  1. Excellent!!! Thank you so much for the answer. I tried so hard finding for the answser and Waheguru always finds a way to quench all the queries of His servants, and here, you have bestowed me this understanding. Thank you so so so much. Thank you
  2. wjkk wjkf, Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib is our King of Kings. He is the boat that carries us across. Without Guru Ji, salvation is impossible. I am sure many (including me) are going to stand up against anyone disrespecting Guru Ji.Remember Bhai Mahtab Singh and Bhai Sukha Singh? I apploud the bravery of the Sikhs in Austria. It was unfortunate that he got killed. But, for them standing up, bravo. wjkk wjkf.
  3. wjkk wjkf, I think the creation, how it started, (the rebellion, heavens and all) comes from abrahamic religions. In christianity, it is said, an angel by the name of Lucifer rebelled against God and was thrown out of the heavens, together with hos group. However, in Gurbanee, we know that this question - on how the world is created- will never be known to us humans. This is His secret and finding out is like eating iron (impossible). ਆਸਾ ॥ aasaa. 5. There is another similar to this... This comes during the time of Guru Angad Dev ji.. There was a sikh called Bhai Mona who was serving in the langar of Guru Angad Dev Ji Maharaj. Mona was extremely arrogant and greedy. Some people complained to the Guru the insulting behavior Bhai Mona displayed whilst serving langar. The Guru called him for an explanation. Bhai Mona said that he was the servant of the Guru and would do anything for him and that he was not a servant of the others( sangat). The Guru than asked him to go to the nearby forest, chop some wood, make a pyre and cremate himself. Without understanding the consequences of the Guru's orders he went to the forest, cut the wood, makes a pyre and lit it. On seeing the blazing fire he became scared and was reluctant to jump in the fire. Meanwhile a thief arrived and asked Bhai Mona what he was going to do. Bhai Mona told him the whole story. The thief (who was good at heart) thought that he had an opportunity of wiping out the sins of his past life. He accordingly said to Bhai Mona that he would give him a bag of jewels if he would let him die on the pyre and get salvation. Bhai Mona happily agreed. The thief jumped in the fire but was saved by Guru ji's grace. Bhai Mona on the other hand was arrested for the theft of the jewels and was hanged. On hearing this the Guru said that a sinner could get salvation by believing in and obeying Guru's orders no matter what he had done before; whereas the pride and vices like anger and greed would destroy the result of all the service(when done in ego).
  6. Actually in Sikhi, we get to the root cause... We say visiting prostitutes is bad, robbing a bank is bad..but in sikhi, our Gurus knew, that there are millions and millions of sins...but all sins come from 5 thieves..so, control the 5 theives and all the rest will vanish.. The same with dying your hair... It is ego... to look good... control ego and this will vanish...
  7. wjkk wjkf, Thank you so much... the stories and examples are beautiful.. thank you...
  8. gurfateh jeeo, fromm what i remember, i thought that guru naanak dev ji went to the kitchen and started to make the chaki (the grinder) float, and not only his own, but all the other chakis as well, then thats wen guru naanak dev ji got called in????? its just that i am a bit unsure. i havent been refreshing my mind with the history.. thanks jeeo. wjkk wjkf, I think the time you are talking about is the time when the mughals attacked India, and Guru Nanak was put into prison. He was made to grind corn using a stone mill. But He was praying and the stone-mill was rotating itself. That was shocking to the rulers there and they figured he is of devine soul. By the way, speaking of stone mill. This is a nice shabad. Very straight forward and teaches us something. ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ salok mehlaa 1. What we are today is because of Karma. Say, if i am a Prime Minister or a wood cutter or a soldier is because of our karma. But how far does karma go in dictating our lives? Does every moment of what we do is because of karma? And, when we do bad things, like scold someone or talk in ego..is it due to karma? Because of we do bad things, then our karma gets even worse, right? We are in satsang, because of our karma, right? So, if a person who's karma has no satsang, and no mediation on God, is bound to go thru the cycle of rebirth, right? So, based on his karma, he is bound for that? Can anything be done to change this? The last tuk says that the karma of past actions cannot be erased. Say if i was to meet an accident tomorrow (example) and this is due to my past karmas, how can i change it? If i pray and pray, will this karma change? Guru Nanak says it will not. Please do explain and enlighten me. Thank you.... regards

  14. wjkk wjkf, This post is very similar to the post 'the 5 khands'. The 5 khands (taken from japji sahib) explains where the souls go through after death. Dear Brothers and sisters, please do help me, should i make a mistake in explaining. With Gods grace, the explaination is as below. OUr both is made out of the physical and spiritual entities. The spiritual entity is the soul. When we die, the soul is pulled out from the body. At the death bed, the messanger of death arrives (jamdooths) and only the person who is dying can see them (that's why some people shiver at death). The will take the soul to the court of dharam raj. However, if you are a manmukh, then you get beaten all the way. As for gurmukhs, no jamdooths come near them. I believe angels welcome them. At the court of Dharam raj, chit and gupt, will read out our deeds. The court is called dharam khand. Dharam raj then sentences the soul to punishment. Gurmukhs are spared from this because they have a mark on their forehead, of being blessed. The punishment is what we call hell. After the punishment is over, the judgement to be reborn is done. Then the soul goes through the womb again. As for gurmukhs, the pass through the other 3 khands (saram khand, karam khand and gyann khand) before reaching sach khand. In japji, it is said, Sach khand vasai nirangkarr.... This is where the Lord abides. and this is where gurmukhs go to merge with the Lord. To know deeper about the khands, read the post http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=44311 And do download the story about the exorcism. The ghost explains where he went through before emerging back as a ghost. There is the audio conversation which is accesible from www.rajkaregakhalsa.com >audio > katha > baba ishar singh, but the quility is not that good. Anyway, brother and sisters, do add in your views since what i explained is nothing much. Thank you...
  15. I understand more now....thank you so much... wjkk wjkf.. Thank you thank you
  16. Wjkk Wjkf, Dear all, I have some info about death and would be more than greteful if I could be helped in understanding the 5 khands... Author: Kulbir Singh Date: 08-18-03 07:53 Someone mentioned that Khands are merely spiritual states and not actual realms where Bhagats reside. According to Gurbani (Siri Jap jee Sahib) there are 5 khands above our place of dwelling i.e. this world including solar system and other stars we see. DHARAM KHAND Pauri 34 of Siri Jap jee Sahib explains Dharam Khand. This is the khand where our soul goes to after death. This is where Dharam Rai is stationed. Almost every religion explains this khand in some form or the other. This Khand is huge and this is where heavens and hells are. Dharam Rai has an army of millions and millions jammdoots who control the whole Dharam Khand. Siri Jap jee Sahib summarizes this Khand as follows: There are countless seasons, waters, fires, fires and low-lands like Pataal. Amidst such wide variety of things is the land of Dharam Khand. There countless kind of creatures reside. These creatures are there suffering punishments or getting rewarded for their good deeds. Everybody is judged according to their deeds done on Karam Bhoomi (our Earth or likes of it). The darbar of Dharam Rai is based on truth. Panch Jan i.e. the accepted Gursikhs get recognition and respect there. Such Gursikhs are recognised by the nishaan (symbol, or mark) on their forehead that appears as we do bhagtee of True Naam. All this may seem like fiction here but once we get there, we will realize how true it is (Nanak, Gaiyaan jaapai jaaye). GYAAN KHAND No matter who one is, everyone has to come to Dharam Khand. Gursikhs go there as well as Manmukhs. The difference is that when the Gursikhs arrive there, no record of them is found there and because of the divine mark on their forehead, they are very well respected there. Manmukhs on the other hand get stiff punishments there and are sent to hell and thereafter back to earth to go through the 8.4 million forms, depending on their karma. Gursikhs and other good people who are above heaven move on to the next khand i.e. Gyaan Khand. This is a very huge Khand and references to this Khand too are found in various religious books. This is where most of the prophets and saints of other religions fall. The ones who worship Siri Krishna, Vishnu jee, Shiv jee, and Mohammadans etc. fall in this Khand. This is where Baikunth i.e. residing place of Siri Krishna and his devotees, Buddha, and other great religious leaders are. This place is very beautiful and there are countless Krishna, Shiv jees, Buddhas there. The bhagats like Dhru reside in this Khand. This Khand is very great Khand and only fortunate ones reach here. The only drawback is that the residents of this Khand are not eternal. When Vaheguru takes back his creation, this Khand gets destroyed. SHARAM KHAND, KARAM KHAND AND SACH KHAND This is the third Khand and hereon it is impossible to describe the Khands. Sharam Khand and the two Khands above this i.e. Karam Khand and Sach Khand are beyond description. One thing is for sure that the way we are today, we cannot comprehend anything there in Sharam Khand. For this reason when one reaches this Khand, one gets new senses, mind, intelligence and surti. The reason is that with old senses and mann, budh, we cannot comprehend anything there. Sharam Khand is essential for Bhagats before they can enter Karam Khand and Sach Khand. Sharam Khand is like prep Khand for entering Karam Khand and Sach Khand. This Khand is extremely beautiful. Everything there is just too beautiful to describe. Guru Sahib just says that no one should bother to describe anything there as it would be futile and such person who tries to say anything about this Khand have to regret. Karam Khand and Sach Khand exist in such fashion as a house and varaandaah exist. Varaandah is like the outskirts of a house but within the boundery of the property. Normally the top of the varandaah is ceiling. From Karam Khand one can view the inside of the house and know what is going on inside but can’t go inside. There is immense Anand (Bliss) in this Khand. Only real warriors who have subdued all bikaars can enter this Khand. This Khand – Karam Khand is accessible mostly to Gursikhs of Guru Nanak Dev jee but some rare ones who do kamaayee of Kirtam Naam (qualitative names like Raam, Gobind etc.) and give their best shot to it, but are not Gursikhs of Guru Nanak can reach Karam Khand. Both Karam Khand and Sach Khand are eternal Khands. Sachkhand is accessible only to Gursikhs. There Vaheguru resides in comprehensible form to Gursikhs. Gursikhs stay absorbed in the bliss of Darshan of Vaheguru. Sach Khand is huge and the whole creation including other 4 Khands are within Sach Khand. Sach Khand surrounds the whole creation and is inside the whole creation. In essence Sach Khand is Vaheguru himself. In Sach Khand, the bhagats don’t lose their identity. The Ten Gurus occupy the top position along with Vaheguru. It is futile to write anything about it. Guru Nanak Sahib has written that to describe Sach Khand is like chewing iron (Nanak, Kathna KaraRaa Saar). Dasam Duaar is a shortcut to Sach Khand. It is like a door to Sach Khand. Sitting here, one can have all the Anand of Sach Khand and know what is going on there. _________________________________________________________________ My questions are such : when we die, our souls are greeted by jaamdoots... if we are manmukhs, then we are beaten all the way to dharam khand... if we are gurmukhs, are we still greeted by jaamdoots? In dharam khand, our deeds are read out by chit and gupt... and Dharam raaj passes his judgement.... Gurmuks are spared from this, since they have a sign on their foreheads... right? And based on the judgement, manmukhs are sent to hell and back to earth... The next realm is the gyaan khand for gurmukhs... This is where we are given divine knowledge right? But why is this realm not eternal? Next is the saram khand... is it a prep khand before moving into the last two khands... What exactly happens here,,, NExt is karam khand... karam khand ki banee jor... why? why is banee jor here? why is it so close to sach khand but not sach khand? what happens here? And finally sach khand... Question... sach khand is where all gurmukhs go..and they will pass by all 4 khands on the way... meaning, no one will forever remain in saram khand, karam khand and gyan khand right? question : where is dasam duar...? All this has something to do with a concept of Third Eye.. what is this comcept.? please do help me understanding japji.... ps _ attached is a great article i found from the net.,.. 17. Below are answers given by a learnt man... 1. ਹਿਰਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਬਨ ਹਰ ਪਾਤ ਰੇ ਇਹੈ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਬੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ harichand-uree ban har paat ray ihai tuhaaro beet. ||1|| rahaa-o. like the enchanted city of Hari-chandauree, or the green leaves of the forest - such is your way of life. ||1||Pause|| - page 673 What is the city of Hari-chaundree?<<<<<< The 'enchanted city' is the CASTLE IN THE AIR. In other words it is an imaginary city. Due to your attachment to Maya, you are attracted to love other things. This makes you nothing more than the imaginary castles that you build in the air due to your attachment to maya, and you become as insignificant as the millions of green leaves in the jungle. >>>>>2. What happens at the moment of death? I know there is something about messanger of death. But why does he beat you? Like said in Kirtan Sohila. ?<<<<<<< the quote you mean is "jam kaal sahih sir danda hey". Dr Sant Singh Khalsa has translated 'jam kaal' as 'the messenger of death'. The correct translation as per gurbani grammar is 'spiritual death'. Thus the meaning becomes, those who continue to live in ego, and conduct all their dealings in ego, are suffering spiritual death constantly. >>>>>3. What is Jivan Mukta?<<<<<< The word 'mukta' or 'mukti' means liberation/ freedom from bondage. We live in constant bondage of lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego. All our actions are under the influence of these five. Gurbani has referred to them as the five thieves that rob us of our spiritual merits. In other religions, liberation comes after death. They believe that the body is the bondage that has trapped the soul. Only on death does the soul escapes from the body and would get liberation depending on its karma (eastern religions), or believe in a saviour who will liberate the sould on judgement day (western religions). Sikhi rejects both. It says that the body itself is not the bondage. The bondage is the submission to the influence of the five thieves. Spiritually evolved persons can transcend the influence of the five thieves, and hence can be liberated from bondage whilst still alive. They are the jivan muktas. Khands,..the 5... all are as this web site... http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Category:Five_Khands

  19. Hi, Sikhism has always preached inner beauty. Meaning, your heart. The most important is the TRUTH. The truth meaning, you must acknowlage that there is one God and it is His wish for everything (you writting and wanting to get close to God is because of His will ). So, that done, we have to love God... How? At first, the same principles like how you love your parents, wife, husband, children. Care... love and all. After a while, the love just grows and grows. You will be eager to listen to hymns, and all the time you just think about God. Walking down the street and you claim how beautiful God made things. But that will be after some time. Some rules to get close to God. 1. Know the Truth 2. Pray on God. Meaning, sit for a few minutes and think about Him. Say Waheguru or even God. See, the most important thing is that u think of Him. During this, you can comtemplate on His greatness. If your mind runs, chill... It's hard, but you will get used to it. 3. Be satisfied of everyting and say it His blessings. Like, walking down in London, you lose your wallet, no money, hungry and raining. And you manage to collect some quid and but a small biiscuit. Thank God for it. It is a blessing. 4. Satsang... as much as you can.... 5. The last is to read banee (hymns) and understand them... the easiest is to get translations from the net... Otherwise you can message me or anyone here for it... I would recommend for Love _ SHABAD HAZAREY... With this...give it some time (you have the seeds, now grow them..with time).. and trust me, life willbe amazing. Regards..
  20. Thank you for shedding light on this. Thank you...
