  1. 'Hoe Sikh Sir Topi Dhare, Saat Janam Kushti Hoe Mare'

OMG .. thats like the third time someone has told me those Bani lines , <_< , I don't question it , but it does no good for me. All I know through this is If I wear a cap , I will be reborn 7 times as a Leper... :6 ... What about zillion of times I always wear my dastaar? and all those times I try to instill SIkhi values in my brothers and sisters? ... ..Its very lame to say in SIkhi that If you do this , you will become that in your next birth , unless and until properly put forward. Without proper explaination from the mouth of a learnt person , this tuk is just words. So does that mean because in this birth I played golf and wore a cap for a couple of months , I will be reborn 7 times as a leper , very Hindu-ish ha? :6

    :gg:

I would still like some help from the Sangat , and mskscan thnx for your valuable post , never knew about the visor thing , but this visor is still very cap-ish! , I mean if you wear a Visor , your dastaar will be visible , and in my case , i wear a patka and sometimes a very small 'parna' with a cap (which is like a visor but covered on top) ... I mean still whatever you said is what I do , just that in your case it makes the head covering visible and in my case my parna is also visible but on sides and not on top . Is it all about showing your dastaar? :gg: .. srry but bear with me , engineer minds question a lot..bhul chuk maaf jee..

  2. I was just wondering about this thing. I am a Sikh (non-AmritDhari) with uncut hair and wear a turban everytime.I am going to be an engineering graduate in a year. But I am like very much into sports ,I have been a state Cricket Player ,and recently I have been playing Golf , and during long Sunday mornings in Greens , Sun really beats the hell out of me , if I don't wear a cap , So I generally , wear a patka and a cap on top of it , and even when fielding in Cricket for long time , I do wear a cap. So is this wrong? , I know wearing of anything else but Dastaar is not permitted in Sikhism . But what about SIKH sahibaans who do other stuff than Bhakti? which is definitely not wrong, I mean Sikhism is also about leading a good life along with Naam-Simran , but what if the situation requires you to?

If my concepts are clear about Sikhi , it prohibits permanent wearing of caps and hats in place of turban , to cover your hair , but once and a while , you can wear a cap , only if the situation stricty demands it.

Please Correct me if I am wrong somewhere. And view this thing the point of view of a non-Amritdhari .

    Bahut Bahut Mehrbaani .

  3. I agree with xxx , Majority mentality of people in India (non-Sikhs) is that of like SA6 , not offending you , but even when I tell my friends about what happened to Sikhs in 84' , all they say is remain within India and fight for your rights , but to tell you the reality , we Sikhs are already done with that , fighting for rights is a previous thing , When our very own Govt. didn't apologise to us even after 24 years about what happened in 84' and even after a genocide of 20,000 sikhs post-Indira Gandhi , not a single man was jailed , how can we sit quiet under the rule of the same Govt?

Remember that a Sikh can watch his home burn , bit not his Gurudwara .

To put this discussion on right track , I think it would be better if we don't link our struggle with that of the Marathas . <_<

  4. wear a dual 'fifti' as they say in punjabi , or rather a bandana sort of 'patka' with one more 'patka' inside it holding the 'jooda' , I do that all the time , The second patka does the job of just strengthening the hold of your two patkas on your head , and second patka is more of a bandana , while first one is like the one chotte singhs wear ! , now when you tie turban over it knot by knot , make your turban clean and fitting , and try a smaller turban , if you already wear a smaller one , fine , otherwise try a smaller one this time just for the sake of rollercoaster fun! , I bet with all this the turban won't even fall if you ran a marathon full of jumps.

    Waheguru!

  5. Guys, if you don't mind me butting in.

Even if you haven't got justice for the 1984 riots, how will creating a separate Khalistan deliver that justice?

Why give up your own country? Why not be Indians and demand justice as Indians?

We have fought the Afghans, the Iranians, the Arabs, the Central Asians and in the end we realized that unity is strength. If we continue to fight among ourselves, then outsiders will always be ready to take advantage of us.

I am a Maratha, and even my community has sacrificed its blood for the unity and independence of India.

    1. Creating Khalistan won't help us deliver that justice , agreed, but the move will ensure nothing ever like the 84' happens to Sikhs again.

    2. Why not demand justice as Indians? , Infact thats what we have been doing ever since the Indian Constitution was written , We fought for the freedom as Indians , We gave Shaheedis as Indians , Our Gurus died for other religions , We have done almost everything that no other race has ever done , but when our very own country becomes inconsiderate of our feelings , ever since its Independence , We will fight for our own space.

The question is not about whether we are fighting as Indians or Punjabis or Sikhs , the question is about being potrayed right . Ever wondered why Sikhs are always potrayed as Funny SardarJi's or Taxi Drivers in 90% of bollywood flicks ? , Ever wondered why the RSS and Bajrang Dal , always tries to dilute the Sikh Image? Ever wondered why a Group of Sikhs protesting against a fake Baba are attacked upon by the country's very own police? Perhaps they have no Idea that the Baba is not good for any religion , not only Sikhism , he has followers from all faiths , and He is nothing but a politically motivated propaganda, who abuses 'Daasis' in his own court , He has a CBI case against him , and on top of that he has Crores of followers all brain-washed! , Why then in the whole of country , only Sikhs protest against him , because thats what they have been doing ever since their formation , fighting against the False. But the country like India which is already full of money hungry Fake Pandits , nonsense rituals and religion-driven politics, poverty-stricken groups , why would they care if another Baba comes and takes them over?? If they don't , we surely do.

And its good that you are a Maratha , you should understand the matter better , our and your people fought side by side against the Tyranny , even for Independence Struggle , or against the Mughals. Its just that we became an Order , a Brotherhood , that will keep fighting till the end of time, while majority of Indian groups will or have faded away.

  6. "The game start after the director had finished fixing the three white badges in the back of the three inmates (who have all three accepted to play the game)"

I will always have a white badge.

P.S the director never used the black ones? huh.. :o

  7. One time Baba Hari Singh Randhawa mentioned that Gurmeet Baba was set up by the government to check on the pulse of Punjab, basically they wanted to see how many Sikhs were left in Punjab.

So now that they know Punjab still has a number of sikhs left, my concern is that the sikhs may be minipulated to become militant. Militancy for sikhs in punjab today would be losing proposition given the very few numbers that they have compared to post 1984 and the far increased might of the indian army.

What have Sikh sahibaan done that the Govt. wants to check them and finish them off , I find it absolutely rubbish . Its like all these years right from Independence , only motive of the Govt. is to finish the Sikhs! is it? , If the Govt. wants to finish , it should finish the differences with the Sikhs so that We can help with their country. :gg:

  8. I know God will never abandon me but i just wonder why does he sometimes make me go through certain things...............

Because He has faith in his Sikh and He is searching for his jewels on this earth.

If diamonds could complain , they had complain to God that even though they are so valuable , why are they kept in the form of black carbon stones at first?

  9. I feel sooo alone at the moment and am constantly thinking negatively i am trying to get out this by exercising/eating etc its helping but not alot. I feel alone because my social life has become non existent because all my friends drink etc but i dont like to go to those places and feel excluded so dont get invited out alot. im in my mid twenties and long for companionship too but soo far no woman has ever shown a interest in me and that has had a negative impact on me. Im not immature and understand that by marriage time i might end up marrying a girl who has been in one or two relationship (hopefully non sexual) and when i think about that i feel depressed because what if she judges me for my lack of experience and compares me to her ex-boyfriends.......I feel its all going downhill for me at the moment and im lost and im not sure what to do.......please advise and help me.

I am also feelin lonely rite now bro, I told some rubbish to my very good friend , I am such a @$!@$! ! No one can be as uncaring as me , My friend didn't expect it from me , I am such a pathetic loser , I think the world should do shooting practices at me :glare:

P.S we gonna fight it out together! :TH: ..

    Hath Jodo te Kaho :

Ik Om kar Satnam , Sri Waheguru!

  10. I was wondering what is the need of Khalistan? , Well I know the whole background about 1984 and aftermath , and debates about Sikhs being unequally treated at different places etc etc. But its all leading to a very protesting-wing of Sikhism , I see young people wearing Singh Shirts/Hoods , idolizing Bhindrawale , and acting as if they are the warriors . I almost agree everytime I see atrocities on Sikhs anywhere in the world.

'But begging for a land and not winning it' is not something Sikhism does. Now a days Sikhs are becoming very insecure about their own identities and demanding separate rights and land for themselves like we are some oppressed African refugees (#!@). What good will it do for the Gurus ? , Will the land acquirement please the Guru? Our Gurus only told all reality is what we have perceived during our lives. All this demand for land I think has no divinity attached to it , its all very humanish . Any community in the world can start protesting for a land , it does not look good when I see my own Sikhs do it :( . I have always pictured the great martyrs as those who never begged or acted oppressed , they always had that victory within , and they never gave in , they fought for what is theirs.

At times even I have felt the need for a separate land (I hate the term Khalistan...) , but I just went through separate thoughts while in bed last night. And thought of sharing them with the Sangat. Please be open about it, any darn Sikh can start yelling about the need of Khalistan and all the emotions attached but does it serve the purpose of Sikhism , or the purpose for which this great dharma was blessed by our Gurus? I think not.

    Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

    Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

  11. I just wanted to share how I have been feeling past few days..I am a regular Sikh , not an amritdhari , I may look like a normal Sikh walking down the dusty streets of Punjab (and other places,I travel a lot) .. But things have been troubling me . I am not a regular at doing bani or visiting Gurudwara but I read a hell lot about SIkhi on the net , and have that inner great feeling of being a Sikh , with Singh as my last name (P.S I deny belonging to a caste which my parents even tell me to , but I don't put it at the end of my name , because I believe Singh is enough as my last name..) ..I mean is it fine?? ...Though majority of my family blood members , use a caste after their 'Singh' or 'Kaur' at then end , I havent been doing this , since like I was in School..I always end my name with Singh . I find it a Joke , being a follower of Sikhi and still using something after 'Singh' ...I mean what I am doing is fine ryt? ...since my mum-dad asked me why I wasnt putting it , I told them..I guess I did ryt?

Secondly , one of my friends went to germany for his interns , and had cut his hair before leaving India , one of my cousins had also cut hair , and I find like 80% of punjabi rural yough cutting their hair ...its weird ! ..I find utterly displeased but I can't do anything...I don't wanna end up being an extremist , I hate that , infact I hate extremists of all religions...but I want to do something about so many things...like I described in previous and this para...I feel I have a good understanding of my religion , and want to do something about it ..I just cant see our own sikh kingdom (punjab) falling prey to something rubbish , I hate it when my Sikh friends idoliZe someone like JazzyB OR some bollywood guy , its all rubbish I feel , but how can I MAKE MY VOICE HEARD , its so frustating , moreover I am an engineer student at a top notch tech school in india ... i will probably go out to US for my MS , but am afraid that those people wont probably understand my religion , and make problems for me..I MEAN so much is goin around in my mind about my religion , and all I can do is write it here for u ppl ..!! ..

    P.S i luv luv luv Sikhi !

    Rab Rakha!

  12. buddasingh put yourself in a closet and never come out of it again...ever. Forget me being a sandhu jatt, u must be one of those bhappe's lol. I remember when bhappe used to run the gurudwara in richmond, they were ignorant people lol.....then we jatts had to take over the gurudwara and start the concept of real sikhi. so buddasingh i know u are ashamed to be a bhappa but its alright u will have to die with it and over all live wth it. not one bhappa fought in the movement? bhappe's are cowards by just looking at them...
i'm sorry if i am harsh but i have to say this.

You are NOT a sikh if you are a jatt, that is not possible, there is no such thing as caste in sikhism, no one cares about caste because everybody is equal, it's stupid and pathetic and 100% wrong and against sikhi.

I am a JATT and a Sikh....caste has nothing to do with sikhism but my family had the name SANDHU even before khalsa came into existence. Its our background and I am proud of it and we will never forget who we are and were....Sandhu's are the bravest and one of the oldest jatts among other kind of jatts. Also ur comment is 100% wrong and pathetic if you think people who are proud of their background(caste) are going against Sikhi. why dont you learn about caste before you make remarks like such?

Given that Guru Gobind Singh Ji was not a "brave sandhu" and not even a "brave jatt", where exactly does your reverence for his bravery lie in the mix? Put away the "i am jatt" puffy chest routine and learn to walk first.

To the original poster...there's some excellent advice here, including the advice above that your difficulty has more to do punjabi culture. Other forums may give you a different necessary perspective. Have strength and all will turn out well.

This guy is an absolute shame. :6
