Just as a matter of fact... from the second you read this post how long will it be untill you see Panj Pyare???(how many days will it be untill you can ask the panj pyare?)

It depends on what meds you are taking if its ok, if it is something that you can sub out to another med then switch to a non geletin but if its a rare med for a certain ailment then its ok.

geletin is for the outer coating of the med (I think just to make it slippery to swallow etc)

  4. Dont ask people to teach you, go learn. I learned from doing SukhAsan seva everyday for like a year. I actually have fun doing Prakash and SukhAsan (cant explain it) If you go to the ceremony everyday it just becomes part of you nitnaym. I encourage any Bibis to become a Granthi. (Im teaching my wife who to read Gurmukhi and she is doing very well) Dont let the "male dominated" people make ou feel women cant be a female Granthi or doing any sort of seva that they can do. Women and men are equal in everyway. If they say women cant do this or that then they are not following Guru Sahibs words correctly. Guru Sahiban put women incharge but over the years people have become foolish and think only men can do certain sevas.

you can have your keski tied like a rumalla(doing simran) while your hair dries but then tie turban while doing Guru seva

  5. I had a radhosuami baba come to my house on monday and after testing me to the max was very impressed with my level of Sikhi and from personally getting there without any sant etc (he tried to tell me I have to have a living teacher in order to understand God) I said I do have a living Guru and he came over to my house and matha teked to Guru Granth Sahib (The Gurdwara allowed me to be blessed to have SatGuru Granth Sahib at my house for two weeks) His jatha tried to ask me 70000 questions to try to munipulate radhosuami ideals on me and after realising they cant teach me anything I didnt know already and that I learn from Guru Sahib as my living Guru Maharaj not some guy from India. I gave them some Sikhi books which he was reading for an hour and then referred to them in his katha at there satsang that I attended ( to tell you the truth I didnt learn anything I didnt already know) (he teaches them not to need to Amrit chauk and "just live a practical life" he then tried to get them to make sure not to follow my way of SIkhi (strict) hahaha

So there is no need for a "sant" other than Guru Sahib, you can learn stuff here and there from random GurSikhs but it is not compulsary as they can only tell you to beg Guru Sahib everyday for the Gyian we all dream of having. It is attainable from Guru Sahibs blessings not from the "sant". Serve the Sants and the Sadh Sangat is a room full of Sants. The person who lives a strict Sikh life is the sant your looking for (not anyone that visits the Gurdwara but the real GurSikhs that follow Sikhi inside their mind and out)

    Dhan Dhan GurSikhi Jeevan Sahib

  6. will be useful if you prepared a few simple tutorials on specific electronic music programs so some youths on here can learn to record ,mix, incorporate bkground sounds and master themselves the simran, gurbani n nitnem etc they do n post it on here .

To tell ya the truth money is the only real way to say what to get and how to do it, also expereince with recording. Ive gone thru many studios and eachone has its benefit and downfalls. Some studio focus on recording and then want you to find a studio for mastering etc. Depends on how much one can spend and how much time they spend on the particular equipment they bought as to what to buy and use. If someone wants to spend money going to a studio I would say that mostly the best bet because the studio has the engineer and the equipment and as long as you got your stuff together then it might be the best economical situation for someone how has no equipment or skills to use recording equipment. If someone buys the top of the line recordingt equipment but cant use it isnt a good idea. I have 2 old friends that are going to college for protools and one that does professional apprientice recording in L.A, but they spent lots of money to figureout how to record while I have been tinkering with many musical genres and studios for over ten years, anyone that knows me gives me that respect that I know my music (Im learning Sikh Kirtan still) but those that hate on me for being a Sikh still understand that I have great skill with learning music and have a huge background of musical ability. I learn by ear and have a natural talent of playing music (all my family knows this) If I like a song or something etc I can play it very quick, If I like an instrument I can teach myself how to play it and quick.

As for studio/Protools recording I was taught by the Drum Technician of the Deftones (a world reknown heavy metal/rock Band from Sacramento. He used to let me bring any band I had at the time and record thousands of dollars worth of recording for like $600 and say "I like your music so dont pay me the rest" this actually saved my rear because I was paying lots of money touring around California with like 6 different bands almost at once, and I needed all the money I could get. Everytime I went to his studio he was actually showing my music to someone and was suprized I showed up without calling ^o^My dad became manager and got me lots of top notch shows, where I played a show in front of 5000 people and stole the show away from the headliners, Ive actually stole the show on many occasions from the headliners and used to have a line of like 50 people wanting autographs for a few hours at a time and they didnt want the rest of the bands to sign their cd (and the bands would get all mad at me)(and Im just some chump to be signing autographs but hey to be polite I made them think I was some 'big musician" etc and it made their day) A few years ago I could go places and have people say "hey I saw you play once at %$^&*"(and all I could say is "kewl") I would go from band to band and would quit because they had huge egos and would chase around girls (and I had no need for ego or girls, and I played for the thrill of it and for fun) I have been in magazines from Texas to Japan and had a prominent record label going to shows but didnt sign us cause the band was too quickly put together (as I could put a band together in five mins with people not very good at playing and still make it sound awesome like if we been together for years etc) To make this long story a tad bit shorter.... It takes money to make music now daze, if you buy lots of equipment then you mostly have to sell your music to be able to justify a home equity closeout worth of equipment. I have been having such a hard time for the last couple of years that I have been selling equipment left and right to keep from drowning in debt. At one time I had 7 really nice guitars around $1000 a piece and have to sell them for a fraction of the price for cash to pay bills. I used to give my brother my leftover stuff that I didnt want to just sell for dirt cheap and he has a lot of equipment now too(he is not a Sikh) Ive been thinking of starting a guitar class in my area for giving lessons but who will want a Sikh with a big-ole turban to teach their kids how to play guitar ^o^ I have though recorded some keertan from Rainsabhais and have no want for compensation for uploading on the net, blah blah yada yada I could go on for ever about music subjects etc..............

Basically if you want to email me about how much you want to spend on recording equipment and your level of knowledge with recording equipment then pm me and I can help you out, this isnt an easy thing to do as you will have to sacrifice a lot of time and effort to get your system functioning to your particular sound quality. Ive played in many genres of music and know the differences in quality, and tell you the truth I am thinking of hiring some vocalists to sing songs I write because Im not as good as I want my music(other than kirtan) to sound like etc I am a instrumentalist/producer and am capable of producing really good quality live sound Im just now trying to capture it in recording specifically.

I could say "buy this recording box" but if you arent even at that level then its better to go to a studio but then if you spend money recording in a studio it hurts to give it away for free because its like you build a house and someone can download all your works effort for free etc (thats why I respect the music industry because they know how to get the sound paid for at minimum cost of the producer and paying the musicians a reasonable salary)

Let me know if anyone wants to start recording their particular sound, and have a drive to want to learn what it takes to produce and engineer from a personal studio.

  7. If you tie a patka then yes it will slip off while sleeping.. Tie a nice comfy house turban(ears out) and it should be fine . My wife started tying patka for sleeping but she subconsciously always grabs her hair when she moves I noticed now when she rolls over or gets up ^o^ unless you can tie it tight enough or have a habit of grabing your patka in your sleep then tie a house turban to combat the slipping turban etc.

I used to listen to a loop of Vahe-Guru and now I listen to my new 40min SImran looped and I really like it (not tooting my own horn but it does sound kewl) I think its better to listen to Naam SImran for some reason over listening to paath, something tells me its easier to absorb the sound of Vaheguru during sleep than shabads etc (just my opinion).

I highly recommend listening to anything during sleep on the lines of Shabads or Naam Simran etc for anyone....

As for the ratio stuff.... Where is it written that all these ratios are beneficial ???? Some people come up with these kewl sounding ratios stuff but I doubt it is anything other than Manmat. Someone thinks of kewl soundiong stuff and spreads it around. I know Naam Simran in each breath is beneficial but these if you stand on your head and rub your belly while snapping your fingers and drinking water equals 4 hours of sitting in a chair etc hahahaha ^o^ makes no sense in my opinion. If it is written in Gurbani or sometype of Bhai Gurdas vaaran then hook this foolish Sikh up with the direction of where this stuff came from.

  8. Sukhdev Singh Ji is always a great man. Regardless of what people say about him, but the core of what he says is sensible. Anyway, what bad thing can we say about him?

Touching girls chests isnt good, is it?????

Trying to rename Guru Granth Sahib to Guru Jyot Sahib is good????? and saying Guru Gobind Singh Ji would say "yeah your right sukhdev go and change the Naam" isnt blasphemous????

Im sure some people can say alot bad about him, being clever and talking sweet but doing antiGurmat isnt a good thing, but hey, people will back a criminal if its their friend, just as a lawyer can make a murderer not look like they did it.

sukhdev has been banned from a Gurdwara in malaysia so he cant do his antiGurmat straightup manmat parchaar.

  9. two reasons why Im posting right now:

    1) People are reading what we are saying and maybe will light there candle from the conversation we both are saying.

    2) Im having a program on August 22nd at Bradshaw Gurdwara California, and I purposely am targetting the kids that dont know Sikhi, that dont even know about Amritvela etc. I told the president everyone is welcome but I want the kids that really need this program to come, I know all the GurSikh kids know an abundance of Sikhi but I want the struggling kids to come and learn what they are missing out on. They learn what needs to be learned no more no less, the rest they can seek to find etc.

Good there is no more points (in my opinion that needs to be further stressed as both our posts surely cover a broad spectrum of this issue etc)

  10. Veerjee that doesnt mean Gurujee went around hating this 2 persons

Not one of us said GuruJi "hated" anyone, but excommunicated them, and that was to his very own son.

Gurujee is always loving and if these people had truly repented ,begged forgiveness and realised their folly they would have been forgiven.

That is "IF" veerji "IF". but do people that overlook Amritvela do they "truly" know how to prove to Guru Sahib that they beg for forgiveness or do they do a short quick prayer and continue the nonsense ?????? We can go around trying to beg people to actually follow Gurmat but only if God wills them to do it will it manifest. We can tell campfire stories and do parchar all day and night but if someone is ignorant then thats what they are. We have hundreds of thousands of true Sikhs that have been killed due to the fact that they loved Guru Sahib and loved the rehat but now a daze people dont understand Ardas and the kurbani that Sikhs went thru to allow us to know Sikhi and then we have people that could care less, as long as theyre able to do there manmat Sikhi they could care less about being rehatvaan etc.........

Yes for some it takes time but some people are way past due and have become rotten inside and out, can we help them????(not by candy-coating Sikhi for them) How long does it take for a normal maya filled person to become a SIkh??? (ask my wife and she will tell you it can be in the bat of an eyelid) She went from manmat moorukhi to Amritdhari GurSikh and even holds me to the point, anyone that knows me knows how quick it took me to become a "listener of what Guru actually prescribes us to do" we dont need this waiting list and then postpone that when the time comes" we start now today and forever, no holding back, no letting go, only having the responibility to be truthful and follow the rehat given to us by the Gurus who we revere. Too many in the community try to make manmat the "norm" and then youth follow their manmat also, we need to get off the "well they dont" bandwagon and actually wake up and be a Sikh. Too many think "Ill do that stuff later" "Ill grow old and after forming more than half my life full of bad habits Ill change then" etc and that where they are wrong, being a Sikh while young is the best way to instill Sikhi within them and playing the "well Ill do it later/ overtime Ill be a Sikh" card. Im the guy that pours a bucket of water over someones head after they say they will get up in the morning and when the time comes they get the bucket poured on them, others just tell them its ok just take forever to develop a want to finally listen to GuruJi. Dont listen to me, listen to Guru Sahib.

Lots in history have been Gurus rivala enemy(Guru didnt have enemies but they were Guru Sahibs enemy) and after seeing Guru Sahib they bowed at his feet. Lets say Jahangir and hunting with Guru Hragobind Sahib, he actually killed Guru Sahibs dad and after Guru Sahib showed him that I dont have enemies as being Nirbhau/Nirvair he never again went against Guru Saib and this was from a nonSikh completely. So people that claim to be Sikh should have no excuses of why they "cant get up for Amritvela"

  11. I remember I bought some random dhoop once just to try out that style of incense and I bought some lakshmi dhoop and it smells so disgustingly gross! It smells like burnt rubber mixed with nasty smelling something (I cant really discribe it other than saying eeeewwwww like a school girl shouting coodies) Dont ever ever buy lakshmi dhoop Im telling you "it could change your life" hahahah My favorite stick incense is chandan, musk or nag champa.

I thought lighting a jyot was for if the power went out you still can read during an Akhand Paat etc and before they had electricity everyone and their moms had to use candles etc Or................... the jyot related to GuruJis jyot like in a Sach Khand room for Sukhasan always has a light on etc?????

  12. If everything is forgiven then why was Guru HarRai Sahhibs son banned from the panth, same thing with Guru Arjan Dev Jis brother.

I second that and am waitiing for the reply

As the hippys used to say in the 60's "Legalize Love man" hahaha Sometimes people go "too far" and are swept away by their manmat.

  13. S1ngh Ji Im just now starting to record such albums related to keertan, all my other music is way different from Reggae to rock and anything in between, I even have some acoustic guitar kickback sounding stuff but I mostly dont have them published as of yet. Im trying to gather better equipment so I can have a perfect quality sound without fluxuations even if it is different genres etc.

Im doing lots and lots of editing on the 40min simran still and I screwed myself up by already writing a new song, some in a different genre and spent a few hours yesterday compressing all the tracks and then I still have to go back and re-record the verses of the new song (which I shouldnt have started but to keep myself fresh and not bored from all the hours of editing I write new songs  ) ((right now I have like 5-6 songs half to 3/4 done and have like a month of editing and then polishing up))

I would like to hire a guy to do all the crazy technical stuff that is very time consuming but they dont take my currency at the moment (a handful of corn  )

  14. I dont look down on anyone. Sometimes true blunt words is how some get the picture because intellect doesnt hold too much space when Gurbani states everything in BOLD. Lots try to downgrade their Sikhi by saying they dont have to do Amritvela etc. We can all sound nice and say do what you feel at the level you are but sometimes people use that as an excuse (is all Im trying to say) I was just reading a shabad about the king of Lanka yesterday (sorry to go slightly off topic with this but to me its sorta ironic)

I am doing a youth workshop at Bradshaw Gurdwara Sacramento,California on August 22nd 2009, as this is the better ways of actually teaching the youth about these aspects in GuruJis presence etc. I am a part of United Sikhs and the workshop is a United Sikhs program as to date we have had 5 or so from Bakersfield up to now Sac.

I will make a thread about this later on today with the flyer.

  15. Thats a good question.

Teach them Sikhi, dont allow them to be little spoiled brats etc. Do paath with them in the room (at least) Teach them the sacrifices of Sikhs to show them how strong you must be as a Sikh. Dont let them do things that "normal society" finds ok that is very much not ok in Sikhi etc. lots more others can add

  16. Basically Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj states "If you call yourself a SIkh then you must wake at Amritvela and chant Naam", so from what I said earlier all the people who claim to be a Sikh but do not listen to anything GuruJi is saying can only "claim" to be Sikhs. Plain and simple are the dictates of Guru Sahib but the weak minded people think it is either too hard or not understandable in this simple fashion. Seeking the knowledge is how to become a SIkh, when someone becomes mentally lazy they lose alot of strength they aquired. Being strong is a metaphor for saying the ones that "try" to be Sikh. Many claim to be Sikh, when they cut their hair or drink alcohol etc etc etc but outer appearance is needed in these times as stated by Guru Gobind Singh Sahib to keep hair tie Turban (men and women) and who can do this? (the people who try to be Sikhs as worded by Guru Gobind Singh Ji) God is in all but GuruJi himself said you must keep the outer appearance of a SIkh as well as follow rehat which gives the inner appearance of a SIkh, trying anyother way is false. Checkout the rehatnamas of who is considered as Sikh in Guru Gobind Singhs eyes, he loves all but doesnt love the SIkh, he loves the rehat they keep.

  17. I recorded the new extended version for 40mins and I am going to make and print the actual cd, and put that as an album. Im going to have track one the Simran and track two the instrumental. It is a big file to upload so Im going to have it on mp3 cd as well as wav file, and Im going to set up my website hopefully to be able to put an order form on with a small donation link so I can further building my equipment for recording purposes.

I want to make a Paat cd with random shabads in Gurmukhi and after recited in english so people can remember the certain shabads I pick out and know its meanings etc.

I got lots of ideas but I need more disk space and other stuff etc to make this happen. I record any vocal audio straight and do not loop, so my 40 mins of Naam Simran was actually 40 mins not a 3 min track looped.

Again I am not going to upload the 40 min version but have the short version uploaded for a few more weeks until I have the completely finished cd printed, copyrighted and published. Ill keep everyone updated with its progress.

    Vaheguru

  18. When too much focus is put on the mouth then the mind loses its focus. Speaking from the heart is what Vaheguru wants, not intellect. I know what you are saying, but we learn as we go, we cant be professors if we just enrolled in the course. Ive been writing all sorts of music for over 10 years using professional studios and now I have a home studio. I have vaja and other instruments. Ive been using protools and similar for years in the studio and Im now using it personally. open source was the word I was looking for that you pointed out Ji. With the "monotonous" recitation is kinda an understatement I can lead you to many of recordings that do simran very similar to how I do it. (I can do a really kewl buddhist sounding simran also using toovian throat singing/like a digereedoo for the vocals) with the bird thing, Ive done rain in a Jaap Sahib track I did once - meaning that God pours down blessings on us, its a Bhujang Prayaat Chand Shabad and some people didnt like the rain as it took away from the Chant of the shabad (chatr..........) With recording its like writing a library of books, and we learn from each book therin. I do understand everyones advice but I cant make the whole world happy as their are always critics in every aspect, the thing is to do my best at the time and help people that listen to it understand their faults or shortcomings.

My goal is to always record music and hopefully start getting some more sponsers etc, Im am a part of Hittmusicgroup and am going to be soon releasing an album with their support.

    Vaheguru Vaheguru Vaheguru Vaheguru Vaheguru

(*****************REASON FOR EDIT**************)I was thinking about the Jaap sahib Track I did once and realised I accidently put Bhujang Tav Prasad and it is Bhujang Prayaat Chand and ran to the computer and changed it on here) (oopps big ooopps but hey I changed it once I found out I put the wrong charan etc) (ChardiKala !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  19. Long story short: if you wake at AMritvela, chant naam and read/recite panj bania then you love and trust GuruSahib. If you dont then you think you are smarter than the master. Waking at amritvela is the only offering you can make that matters. Chanting Naam at Amritvela is like climbing the highest mountain, while not waking at Amritvela is like burying yourself at the deepest place in the ocean of existence. Making the effort makes you strong, while being lazy makes the mind very very lazy. Only those who God blesses to wake at AMritvela will, while the rest of the people either wish they can, or forfiet completely. Giving flowers or food is no offering to God only waking at AMritvela and remembering God(Simran) is the only fit offering, after that you must do your daily exercise of Bania(Nitnaym) to control the mind from running away from its very core. Control your mind and youve won the battle, its like in war , you can be "spiritually" one versus 1 million and the very last surviving living enemy can kill you and you lose, you must battle all five of the vices(panj doots) not leaving one enemy running around in your mind or it is enough to cut off your head after you just battled the entire opposing army except that last one enemy.

Amritvela is only for the strong, the weak best not apply for this, as they will waste this time and with no effort, fail.

If you call yourself a Sikh and being ok for being very weak is very sad to say. A Sikh is strong. Weak minded people claiming to be Sikhs is like a goat claiming to be a lion.
