There were rumours that the local shopping centre near to Wednesfield gurdwara nr wolves was being looted and shops were on fire.

As this is 2 mins from the gurdwara, i have just bene down, lol everythings ok at theGurdwara and the local shops, the police i spoek to said it's a rumour and all was okay, but remain viligant

  3. WJJK WJKF

Can people check up on their local Gurdwarae. Please go in groups to ensure safety.

    WJJK WJKF

You read my mind, was just going to post.

At the moment it seems shops/town centres are gettign attacked, so if your local gurdwara is near shopping centres etc keep an eye on it.

as i said it's just looting ect at the moment, but who knows what the future holds, be viligent Gursikho

  4. Fateh ji

Guru di kirpa, good to hear about this Bhai Sahib taking amrit.

i think in terms of a 'panthic morcha' or all opposing/beingagainst the landlord, i'm not too sure, it's nothing to do with the Gurdwara and teh panth and unless we stop pubs next to all Gurdwaras then we are treading on tricky ground.

Maybe Guru ji wanted this Gursikh to break all ties with his past now's he's stepped onto Guru's path, hence why he now has no further links with this pub.The Gursikh maybe on this occasion should let the past be in the past and move on.

  5. as someone said, Gursiksh had similar problems with drayton manor a few yrs back, all the normal steps like writing them letters, talking with them and trying to make them understand were tried, this didn;'t work and at that stage United Sikhs went down the legal route with drayton Manor, however i am not sure what the outcome of this was.

  6. What is the big deal? Don't make it anything bigger than it really is. Dhesi and Rana decided to switch channels. Happens all the time in the world. Heck, Torres left L'pool for Chelsea, Tevez left Utd for City, and Ant and Dec left BBC to go to ITV. People sometimes develop differences of opinion over time, often when nothing sinister is involved. No need to read too much into this, unless someone brings up clear evidence of anti-Gurmat activity going on.

    lol :) thats funny

  7. ok, put what ppl may feel for or agaisnt the edl to one side for the time being

this publicty stunt by the turban campaign who are supported by UAF who in turn are supported by muslim groups

    is a disgrace.

    1) This Guramit guy as far as i can see has never said anything offensive about the sikh religion.

    2) The guy has never said he represents sikhism

    3) if we set a precedent by calling everybody who we feel as 'brought the panth into disreput by their indivdual actions' to the akal takhat then sorry we will have to summon 90% of the wider sikh community as imho a so called singh who wears a darstar and falls out a pub drunk and his darstar falls off brings sikhism more into disreput than anything this Guramit as said

    4) in a similar vein to 3, he has never said he is a practising sikh, so when some1 'probably' does soem of the 4 kurehits and doesn't follow khalsa principles, u can't really go after him for bringing sikhi into disreput because without sounding as i am judging the guy, like him 90% of the wider sikh community bring sikhi into disreput every day.

as far as the turban cammpiagn go, re read the statement.

    To me it seems

    1) they are saying- stop cussing islam or face stop being a sikh. Is this a P~~~TAKE OR WUT, turbancampaign guys read our history, yes, we have never been against islam, but where does militant islam come from? all the practicers of militant islam over the yrs have got their guidance from the quran!!!! (oh i've done it now, i'm next for ex-communication)

    2) read any book produced by SGPC on our history and they mention worse thinsg about islam than this guramit has done, lol u gonna excommunicate them? watch the vismaad videos, again they mention the unjust things carried out in the name if islam

TURBAN CAMPAIGN Guys get a grip, ok u may feel strongly about racism in the edl but all i see is you are attacking a sikh for having the Guts to stand up for what he belives in, he has probably seen the effects of some of the issues from within the muslim community with his own eyes. In the process you are probably doingmore damage to the sikh community by being on your high horse and issuign ultimations.

in terms of gurdwaras and groups signing your statement, it's easy to get a signatore if only one side of the story is told!!!!!!! Hopefully someone will re-address this.

TURBAN CAMPAIGN guys pls follow upto your name and get involved in the case that saw gursikhs have their darstara removed last weekend in italy, do a press release, get some gurdwara to sign it and help the panth

Finally - to the sangat and sikhsangat admin, i do apolgise for writing the above here, but i have tried to get in touch with turban campaign direct, they don't respond, i have posted on their affli\ated facebook sites, they delete comments, i have got hold of their phone numbers, they dont respond, bascially while they are happy publihsing threats and statements, they don't give any1 a chance to reply who may disagrre with them

  8. Fateh

So basically after Guru Ji did kirpa and comin closer to sikhi, i started hanging wiht my old friends less. there not bad people but they are more into drinking and pub crawls and clubbing, etc. then other things. I dont really know alot of gursikhs like as mates, I was wondering what do gursikhs do in spare time. I mean i kno u go to kirtans etc. but when u just wana chill and stuff, like ive got summer hols comin now, all my old mates r planning days out and stuff, but i dont wana do that, because like i sed even tho they are good people, its not my thing nemore and its not a good influence on my mind etc. Like kirtan etc. is at night and u r there for meditating, what do u do in the days and like when uve got loads of time off? i kno u shud read bani and do simran but also socialising is important, how do gursikhs do it? how do u meet gursikhs that u can just chill with?

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki Fateh

    Where do you live?

If you are in UK, there's plenty of camps through the summer.

There's camps for youth/students (over 16's) where you will get to meet sangat

Also most towns have kids camps- Guru di kirpa, go there and do seva, or travel to where kids camps are happening

Guru di kirpa- sometimes i miss my uni days as in the summer there was camps every week. loads to keep busy

or find sangat in your area

    How old are u?

if there's no sangat in your area at all, and you want to keep busy in the summer, but don't want to do the pub thing etc, maybe do some volunteering

again if there's no sikh organisation in your area, maybe check with your local hospital or charitable organisation, you'l lbe doin seva, plus you'll get to meet other ppl from different communities which will help growth within your own sikhi

But 1 thing, make the most of your free time (summer) because as u get older and when u enter gristhi jeevan-u get less time and life becomes busy.

make the most of your free time- don't waste it idly

    Hope this helps

I would take anything written by Faith Matters with a pinch of salt.

This research they produced was on the back of 'a conflict resolution weekend' they did 2 yrs ago by taking members of the Sikh and Muslims Communties to Ireland.

Not surprised that they haven't released any of the real issues raised by the Sikh community at this weekend!!!!!

Speak to any of the Sikhs who went and they will all agree that it was a bit of a flop, another exercise/project by a governemnt funded agency that doesn't actually look at the root fo the problem but tries to appease other communities.

The director of Faith Matters is a Muslim, thus it was never gonna be 1-sided

  10. Its a MUST WATCH - Totally shocked.... watch it asap

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh ji

    KZ Bro, why shocked??.

When i 1st came into Sikhi (14 yrs back), I didn't no anything about our past and the sacrfice of Singhs and Bibia against Militant Islam.

Anyway 1 of the 1st things i found out was that Extreme Muslims said that within 25 yrs(OR something like this -deffo my lifetime) France would be an islamic republic and within 30yes or something - the UK THE SAME

(i think it was through an org called HUT-they were active on the Uni scene back then)

This was back in 1997 way before sep 11 bombings and before the west woke up to the real threat of militant islametc etc.

you look around europe today and things are happening.

tbh the Extreme Muslims who see all non-belivers as kafairrs and fair game etc and want to make uk etc an islamic repub;ic wouldn't sit on their back sides watching, they would plan.

Look at society, some Muslims becoming MP's, getting powerful jobs, having an influence in top postions, others control large amounts of organised crime and towns etc. and that's without mentioning Saudi money and influence through business in fields like oil, football etc etc. For Muslism to start their :islamfication of uk, they will need to imbed themselves in all aspects of our society and they are doing this. A prominet Muslim MP has already said he wants a Mulsim pRIME mINSIETR

And pls forgive me in advance, but for those who say 'it's paranoia' or it's an handful or why worry or we need to live side by side, haven't we learnt anything from our history, let's not be blinkered.

All non-belivers especially Sikh are fair game in a Muslims conquest to islamiphise whatever land they live in

The same things Sikhs have been saying about extremism by Militant Islam, sharia law, Muslim ghettos and the whole unequal funding process for community projects, etc is now being said by our British brothers and indeed Europe. There's been a few race riots recently in different parts of europe between the locals and the Mulsim immigrant popluations that have gone unreported, things are brewing, lets not sit in cukko land thinging, it's a minority, we've safe, learn from our history and yes ready for peace, but prepared for worse!!!!!

Come on Guys, we need to get real here.

Did you ever really think this documentary was gonna present the view of June 84 events as most of us belive happened.

Forget who presented it, it could have been any muppet (with an indian sounding name) the BBC had put fwd, end of day, the BBC is the biggest tv channel in uk and thus 1 of the most powerful media outlet of our government, thus any programme produced by uk about 84 would "be done as to not upset it's friend - the indian government". You really think the BBC would produce a programme that showed the indian govenment and their actions in a true light!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well the bbc has previously shown documentaries exposing the hindutva agenda touching on the rss and explainh how often organisations like rss are gvt backed!

    Gurfateh ji

My point was a document of this nature on BBC is going to be politically controlled for certain aspects, there's no doubt about that

Any film of this nature is gonna be edited to put an agenda fwd, obviously even indian government can't do proproganda that it was totally innocent in 84 etc, so next best step- justify operation bluestar and to be honest that's what came across and no doubt many who watched it who does not have much understanding of 84 will think "both sides equally involved. lets just move on". especially as both in inderjit singh and mark tully said this, also they referernced the current PM, being a Sikh, so what, Brar face meant ot be a sikh too.

The delhi massacres stuff was powerful.

End of day, we should all know by now, we can't realy too much on mainstream to do positive parchar for us on certain issues, there are some good 84 stuff out there, these videos need to be shown through avnues like Sikh Channel and continued internet parchar.

All we can hope is that youth (a bit like the bibi teaching gatka in Doncaster)will do their own research on 84 and make their own minds up

Games that normally work for say under 11's

Musical Chairs (but with a vaja doing simran, or a sevadar with a loud voice doing simran)

    Musical statues (again do simran)

pass the parcel(again use a vaja or do simran rather than music)

EYE-SPY - but with things in a Gurdwara

Chinese Whispers(with sikhi terms - Guru'Sahibs names/ the Gurfateh) This game works really well with the youngest kids

Mr Singh says ( sikhi version of simon says)

Sikhi word searches - you can generate these online

Little kids at camps as well as learning should have fun and have a big smile on their faces, for little kids keep things simple.

Another game is a sikhi version of fruit salad.

Basically sit the kids in a circle(on Chairs) and give them a name each. For example using the topic seva/simran/sangat give each child one of the names. When you call one of the names, the kids have got to run to another chair, and the last 1 is out. And if you call all 3 at once, they all have to run. This can be quite fun with older kids too if it's made enegetic and fun. Also during the games you can do vichar of the names you use

Topics/names can be changed to fit in with wutever theme you are doing for the camp etc. e,g Sahaibzadei, Historical Gurdwara, famous sikh bibi

One word of caution, if you do the sikhi fruit salad game, make sure you are in a big safe space, we've seen a few kids literally go flying running to a chair, especially older kids who get very competitive!!!!!!

For older kids 14+, do interactive stuff that gets them involved

Quiz - The Weakest Sikh(based on weakest Link. This can be made fun but learn at same time.

Pardhan for the day - get kids to prodcue a timetable of programmes/events/actvities they would want if they were the pardhan for the day

Drama - acting out role plays, can be on social topics like bullying etc too.

    Darstar tying competitions

    Roti making competitions.

Important to have sevadar (especially with older kids (14-17) who can be interactive and have a bit of a laugh with the kids especially for ice-breaker/fun actvities type of stuff.

If this is in UK (IT can be sorted out straight away as Gursikhs have good contact with authroities due to previous successful cases around the wearing of a kirpan inside football stadiums)

    thus pls pm me.

However as you use the word soccer I am asusming you are in canada and US, but stiil PM with further details of which federation it is and i am sure we can get reps from the football/soceer industry in UK to lobby on your behalf.

There's even a professional keshdhari referree here in UK, :) )
