  1. I would like to know from you guys that do you ever feel tempted to just cut your hair and remove pagg ; for not only fitting in norms of society but also to get a good handsome appearance . And also for less obstructions in marriages ( some girls don't like pagg wale mundey . They want clean shaven baby face ) , airports security checks , etc ?

I am kesadhari 20 year old and I have kept my kes because :

To maintain sikhi of my future generations . I dont want to kill an entire generation of my descendants from sikhi saroop .

If you think cutting 'hair and remove pagg' gives you a 'good handsome appearance' as well as making one more eligable to fit 'in norms of society', without being too judgemental except on what you have said; then Bhai Sahib Ji you have obviously not been blessed with the correct mindest yet required to even start to become a True Sikh of the Guru and so your name fits you perfectly :D

In this life, for a Sikh, there is simply the Guru's way (Caring and Fearing what the Guru thinks) or Maya's way (What the World thinks. Maya is Guru Ji's servant that has the whole world lost in pointless things). All the points you have mentioned come into one of these catergories.

Even the justification you give of 'I am kesadhari 20 year old and I have kept my kes because :

To maintain sikhi of my future generations . I dont want to kill an entire generation of my descendants from sikhi saroop ' is unfortunately what can be seen as being an incorrect reason.

It should be out of YOUR Love for the Guru and the overwhelming desire to follow Hukam to please Guru Ji. This view which you have just shared is similar to the parents of yesterday who tell their children to keep their hair and not cut it. When questioned by their children why? Can only ever give simple and non meaningful responses such as because this is what we do, or because I have said, or it is bad to cut your Hair, and so on.

In the end when you die, the perceptions of the world will not save you, the strength of the bond that YOU have with the Guru will - that's if it's strong enough :L: :p

You should do Ardas for this in Guru Ji's Kamal Charan Hazoori for a greater love and understanding, because without this you will undoubtedly question your own Sikhi and Principles, maybe find out that you have not come to YOUR own true realisation and justification of why to be a Keshdhari. This is when Maya, like how she has manifested as a thought already - temptation, may turn into a action.

  2. Members of the Sikh community have strongly condemned an animated video of Guru Nanak Dev on YouTube and demanded its immediate withdrawal along with an apology from its producers.

Followers of the religion and many others have termed the video as derogatory and hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikhs. A brainchild of film and television studio Rajshri Productions, the video is online under the Rajshri Kids Channel banner. The channel mentions on YouTube: Guru Nanak was a man of God who loved people and taught them the path of true faith and worship. Millions follow his teachings in their lives. This animated video will help children imbibe the sublime values that the great Guru taught.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that the film had hurt the religious sentiments of the community. "Nobody has the right to portray the Sikh Guru non-seriously and hence they should withdraw the film immediately," he said, adding that they would initiate legal action against Rajshri Productions. "We will constitute a committee to look into the matter and submit its report. The company will be asked to seek forgiveness from the SGPC," Makkar said.

The video has also created a global furore and a widespread condemnation campaign has kicked off on various social networking websites, including Facebook and Twitter.

Typical of an SGPC reaction. They must of been pre-occupied when this came out then way back then:

  3. Do not be so naive Bhai Sahib. During the 1986's +, Singhs and many a respected Panjabi went back due to various reasons from various places where Sikhs settled internationally, which resulted in them taking up arms. It has happened in the past, so why not in the furture? Who are we to know the inner character of anyone when we do not understand our own?

its all a set up, i dont see why sikhs from here would go back to kill a old pen pusher, the person who has been shot just had a big mouth , he didnt rape, kill, or physically attack sikhs, he said sikhs were hindus how many people say that here, if they had done a barbaric person such as kps gill etc then i would believe this, becuase he killed thousands of sikhs and their family member or etc might have been killed etc,

a pen pusher, theres sumthing more going on here , it dont all add up

i think we been watching too many films, i think police in india have been paid by these guys enemies to set em up its probably over land or something , and some one wants them out of the way. if its true and they did do it, what a waste, 4 people will get life sentences just for a old pen pusher, who would have died with one punch , what the hell is going on the world is going crazy, the youngsters are stupid and get used and abused by the olders so much for their dirty polictics its all brain washing like muslims do to our girls.

i still think its all 007

The basis of the post Bhai Sahib was just to highlight the fact that people from other countries have gone over to contribute their two cents and may certainly still do so in some way shape or form.

The rest of the case, well we all know how the game is always easily manipulated by misinformation as so on.

Do not be so naive Bhai Sahib. IS THE SIKH CHANNEL STUPID ???

THEY SAY RULDA WAS PART OF A SIKH SOCIALIST GROUP - COME ON!!! HE WAS PART OF THE RSS WHATS SIKH ABOUT THT??

SIKH CHANNEL CAN'T GET AWAY WITH THIS AND MUST CHANGE IT INSTEAD OF COPY PASTE GOOGLE NEWS IF OUR OWN SIKH CHANNEL SAYS HE WAS PART OF A SIKH SOCIALIST GROUP THEN WHAT ARE WE GOING TO TELL THE WORLD ABOUT RSS ???

It's not Sikh News, it's more Panjabi vis-a-vis Indian news. 'Sikh' channel source there news from various news agencies in and outside Panjab. This is why news reports are heavily influenced by propaganda and taking the governments official line on things.

Maybe for them it's a simple as, it's just a time pass thing for them to fill out there broadcasting schedule and so they don't need to put any real effort in finding out and representating the Panthic or real Sikh view?

Unfortunately if you have a look at the similarities between the news aired by them and the news coming out of Panjab (+ India) by the papers it's very similar in nature.

Additionally there is wide spread speculation about the links between Delhi (Sarna) and the 'Sikh' Channel so maybe some influence is being exerted to tow the socialist party line statement.

  7. Family educates kids on Sikhi from day 1

GurSikh parchaaraks/kathavaachaks do parchaar day 2

    Amrit Sanchaars happen day 3

    One addition to the above:

Family educates themselves in depth about Sikhi while also putting this into action through Simran, Seva and Sacrifice - i.e. practically as well, not just a literature review :p. Thus practicing what they preach - i.e. no double standards. Day 0

You can't build a 'house' without strong foundations. :BL:

  8. Finally someone has been blessed with the Kirpa to upload this rare article.

There were many others which have now (over the last 10 years) been removed from newspaper archives on the net. Some contain rare images also.

Hard copies are rare to come by, Guru willing, some of the Singh's who have various bit's and bob's will be able to digitalise them for everybodies benefit as well as pictures that they have of some of the other beloved Singhs from that time. ;)

  9. Hindustan Times: Link Here

A global human rights advocacy group working for Sikh rights on Thursday called for international support after the Sikh high priests in Amritsar announced that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots across would now be called a 'genocide'. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, US-based International Human Rights Organisation's (IHRO) attorney in New York, sought international support to get the 1984 carnage of Sikhs declared globally as a genocide. The five Sikh high priests, led by chief of the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikh religion, Gurbachan Singh, met in Sikh holy city of Amritsar, 250 km from here, Wednesday and announced that Sikhs should now call the 1984 anti-Sikh riots a 'genocide'.

Pannun said: "The central religious authority of Sikhs - the Jathedars of the Takhts - five high priests have declared that the November 1984 killings of Sikhs in India, in which thousands of innocent Sikhs were killed across 18 states and more than 100 cities was a genocide."

"According to Giyani Gurbachan Singh, Akal Takht Jathedar, the targeted and planned killing of Sikhs and attacks on gurdwaras was a direct attack on the Sikh religion itself," he added.

"The declaration from Akal Takht is very significant because it brings finality for the Sikhs as to whether the killings were genocide or not. We will seek global support to get it declared as a genocide internationally," he added.

The Akal Takht directed the Sikh community, Sikh organisations, media and other groups around the world to call November 1984 'Sikh Genocide' and to support Sikhs for justice in their efforts to get the genocide recognised internationally.

"Over 25 years have passed, but the 1984 victims are still awaiting justice," the Akal Takht chief said.

Over 6,000 Sikhs were mercilessly killed by mobs following the assassination of then prime minister India Gandhi by her two Sikh bodyguards at her official residence in New Delhi Oct 31, 1984.

  11. According to the local newspaper that get where daas studies. The four accused have been bailed.

Maybe if the evidence was incriminating enough then this surely wouldn't be the case in the UK, but not entirely clued up on Law just yet.

Maybe in a few more years.

There is also a news report mentioning the names of the accused, however feel that it would be inconsiderate to post it as this will only increase the attempts to get in contact with them to find out the goss and gain some punjabi 'poamp' amongst friends in knowing them or supposedly what 'went down'.

Thus this is a humble benti not to post the article with their names on this or any other forum if you find it :umm: :BL:

  13. "We don't want any Sikhs from Britain getting involved with dirty politics in India. We are trying to defuse militancy in the gurdwaras [sikh temples]," said Kulwant Dhesi, president of the British Sikh Council.

It's not really..It's the power of sell out prabhandak committees who act as informants, and usually abuse their postion to frame individuals.

Often these arrests are based on nothing but information provided by a couple "influential" sikhs who use their leverage to knock their enemies out of the picture. It's being going on for the last 26 years between elder committees in the UK and the Midlands prabhandaks are experts in framing each other all the time.

Someone obviously feeding the ears of the Counter Terrorism Unit rather than providing them with "intelligence"

Well reportedly it is the British Sikh Council who planned the murder.

 Hahaha, one hand they trying to difuse a 'problem' and on the other they getting stiched for it. So this is probably where the dirty game that many elders like playing comes into it, in the sense of naming names, dirty politics and settling 'differences'. Link

  14. Four arrested over murder in India

Four men were arrested today on suspicion of murdering a high-profile public figure who was gunned down in India.

West Midlands Police said the suspects, who are all British nationals, were detained in Wolverhampton, Coventry and Smethwick, near Birmingham, in connection with the murder of Rulda Singh last year.

A police spokesman said two men had already been charged by Indian authorities in connection with Mr Singh's killing in Patiala, in the Punjab, last July.

Mr Singh, 62, died a fortnight after being shot outside his home in Patiala on July 29.

It is understood that no request for extradition has been made in respect of the arrested men, who could face trial in the UK if they are charged.

The police spokesman said: "West Midlands Police have arrested four men on suspicion of the murder, in India, of Rulda Singh.

"The men, who were detained earlier this morning at their home addresses, are from Smethwick, Wolverhampton, and two from Coventry.

"All are British subjects and aged between 27 and 36."

The British investigation into the murder, which was reportedly linked to a Sikh extremist group, is being conducted by officers from West Midlands Police's CID and its Counter Terrorism Unit.

Detectives travelled to India to carry out initial inquiries in April this year and officers are said to be working closely with colleagues in India.

Detective Superintendent George Tracey, of the Counter Terrorism Unit, said: "The investigation into the death of Mr Singh is complex and ongoing both here and in the Punjab."
