Giani Bhajan Singh, a very good Sikh writer, himself went to Bibi Harnaam Kaur the wife of Shaheed Bhai Partaap Singh and interviewed her on what exactly happened at Punja Sahib railway station. Following is the the translation of Giani Bhajan Singh jee's interview with Bibi Harnaam Kaur jee:

Giani Bhajan Singh: Mata jee (wife of Shaheed Bhai Partaap Singh jee), could you please tell us something about the Punja Sahib incident? I have specially came to see you to get first hand information from you.

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: Why won't I tell you what happened on that fateful day at Punja Sahib? I remember the whole incident as if it occurred yesterday. I was one of those people who were sitting on the railway tracks to stop the train. I was sitting just behind my martyr (shaheed) husband. I have been getting the urge for long time, to tell the true story of Punja Sahib incident but no one took the effort to write what I had to tell. I am glad to hear that you came specially to hear about this incident and would be writing the story as I tell you.

Giani Bhajan Singh: How did this whole incident occur? Please tell me in detail. Assume that I don't know anything and you are telling a new person this incident.

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: This was the time of Guru kaa Baagh Morcha (1922). Police had arrested the singhs and trains of these arrested singhs of Morcha, were being taken to the Attock and Kaimelpur jails. Two trains had passed Punja Sahib. My shaheed (martyr) husband approached the station master, who was a very kind Hindu gentleman and asked him why he was not informing the Sangat of the arrival of the trains carrying the Sikh prisoners. My husband told him that the sangat wanted to do some sewa of the Sikh prisoners.

At that time my husband was the member of the managing committee of Siri Punja Sahib and he served in the capacity of the treasurer. Prior to that he served as the general secretary of the committee. Anyway, one day, the Hindu station-master informed my husband that next day at 8am the train was scheduled to arrive at the Punja Sahib railway station. As soon as the sangat heard of this, they started preparing langar for the Sikh prisoners. After the completion of the morning congregation (diwaan), an ardaas was performed as follows:

"O Sache Paatshah (True King), we have prepared Parshaada (food) for your Gursikhs. Please fulfill our wish of feeding langar to our gursikh brothers and grant us the boon that we come back to the Gurdwara Sahib only after serving langar."

After the ardaas (prayer) when we arrived at the station, we were informed by the station master that as per orders from the top, the train will not stop at the station. The sangat was at once overwhelmed by sadness and anger. They got together and decided through a Gurmata that langar would be served to the sangat at any cost and that they would not let the train proceed further without this. After this decision, the despondence that the sangat was in, at once disappeared.

Giani Bhajan Singh: What was the total number of sangat?

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: It must have been about 300.

Giani Bhajan Singh: Then what happened?

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: When the train arrived, all the sangat sat on the railway tracks with their legs crossed and started doing paath. Some men sat by the signal.

Giani Bhajan Singh: Did anyone flee after seeing the train arriving?

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: There was no question of fleeing. Everyone had decided unanimously. At that time, those present there did not have any fear of death. Motivating lectures and motivated everyone to die for this noble cause.

Giani Bhajan Singh: Then what happened:

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: The train arrived, it whistled but no one got up. At the front of everyone, my shaheed husband Sardar Partaap Singh jee was sitting. Along his side was Sardaar Karam Singh. The train hit my husband and crushed him and Sardar Karam Singh. Many were thrown off the track by the bumper of the train. My husband and Sardaar Karam Singh got shaheed there and six others who had been crushed under the train did not die but had their legs and arms severed. I too suffered massive wounds and stayed in the hospital for many months.

Giani Bhajan Singh: Did Sardar Partaap Singh get shaheed right at the spot, or later? Please tell me everything.

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: Shaheedi did not occur right on the spot. When the train stopped, people rushed to see the singhs crushed under the train. My shaheed husband, who was very seriously injured at that time said:

"First go and serve langar to the gursikhs prisoners, then come for our care. If you take us out of from under the train, the driver would take the trainaway and we will not be able to serve langar to our brothers".

After serving langar to the prisoners, then my husband was taken out. Bhai Karam Singh left his body within few hours but my husband gave his life at amritvela, next day.

Giani Bhajan Singh: Please tell us something about the time between he got crushed under the train and till he died the next day.

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: When I tried to go near him, after he got severely injured, he said, "If you are my wife, then don't come to me crying, rather be happy because I have passed my test of Gursikhee". His jaw was severely injured and had been ripped apart from one side. His forehead had a very severe and deep cut. He himself kept thanking Vaheguru that he was able to fulfill his vow of serving langar to Gursikh brothers.

Giani Bhajan Singh: Please tell me some incident of his life. How old was he?

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: At the time of shaheedi his age was about 24 or 25. We had been married for about 4 years. He was serving in the military back then but had to leave job for wearing Black turban. We came to Rawalpindi (a city near Punja Sahib, Pakistan) and started living there. He was in the forefront when the jatha went to free the Punja Sahib Gurdwara Sahib. After relinquishing Mahant control from the Gurdwara Sahib, my husband was appointed the first Manager Secretary of the Gurdwara Sahib. He kept working without any pay or salary. At that time, we got by, by selling our possessions. We did not have any money with us but my husband did not care about these things. When he attained martyrdom, at that time too he was working in the management.

Before shaheedi, we had a son who died when he was 2 years old. At his death, my husband gave proof of obeying will of Vaheguru by accepting the will of Vaheguru. He did not cry at all and not only that but he called a band group and played the band in the front of the procession as my son's dead body was taken for cremation. I gave birth to our second child, few months after the shaheedi of my husband. That child is our only daughter - Joginder Kaur (She was standing by us).

    A GREAT MIRACLE

Giani Bhajan Singh: Can you mention any other significant incident related to this great Saaka (incident) of Punja Sahib?

Bibi Harnaam Kaur: The driver of the train was an Araayeen Muslim from Gujrat city of Pakistan. I don't remember his name. The government had filed a case against him and he was investigated by a retired judge as to why he stopped the train despite orders not to do so. That driver gave a statement in front of that tribunal and this statement is of great historical significance. His statement was as follows:

"I had been given orders to not stop the train at any cost. As per the orders, I did not stop the train and it was moving at full speed. When the train hit shaheed Partaap Singh, I felt as if it had hit a huge mountain. I fell down and my hand got lifted from the speeder and the train stopped. After investigating the engine, it was found that the brake had not been applied. I felt that some unseen, hidden power (Vaheguru) stopped the train".

This driver was subsequently fired from his position. His statement proves that Satguru jee himself stopped the train.

Today in 1922 a train was transporting Sikh prisoners to Attock Jail - the Sikh prisoners were Sikhs that were arrested during a demonstration to stop the British excess sentences given to Sikhs that were serving the Gurdwara.

The Singhs have refused to eat food that has been prepared by the British, and the British have not allowed other Sikhs to give the prisoners any langar.

The Sikhs learn of the fact, that their brothers have not eaten and are now being transported to Attock jail by train, so under the leadership of Bahi Karam Singh and Bhai Partap Singh, the Sikhs rush to the railway line at Hassan Abdal, where they sat on the railway line in front of the forthcoming train with other Singhs and Singhnia, as the train ran over the Singhs, the train stopped, the Sikhs rushed over to the Injured Singhs and Bhai Partap Singh told the Sikhs to feed the Sikh prisoners first, before attending to their injuries, so the Sikhs ran to the coaches carrying the Sikh prisoners and gave them langar through the windows, however both Bhai Karam Singh and Bhai Partap Singh died a few hours later.

24 year old Bhai Partap Singh before he passes away tells his 18year old wife not to cry after his death, it is said she never cried her whole life but became engrossed in Bani and Simran.

  5. Its ok ! You are showing that you are afraid of anything different ...

If there can be muslim , hindu , christian , jewish , ..... gays , then why can't there be homosexuals among sikhs ?

Actually all those religions you just mentioned dont allow queers. However people who claim they are part of them religions say they are queer. So basically they are just wannabees who are overcome by lust.

A Khalsa will never look at the same gender in that way ever. Think of what you will after I say this, but you aint a Khalsa or "Sikh" if your a queer.

I'm not gonna post any gurbanee or rehatnama's, Im just gonna write some comen sence. Queer = Lust, Lust = Maha Paap, Maha Paap = You go to hell, You going to hell for lust = Your soul/aatmaa shall be yanked out by jamdooths out of your backside whole or the whole thats on the other end where you wee out of which shall be painfull as hell, further more you shall get beaten all the way to the court, and then non stop torture, and then back into the cycle of birth and death all over again. Also for spreading your bandarfied views the saja will be much worse.

So now you know why you cant be like that and what happens if you are, you can stop it. If not then its up to you, but stop spreading your idiotic views with everyone else. I havnt said anything the other 20 times you have posted stuff about being a queer and spreading your filth, but dude you just keep repeating yourself. I've had enough of you. This is a forum for the Khalsa. If you wanto discuss about the Khalsa then please feel free to post and ask questions however if you wanto talk about lust, queers, spread filth, then go to that site is mentioned and prance around like a little girl on there. Your topics have been removed and are under quality control for this soul reason. Basically there's nothing to argue about, its lust, and everyone knows a Khalsa should be able to control their lust. And yes there is an actual rehitnama somewhere that says you cant do that stuff with the same gender, look it up.

We are currently working on a project code named Instant Sikhee. Basically this shall be a free service for anyone who has any questions at all about Sikhee. Many people have questions however they don't know who to ask them to or they have a question and will forget it later. So what we are doing is setting up a free phone number for people to ring into at anytime and ask Gursikhs any questions they want at anytime about Sikhee, there shall also be a number to text to if they prefer to text. So for example say one day your walking down the street and suddenly think "Why do Sikhs have to wake up early?" Or "What does this Shabad mean..." and etc. Then you can either simply ring or text in to get an instant reply. We are currently looking for sevadaars to help out with this seva. Please note to be a sevadaar you shall have to be tested first to make sure you have neutral and Gursikhee views. Also if you can think of a better name then please do let us know. To help join in this seva then please either reply here, or email Hardeep@HSingh.net or ring 0800 756 1119.

    Thank you.

  8. Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!

We are currently doing a Jaap Sahib project where where we shall be making animations, apps, games & audio of and about Jaap Sahib. Soon we shall be doing a recording outdoors of a jaap of Jaap Sahib for a few hours. At the moment we have people who can play the guitar, African drums, tabla and the vaja. They shall all be playing their instruments in the background while doing the jaap. We shall be singing Jaap sahib not just reciting it. This shall be used in the animations and also aired on one of the Sikh TV channels. We shall be doing this outdoors in the countryside somewhere in the midlands in the next 3 weeks. Also after the jaap there shall be vichaar about Jaap Sahib as well. If you would like to participate in the jaap then please reply here, or email Hardeep@HSingh.net or ring 0800 756 1119. We do need as many people as possible for this project. We need both people who can sing and people who can play instruments. This is the first phase of the Jaap Sahib project we are doing, there is a lot more to come. So for the time being please join in with this one and we shall release info about the other projects soon after the jaap.

    Thank you.

  10. Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh

We are going to make an animated series like Doctor Who (http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw) however it shall be Sikhee related, so like traveling back in time to sikh history and etc. However we would like the sangats input on this please. Like what would you call it? Our first idea was Singh Who? However its a no for that name. So do you guys have any ideas for the name? Also what would you have them travel in? As we cant use the police box for the tardis as that is just blatant copying and is also kinda a weird way to travel these days. We was thinking of a Horse. However we would appreciate any better suggestions please. They are the main 2 things we are stuck on, however any other suggestions would be great as well. Also if anyone would like to help us in this seva then please contact. Thank you.

  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh veerji,

I have a stone age phone (blackberry pearl) but i only got it because it looked cool. lol

No internet or anything on it. I might get an iphone 5 when it comes out. It's very expensive though and the internet plans aren't good here.

I will download your app on my mom's iphone though and test it out. :)

Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh

lol I cant stand any other phone apart from the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 can do like everything! It can even fly! (throw it really far in the air and it will fly

    :p )

Unfortunately the app will only be available on the newer blackberry's with touch screens.

The app will be available on any full screen touchscreen device, ie palm pre, android, windows phone 7, Akaal OS, iPhone 4, blackberry, symbian, and etc.

Not going to develop apps for non touch screen devices as theres no point as hopefully they will all be extinct soon :D

Bhajee instead of jumping to conclusions, and start to make a big uproar, why don't you e-mail SikhTV first and confirm it with them?

Just for your info though, I have emailed them and they said it means like vegetarian cooking shows, and like general practical stuff in our day to day lives.

Also, dont hesitate to contact the admins if you need any help/assistance :)

Thanks once again for the sewa veerji :)

Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh Bhajee

Hanjee that's a nice app jee. However I was thinking it would be nice to have a dedicated app to SikhSangat rather then a 3rd party app where it does other stuff to.

However that app looks fantastic, and it has a lot more features then this one.

Are you guys planing on building an official app for SikhSangat? If not then ill go further with this one, however this was just made as a temporary thing until you guys do make one :D Also if not then what features would you like to see in this one?

Also could you admins please fix the RSS Feed for the calender as it isn't working, therefore it isn't showing on the app.

Also if you wanted to, you could create a feed for each forum category so in the app it can be all categorised instead of just one thing. :) However its fine either way.

Thanks for your help jee :D

So I'm a lazy person and cant be bothered to type sikhsangat.com all the time on my iPhone and I cant stand the layout of the lo-fi version of SikhSangat.

So basically SikhSangat is in need of a iPhone app for lazy people like me who cant be bothered to type in a few letters or bookmark the site.

So here is The (unofficial) SikhSangat iPhone App. You can use the SikhSangat forum and the SikhSangat news site from it.

Its just a temporary solution until SikhSangat decide to make their own app.

Ive just been testing it on my own iPhone and shall submit it to the app store later on today.

Any suggestions are welcome before it is submitted to the app store.

So here are a few screen shots of it, (I may possibly post a video of it in use if I get time):

The app icon on the home screen:
