  5. See below. I'll post the Sikh/Hindu anand karaj later
  6. I read on the tapoban forum, (yes i know, not the most reliable source of truth or fact), but an individual did post something very enlightening. http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=49739&t=49739 This person said that, Baba Budha ji, (I would say the greatest and most finest Sikh to have ever walked this earth) never called himself, or was called, a Sant. Yet no Sikh 'Sant' not even the non-Sant, Bhai Randhir Singh can ever compare against Baba Budha Ji. A man in a league of his own. A man who was blessed with having the darshan of 6 Guru's. A man blessed with the priveldge of anointing (tilak) the Guru's themselves. In fact, I can't think of any individual in the Guru's time who was referred to as Sant, (except for the Guru's?). Nowadays, Sant's are 'two a penny'.
  7. Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Kesh, Kanga, Kara, Kirpan, Kashera, Yes, Most definitely Yes, If I didn't I wouldn't be able to quote the following: Guru Gobind Singh, Vachitra Natak, Chapter 8, Chaupai 1-3 Sri Dasam Granth "When I became a Spiritual Sovereign, I tried to spread Religion to the best of my ability. I hunted various games in the forest, including bears, nilgaus and elks. Then, I left my home and proceeded towards the city of Paunta. On the banks of the Kalindri, I refreshed and amused myself with many kinds of amusements. There, I killed many ferocious lions and also nilgaus and elks." I have to read up on that one, i believe in the constant remembrance of God. Don't be so paranoid. Kids! I want to know, are you a supporter of the Akal Takat and it's Hukumnamas? Or are you a renegade against it, like Kala Afghana, Prof Darshan Singh etc, etc..
  8. The ashrams of southern India are crowded with devout locals and Western "spiritual tourists" hoping to find enlightenment at the feet of swamis who are seen as living gods. There aren't just a handful of these "god-men" figures - there are 3,000 operating in Kerala alone. Jenny Kleeman reports allegations of abuse and exploitation (both financial and sexual) and offers a glimpse of a religious subculture that is memorably strange. This video can give a Sikh viewer a retrospective look on how a similar trend for 'God-men' is inflicting ones own religion. I bring you, Sants, Babair, and God-men. Who know's, the way the Sant-culture is taking over, the Sikh's might be getting our own 'God-men' documentary soon. The desire, the need for individuals to have a human mouth-piece for enlightenment, when our living Guru, the Guru Granth Sahib, is there for us to enlighten and is readily accessible. I guess some people just don't have the brain-power (more like not having the will or effort) to think deeply and contemplate Gurbani. They'd rather be spoon fed 'it' by a middle man..... 16. This video is not related to Sikhism, but I thought I'd add it as a follow up to Episode 1 of the BBC documentary, Future of Food. Future of Food - Episode 2 Screenshot Discuss the previous video at:http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php/topic/46737-punjabs-water-crisis/ Programme Information George Alagiah travels the world to reveal a growing global food crisis that could affect the planet in the years ahead. With food riots on three continents recently, and unprededented competition for food due to population growth and changing diets, the series alerts viewers to a looming problem and looks for solutions. George heads out to India to discover how a changing diet in the developing world is putting pressure on the world's limited food resources. He finds out how using crops to produce fuel is impacting on food supplies across the continents. George then meets a farmer in Kent, who is struggling to sell his fruit at a profit, and a British farmer in Kenya who is shipping out tonnes of vegetables for our supermarket shelves. He also examines why so many people are still dying of hunger after decades of food aid. Back in the UK, George challenges the decision-makers with the facts he has uncovered - from Oxfam head of research Duncan Green to Sainsbury's boss Justin King. He finds out why British beef may offer a model for future meat production and how our appetite for fish is stripping the world's seas bare. Broadcast on: BBC Two, 9:00pm Monday 24th August 2009 Duration: 60 minutes File Information http://rapidshare.com/files/273797942/Future_of_Food_-_Episode_2.part1.rar Size:200MB http://rapidshare.com/files/273806052/Future_of_Food_-_Episode_2.part2.rar Size:35MB Note: Download all the files and unzip. Future of Food - Episode 1 Screenshot Discuss this video at:http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php/topic/46737-punjabs-water-crisis/ Programme Information George Alagiah travels the world to reveal a growing global food crisis that could affect the planet in the years ahead. With food riots on three continents recently, and unprededented competition for food due to population growth and changing diets, the series alerts viewers to a looming problem and looks for solutions. George joins a Masai chief among the skeletons of hundreds of cattle he has lost to climate change, and the English farmer who tells him why food production in the UK is also hit. He spends a day eating with a family in Cuba to find out how a future oil shock could lead to dramatic adjustments to diets. He visits the breadbasket of India to meet the farmer who now struggles to irrigate his land as water tables drop, and finds out why obesity is spiralling out of control in Mexico. Back in Britain, George investigates what is wrong with people's diets, and discovers that the UK imports an average of 3000 litres of water per capita every day. He talks to top nutritionist Susan Jebb, DEFRA minister Hilary Benn and Nobel laureate Rajendra Pachauri to uncover what the future holds for our food.
