  1. What is there in the Jot that you wish to respect it by bowing to it? Bowing at Guru Granth Sahib after Bhog is different thing. You are comparing chalk with cheese :|
  2. Then why no one stops people from going towards the Jot, bowing down in front of it?
  3. I think Chour sahIb is the only practical requirement as I myself have waved off flies from the Ang of Guru. And you can read Guru Granth Sahib to remember that it has the Jot of Nanak. Jot of Nanak is in Gurbani not in lamp. If one still need reminders might as well ask to add a statue of human feet to remind of Gur Charan. Dikhavo pe na jao, have faith in Real things.
  4. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh ji That is a very important question. I believe that earlier souls were freely flowing in the Universe. Possibly not staying at one place for long. But in some ancient mix of water, chemicals and energy flow, first basic microorganisms were formed. And souls of that time found some sort of resting place in the barely there definitions of first life forms. And they became attached. They were attached to the bodies, to the life forms. When the life forms evolved and began dividing (cell mitosis). It caused souls to split yet stick with new life forms. Over years, souls kept on sticking to their life forms, yet they evolved. And souls forgot Waheguru. And this is the best story I could cook up for now :| but the important part is, to know where you have to go. Where you have to be. With Waheguru. Have His Darshan. Guru's Darshan. And then there is no birth and life, friends or foes. Just Guru. Waheguru.
  5. Before electricity was common in India, the lamp was kept to ease reading of Guru Granth Sahib ji after dusk. When the mahants were in control of Gurudwaras, they asked people to rub the fumes of the lamp on eyes etc in a Hindu way. It has no practical use as of now I guess.
  6. Also check out Bhai Balbir Singh ji from keertan.org
  7. India's money has gone out of the hands of Indian people
  8. Hmm Kirpan for self protection is more like a last resort. It is more for standing up for justice in society. Sikhs with Kirpan have a big responsibility on themselves... to know the wisdom of when to use it. There is a Saakhi of a Singh who was hiding in the jungle. He was coming back from a village after getting some food. A Mughal soldier saw him and attacked him from behind. They fought for some time and the Singh overpowered him. He was about to bring the Sri Sahib down on him when Mughal shouted 'Go ahead kill me you ********!' and spat on his face. Now this angered the Sikh a lot and he took a step ahead. Then he put his Kirpan back in the sheath and threw down the soldier to the ground. He said 'Earlier I was killing you in defense. But after your lowly action I was about to kill you in anger, which would have been against the wishes of my Guru. I let you live.' saying this the Singh ran back to the jungle. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh ji
  9. Simple question, do the Christians come to India and the churches have carpets for people to sit instead of benches? Do they do Aarti before Jesus? No. If they keep their religious maryada intact, why are we messing up with it in US?
