Personally, I feel that there is nothing wrong with touching feet of elders because Its our way of respecting them according to our culture.

However, no one should touch feet of someone in hazoori of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Some are Hindus and others are Muslims. someone is lliifazi (ashiah=renouncer-follower of Ali) and another an Imam-Shafi (Sunni=adherent of the Prophet) but ye recognize all human race as one.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji Sri Dasam Granth Page 47

Maharaj tries tells Hindu's and Muslims to be true to their religions. We are taught not to diffrentiate, then why would Sikhi be a missionary religion if we believe in all of human race as one. We don't say any religion is wrong, its their path, the only true religion is Naam.

  4. On a side note, Circumcision is mentioned in the Bible. So Muhammad was just enacting on Abhraham's teaching. Sorry this was totally off topic.

Maybe Ramanand was someone else? Because I dont see why Guru Ji would talk about Bhagat Ramanand in such a manner. Im probably wrong so Bhul Chuk Maaf

Well if one really needs guidance from Guru Sahib then they should take a Hukumnama. But personally, I feel that "Guru Mere Sang Sada Hai Naale," So of course Guru Ji can give us signs to stop us from astraying on the wrong path. He is our father and Guru Ji will always look out for his devoted Sikhs.

  6. Killed person was brother of Nawab who vouched for release of sahibzade at Sirhind.

Wazir said to Nawab why he was speaking for sahibzade especially when their father

    had killed his brother.

Nawab of Malerkotla replied that his brother was killed in battlefield. In the same way

Wazir khan should fight father of sahibzade in battlefield and in that case Nawab will also

participate and fight against Guru sahib. To kill innocents children is a cowardly act.

Thanks GPS Veerji and Pal 07 Veerji biggrin.gif

  7. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

    Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

I was reading some parts of the Zafarnama and I came across this line,

Ki aan khvaajah mardood saayah daavaar|| Nayaamad ba maidaan ba mardaanah vaar||34||

The condemned Khwaja (Khizar-Khan-Chief of Malerkoda); Did not come out of the shelter of the wall to fight like a man.(34)

    Page 1728

Who is Maharaj talking about? And is it supposed to say Malerkotla instead of "Malerkoda"?

Can anyone explain this line more?

  8. Also, i don't see the need for everyone to place the tilak as it was only Baba Budda Jee alone that put a tilak on Guroo Ram Dass Jee and not everyone in the sangat. On a satkaar level, surely if thousands of people put a tilak on Guroo Granth Sahib Jee, over time that would cause more beadbee and actual damage to Guroo Jee's saroop in the long term?

Personally, I find it very uncomfortable watching all those people placing a tilak on Guroo Jee, not because the tilak is seen as a Hindu practice today but because of the beadbee that it can and ultimately will cause!

This is exactly my point, even though I might have not made it clear. If that was how Gurgaddi was passed down, then only Baba Budda Ji had that right, not normal people like us. We have no right to compare ourselves with Baba Budda Ji and copy him.

  9. People are saying this practice of putting tilak to angs of Guru Sahib is wrong, but what is reason behind it being wrong. Forget what this one guy is doing and his intentions, but focus on the one thing that is being shunned here.

I am not saying it's right, but then again why is it wrong?

It's wrong because then we are doing idol worship which Guru Gobind Singh Ji told us not to do. Why bring in brahmin rituals in sikhi? Sikhi is perfect as it is, we dont need tilak and aarti (the plate) in Sikhi.

"Jab Lag Khalsa Rahe Niara, Tab Lag Tej Diyun Main Saara, Jab Eh Gayi Bipran Ki Reet, Main Na Karun Inki Parteet" Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj

Maybe this is why to some extent we aren't prospering as a panth, because we bring these Brahmin rituals into Sikhi.
