  1. After chakking amrit 2 years ago, I stopped celebrating my Birthday. I really dont feel I have done anything great getting born on this earth, lol so what to celebrate for ? Anyways my mum wants to do a bit of celebration tomorrow? Shud I do a bit of candle and cake thing ?? I will be 13 years old tomorrow, lol
  2. No need to worry. Before the formation of Khalsa Raaj in Punjab, lots of destruction will happen and all this crap around Sri Harmandir Sahib will be blown away. Its pretty near, we will see it in our lifetimes if we survive the next few years. Whole of Sri Amritsar Sahib will be like one 1 Big Gurdwara, 1 big spiritual Village, it will be like Sachkhand.

  4. The Toxic Consequences of the Green Revolution In India, farmers find that benefits of pesticides and herbicides may come at a tragically high cost http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/world/...revolution.html
  5. nishkam does incredible work with the "forgotten" sikhs (so-called low caste sikhs), as well as with '84 widows. i'm a great fan of theirs. www.nishkam.org i'm also a huge fan (and volunteer/member) of united sikhs, who are currently doing incredible work with flood victims in punjab and the southeast US. they've done a lot of incredible disaster relief work. they provide legal assistance to sikhs for discrimination cases (turban, kirpan, anything). they teach english in poor villiages. they have a HUGE right to turban campaign going in france. basically they're incredibly diverse and operate with nonprofit status in every country with a large sikh population. right now they desperately need money and supplies for current flood relief projects in punjab. www.unitedsikhs.org also remember that your dasvandh doesn't have to go to Sikhs only, it can go to anyone in need. it doesn't have to be in the form of cash, it can be in time as well. working at your local homeless shelter or food bank is a great way to share Guru ji's institution of langar with the general public. anyway, just some suggestions. shastars distribution sounds good too. :gatka-singhni: Dear Sister jeeo, thanks a lot for such valuable information. United Sikhs is truly doing some very good seva. U must be knowing Mr. Hardyal Singh Jee, he is a very charrdikala and humble sikh and knows my father very well. God bless him! I have great love for shastars and wish every sikh shud have zabardast sarblohi sri sahib. I wish to do the seva of doing bhetta of such zabardast sri sahibs to fellow sikhs.
  6. I have heard some nice things about this jatha. Need some info about this jathaa. Do they encourage bibis to wear dastaar and do they parkash Lareevar Saroop of Sri Guru Granth SAhib Jee Maharaaj? Do they promote dietary bibek ??
  7. There is so much corruption is Gurdwara committes, I just dont feel like giving my daswandh there. I want to give my daswandh at a place where it can actually benefit a fellow sikh brother. Any advice ? Maybe I can get made some excellent shastars made in India(from ratowal or nihung baldev singh jee) and bhetaa it to the NRI veers who are unable to come to India frequently.
  8. how can you know the difference. do they wear signs? i mean, when you walk into a gurdwara langar hall, do you go inspect the kitchen and interrogate the sevadars before eating? sorry, i just wonder how one is supposed to keep such strict dietary habits and still partake of Guru ji's langar with the sadh sangat. It is the duty of the parbandhaks of Guru Ghar to make sure that Guru ka Langar is prepared with proper maryada and suchamtayee and only anakhi honest jeevan vale gursikhs are given the seva of cooking langar. But I know its all messed up these days and its very tough to keep proper dietary bibek. Thats why I personally cook my own food, its so enjoyable, plus I feel self sufficient and greatly helps me in japping Naam.
  9. Future of modern medicine is very dim as the world is about to enter a dark period of energy crisis and energy shortages and modern medicine is hugely dependent on fossil fuels. Source : http://mysite.verizon.net/vze495hz/id19.html Its very important to learn desi or puratan medicinal techniques.
  10. Farmers in PUnjab have polluted the waters and land where our Great Guru Maharaj jees walked. Punjab has reached a point of no return in terms of environmental collapse. My mother is a professor at PAU, Ludhiana and frequently tours to villages. She tells me that farmers keep a small peace of land for their family where they use very less fertilizers/pesticides whereas rest of the land is FLODDED with chemicals. Such farming is completely UNETHICAL AND IMMORAL. However, Baba Balbir Singh Jee Seechevaal is an exception in all this mess in Punjab and it would be a good idea to live with him and do farming.
  11. wow! thats why I love nihung chaunnis so much. Their lifestyle is true to Nature and God whereas we well educated sikhs have made a mess of earth and the environment. Regarding bibek, these days very few nihung singhs keep dietary bibek, having said that u do find some really charrdikala bibeki singhs in nihung chauunnis. Not all nihangs are 100% bibeki, often they take offerings of food or water from others who may/may not be amritdhari (seen with my own eyes). It's hard times and if someone is there and you can see that they are a good person and they stay away from the kurehits etc. then would it not be a sin to discriminate against them? just becasuue a person is amritdhari it doentnecessarily automatically make them a better person, no? Dear Sister jeeooo, very interesting point u make. Its true that these days there is lots of bhekh in amritdharis. And there are some really innocent(due to their previous karma) non-amritdhari people in this world. Sukha and jindaa were clean shaven but sacrificed their everything for the panth. On the other hand, some ghattiyaa haramkhor "amritdharis" used khalistan movement and the sacrifice of shaheeds to reach Canada and USA. Having said all this, keeping dietary bibek is HUKAM of Satguru jee. A sikh shud eat the food of REHITVAAN ANAKHI KIRTII amritdhari and not a bhekhi amritdhari/
  12. You were not wearing pajama in your room and the European bibis liked it? What were they doing in your room? :| Sorry veerji, but I couldn't stop laughing after I read that. Majak karda aa, gussa nah kareyo :LOLz: . I meant that outside the confernce, I was in Bana and many bibis and bibaas(boys) had come to my room as it was a kind of get together. I was wearing a nihungi bana with no pajami. All bibis in this world are my sister, all I wanted to say was that blue bana, blue dastaar and open beard looks very impressive to all bibis, not just the singhnis. I am sure that if Sahibzada Baba Ajit Singh Jee is present today, bibis will go mad after him.
  13. Just couple of weeks back, I went to a short 3 day trip to attend a conference in Singapore where I had to present a paper on semantic web services in e-governance. At the conference, I wore pant shirt and round dastaar and in my hotel room, I wore blue bana(no pajama) and blue dastaar and lots of european bibis liked it. Infact they seriously liked me, took lots of photographs with me. There was also a canadian bibi who had come to the conference, she was so impressed with this dress that she told me to tie a dastaar on her head. Had I stayed for a couple of days more, I would have converted some of the bibis into sikhi.
  14. I feel this is a big mistake that girls dont like turbaned men. Lets take the example of Kanjarr Ram Rahim of Sacha sauda, he has a big beard and wears a type of turban and there are hindu, muslim and "sikh" bibis ready to sleep with him as they feel they can cross over the deadly worldly ocean sleeping with "babaji".
  15. this boy is only digging a hole for himself. This muslim girl is not going to marry him and is going to marry a mullaa with sunnified unmentionalbe part. If this boy attaches emotionally with this girl, he will end up in a MESS. So, this boy shud either stop dating the girl, or if he cant then just do practical dating(no emotions), get his emotional cum kaami feelings out and practically realize that kaam is nuthing but an illusion. DONT GET EMOTIONALLLY ATTACHED WITH GIRLS.
  16. Ecovillages are intended to be socially, economically and ecologically sustainable communities. Ecovillage members are united by shared ecological, social-economic and cultural-spiritual values . An ecovillage is often composed of people who have chosen an alternative to centralized electrical, water, and sewage systems. Many see the breakdown of traditional forms of community, wasteful consumerist lifestyles, the destruction of natural habitat, urban sprawl, factory farming, and over-reliance on fossil fuels, as trends that must be changed to avert ecological disaster. They see small-scale communities with minimal ecological impact as an alternative. Ecovillages are being established all over the north america, europe and australia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ecovillages I feel its a great ideal to have a sikh ecovillage where spiritually like minded sikhs who want to live a simple environmental friendly lifestyle can get together and start a small farming community. I feel such sikh ecovillages could be the blueprint of the Khalsa Raj. Some locations in British Columbia are IDEAL for starting such an Ecovillage.
  17. The first ever Granthi Singh in the history of Sikh Panth were Baba Budha Singh Jee. Guru Arjan Dev Jee Maharaaj chose one of his best sikhs to this privelaged seva of being a Granthi. But these days in Punjab, "granthi" has become a type of gaalll. Some time back I went to my native village and met a middle aged person there, he told me that "you people in the city work and study so hard to reach west, I am going to make one of my son a granthi and other one a kirtanniyaa and I have some links with Gurdwaras in Canada and they are going to reach Canada more quickly than u engineers and doctors", then he laughed shamelessly. Punjabis have absolutely ruined the pavittar jobs of granthi and kirtanniya into a money making or west-reaching dhandaas. These people are no better than the masands that Dashmesh Pita burnt.
  18. Why make a poor donkey suffer 'make the so called upper caste Sikh carry the donkey'! Around an year back, I went to do the darshan of an itihaasak Guru Ghar at Bidar, Karnataka and during my 2 day stay, I met a very sweet amritdhari family who stay within the Gurdwara complex. They were pretty poor but had big hearts. I felt so much gursikhi love in their house. They told me that when they come to Delhi, Punjab, they are made to feel like second class sikhs and are mostly ignored. They are called "bhaya sikhs" at their back as their colour is a bit dark.
  19. This guy deserves punishment and he is not the only who is doing this. Punjabis/indians are desperate to somehow reach west and NRI's use this to satisfy their selfish goals. Even amrithdhari NRI's have ruined the Guru Ghar's anand karaj ceremony into an immigration deal. When amritdharis in punjab see a fellow amritdhari just taking a few lavan and running to west, they get enticed to do the same and this completely ruins the sanctity of marriage. Shame on such NRI's.
  20. I dont think that taking amrit washes ur past sins. Amrit gives a person the tool, the Naam Khanda to wash away those sins. So after amrit, when we japp naam while staying the limits of rehat maryada, crores and crores of our past sins(of this life and previous lives) are washed. Regarding the kaami past, well... if I have to get married, I will be only concerned about the life of bibi after she got amrit chakk. If she hasnt commiteed any bajjar kurehits, its pretty fine with me. But there is one very important thing ie if a bibi took amrit just to hide her past sins, I will have serious problem. If she has taken amrit for the love of Satguru jee and is keeping good rehit, well.... I wont give a damm about her past.
  21. India(present Punjab) is a land of fakes "religious babas" who are themselves so lusty, how can they stop the common man from raping ? These fake "religioius babas" are able to make lakhs and lakhs of chelaas which tells how the society is blind and degenerated and can be easily fooled. Doing hard word and earning money is tough, so the best way out is to become a religious "baba", open up a deraa, get good cars, get women crazy after you, go to usa and canada for "parchaar", get ur kids settled in west. "Religious baba" is the most easy and lucrative career in India and may be indian universities shud start up a course " master of cheating in religious misinformation" and "master of tharrkipan(lust) using religious methods and tools"
  22. This is just unacceptable. I think a " sikh" who believes in casteism shud be made to sit on a donkey, his face shud be blackened and he shud be beaten with juttis.
  23. "puratan desi" medicine is Ayurveda, right? you can find Ayurvedic clinics, practicioners and schools in every part of the world. most major medical schools in the US offer courses in Ayurvedic medicine. is it necessary that the provider be a nihung? kind of "medicinal bibek"? well... I dont think all puratan desi medicine is ayurvedic. People in the villages have developed some desi ways of treating diseases with experience. They have not read the ayur-vedaa. There was a great singh Dr. Surinder Singh Jee who had an exceptional spiritual avastha and learnt the natural medicines cure from Akaal Purakh. He served people for many years.
  24. correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't bibek mean "discernment" or "discrimination"? it's the ability to use gian (knowledge), correct? it seems to me that if you live with someone for months on end, you might have a pretty good idea of their lifestyle, ie: they are pure veg, don't drink or smoke or do drugs, etc. so maybe your "bibek" would be to allow this clean living and helpful person into your kitchen to do seva? bibek isn't only about eating from iron utensils, right? sorry, just a thought. Bibek means the abilitly to distinguish between the right and wrong. DIETARY bibek means eating food prepared from the hands of fellow sikhs. Sikhs love the entire creation incluiding plants and animals but sikhs remain niaaraa from the world by keeping their roti beti de sanj with fellow sikhs only. "SIKH KE ROTI BETI KE SANJ SIKH NAAL" is what Guru Sahib has told his sikhs. Having said that, these days many amritdharis use dietary bibek in EGO to prove themselves different(better) than others. They uselessly fight with each other over the dietary bibek issues. This is their personal shortcoming. And there is no such thing as "your bibek" or "mine bibek". Keeping basic dietary bibek is the hukam of Guru Sahib and every sikh(you or me) shud follow this.
