  1. VJKK VJKF!

To the original poster .... I am Amritdharee and I'm going through alot of the same that you have described. I usually bottle everything up and try to forget about it but in this case I feel that it might be better to talk about it or try to see things from someone else's perspective.

If you wish to talk then please don't hesitate to contact me either on here via PM

In the meanwhile I pray that your situation improves and that you begin to feel stronger. VaheGuru Kirpa Karan.

    Kind Regards

    K Kaur

    VaheGuru Jee Kee Fatheh!

Would anyone kindly suggest some practical tips on how to learn and how to get started with a Saaj ... I'm particularly enticed by the Taus and Dilruba so would preferably choose to learn one of the two.

Can a Taus/Dilruba be obtained in the UK? If so where can I find one, if not then could you please direct me to a suitable Website or provide contact details of where I can get one.

Is there anything I should be looking for in my Saaj, I remember someone mentioning that the height of the Saaj should be particularly longer if the musician is tall in height just for comfort purposes?

I just want to get started and prepare myself before joining a class or Ustaad etc.

Please do share any information in regards to preparing to learn as a beginner in these beautifully divine classical instruments.

    Sri Akaal Jee Sahae!

  3. I don't see nothing wrong in what they're doing ... Everyone's so quick to label and judge something as incorrect and 'anti-Gurmat' just because they're doing something that's not familiar to you or your Jatha ... You try reciting Jaap Sahib and bowing down to every Namastang, bet you can't do it!

  4. VaheGuru Jee,

Just want to share what my relatives in Panjab say/think about Lohri.

Many say that Lohri is just a time of the harvest season of crops like Barley and Wheat. Then some say they remember the legend of Dhulla Bhatti as he saved the Sikh and Hindu girls from being forcibly taken away by the Mughals at that time of the reign of Akbar. There are many Dharmik Geet based around this legend.

I'm not sure when and how Lohri started to be celebrated for the birth of a boy as traditionally Lohri was simply just a cultural festival in Panjab.

I know Amrith Dhaaree's celebrate the day after Lohri as Maaghi as well as Sangraand (Maagh) ... the Nihang Fauj have a Mela each year to commemorate the Shaheediya of the Chaalee Mukhteh in Muktsar.

    Saadh Sangath Jee,

Are there any Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee programmes being held in the UK this month and in January 2012?

There are usually a few that take place in the Midlands at this time but haven't noticed anything as of yet unless I've missed them all :(

Kindly share any information on any upcoming Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee programmes in the UK.

    Dhanvaad Jee.

    Saadh Sangath Jee,

I was wondering whether there are toys that have been created that are Sikhee orientated ...

I.e. Dolls/characters dressed in Sikhee atire, Dhumalla etc?

Or any games that have been designed of a Sikhee context/theme?

I'm looking for toys that are preferably aimed at children from the ages 3+

Please do post any information/links available.

    Dhanvaad Jee

    VaheGuru Jee Kee Fatheh!

    Saadh Sangath Jee,

Before the Nanaksar Ardhaas begins, there's like a Dhaarna or short Bachan that is recited that goes something like this: 'Mere Baba Jee, Deyo Darshan'.

It's so beautiful, would someone kindly post this Dhaarna/Bachan so that I can learn it for the next time I visit the Nanaksar GuruGhar ...

    Dhanvaad Jee!

Bhenjee kindly take a look at the attached file and you can download the audio recitation of this Baanee on the following links:

    http://www.gurmatveechar.com/audios/Gurbani_Ucharan/Kabaal_Singh_%28Hazoor_Sahib_wale%29/Sri_Dasam_Granth_Sahib_%28Hazoor_Sahib_Bir%29/096--Kabaal.Singh.Hazoor.Sahib--Sri.Dasam.Granth.Sahib.Paath.Brahm.Kavach.mp3

Guru Jee states in this Baanee that the Warrior who reads this 32 times will be triumphant in all battles; the Sanths who read this will gain immense peace; the Merchants who read this will gain wealth; and the Labourer who reads this will gain good health. Many Kathakaars often mention that Brahm Kavach was recited during times of Jang especially by Warriors like Baba Deep Singh Jee Shaheed. This Baanee is still read today by many Nihang Singh as part of their daily Nitnem.

  10. Too much hate on this forum ... Each and every one of us in the Panth have their own beliefs/perceptions/viewpoints of Sikhee ... And there are many Arths for GurBaanee/Ithiaasic Granths ... A GurMukh that is taught at Nihang Chaunni's would have the views of the Chaunni that they learnt from, likewise with Nirmalas, Taksaal, etc.

There are some 'GurMukhs' that don't even consider Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee as Dasmesh Pitha Jee's Baanee and some 'GurMukhs' that don't even consider Raag Maala as Baanee of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj - But no-one dares to challenge them or 'bash' them as threads get closed at once and members be put on quality control, etc - rightly so as it's each to their own - But the same case doesn't seem to apply with Niddar/Shasthar Vidiya threads ...

I have read a few threads on here and most of them are not even related to Niddar/Shashthar Vidiya and all you see are posts ridiculing and bashing each other for their views and most of all maligning the name/art of Shasthar Vidiya - (which doesn't ultimately end with Niddar and his Akhaara).

This forum seems to have become 'The National Niddar/Shasthar Vidiya HATE Campaign' ... Come on people, get a grip ...

  11. thanks for this.

can you please confirm that sri guru dasam granth sahib ji is no longer parkash at

    >thakar sri keshgarh sahib

    >thakat sri damdama sahib

    >sri akaal thakat sahib

Just to confirm from Sangath that have visited all the Sri Takhat Sahib's - no Parkaash of Sri Guru Dasam Granth Sahib Jee at this current point of time ...

Takhat Sri Patna Sahib and Sri Hazoor Sahib have Sri Guru Dasam Granth Sahib Jee Parkaashed on a smaller Palki Sahib next to Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj ... Also many Nihang Chaunnis including Harianvela and Khyalewale Dals do Parkaash in this way, so it's worth going there to have Darshan too ...

    Sri Akaal Jee Sahae!

  12. This has been discussed plenty of times on this forum, please use the search feature.

A quick search found me this thread

    http://www.sikhsanga...2Bbibia+%2Bpanj

I would also like to add that the western concept of equality (which the current generation is aware of) is not necessarily the same in Gurmat.

I've seen this topic to have been discussed MANY times before on this forum and HDSH Veer Jee you have even directed us to a specific thread that discusses such questions ... Veer Jee, why haven't you closed this thread, instead the topic just continues to roll on with in most cases ridiculous replies and then the hate starts to develop ...

Seriously, there are more issues at hand that need our attention ... Humble benthee close this thread please.

  13. I love this thread simply because of the title ... Sri Guru Dasam Granth Sahib Jee - Parkash ... VaheGuru ,,, Nice to see some Sangath keeping it real.

I will get back to you on your question as I have just asked some Sangath that have visited all the Sri Takhat Sahib's so will let you know of their reply.
