Excellent news :TH: We did a kiddies camp last month and had a lesson explaining why Sikhs wear a Dastar and then at the end there was a competition and the kids where put into groups and had to tie a Daster on one member of the group. We even had dumalla shasters for them to use. It was really good fun and all the kids loved it! :-)
If I think of anything else good I will post it!

Rubea is another type of kapra for Dastar. I brought Rubea Vale but found it a little too thick so now I use it for my Keski. So much choice of Dastar kapra out there!

I will try Mal-Mal. I just never brought it coz someone told me if don't last very long and the material goes out of shape

Which dastar material do you recommend is the best?? I found F74 to be the best so far!

ps. a friend of mine recommended 'Mediterranean Olive Almond and Sage' balm from Boots. Its only a tiny pot and about 5pounds but works really well on healing painful ears!

Sikhi is about accepting Guruji's Hukam!! If he wants you to get married...be happy and get married. If he dont want you too...u wont. Just go with his flow.
No one is saying marriage is all smiles and hearts but it can be if you live with by accepting Hukam. I don't know what couples you have looked at to have such a negetive view about the whole idea but I for sure know a few chardhi kalaa Gursikh couples who are who they are because of the other half!

Firstly...NOT all bibia have bollywood thinking. I personally hate bollywood!
I read a book by Randhir Singh ages ago where he was talking about how everthing Vaheguroo Ji has created has been in twos and opposites. Hot/Cold, Day/Night, Happy/Sad, Male/Female etc... So the two are meant for each other and both help each other out.
In Sikhi terms marriage gives you 24/hour sangat. Two souls become one and you both walk Guruji's path. You help each other and make sure the other one does not fall off that Path.
So if you marry someone who puts Guruji first in their life...your sikhi will not become weaker but become stronger!
Simple as. Marriage should be to help other reach Akal Purakh!

A friend did email me after reading this post recommending a book called bhavrasamrit tika which is a translation of an old sikh text on spirituality. In the introduction he talks about 4 different stages of samadi, naam simran & 4 levels of consciousness. Thought I would let you lot know if you was interested.

My sister needs to write a essay on what the religious view on consciousness is. Unfortunatly everything I came out with she didnt think was good enough and also I don't tend to look at things in a scientific way so the conversation soon ended! So I am turning to all you ss users out there because I know your all so clever :lol:
The topics she has to focus on are:
- Sikhi view on consciousness.
- How to explain naam simran in english terms...especially how it alters ones state of consciousness.
Also...would be a great help if anyone has links to any articles where science has proved the facts of bani.

I have my pgce interview for ICT Teacher next wednesday! :lol: If its meant to be I will get on the course...!
But its true because when people get in contact with a singh/singhni they always do ask questions and thats your time to spread sikhi parchaar.
Hehe just remembered now when the german women who sits next to me at work asked me if I let my hair down on the weekends. lol sorry just sounded really funny at the time!
