  1. Well no. Thats giving our non-British friend a very inaccurate assessment of the facts. The truth, in fact, is the complete opposite of what you just said. With the exception of the London Mayor (who is elected and does not wear silly fancy dress) the other local Mayors are not what non-British people would understand a 'Mayor' to be in the traditional sense. These 'mayors' are not elected and have absolutely no power or position of authority.

That's not true. Mayors in some other cities are elected officals and are responsible for all council descisions.

  2. I think your a liar. Who works for nothing but just lets some one pay the rent. How did you pay bills, food, clothes look after your kids? That is just stupid. your story is ridiculous, native american lori who found allah - like where? Oh yeah when somone asks you something you just change the story abit. Like he doesn't really have family his friends are his family is what i meant. how old are you do you think we are all teenages and can't see when someone is chatting bob. now eff off.

  3. They were singing Gurbani. They have utmost respect and satkar, more so than many Sikhs who needlessly spread manmat and further cause division among Sikhs by causing arguments.

There is nothing in Rehitname or anything that condemns Muslims or even Atheists coming into Sangat and singing Gurbani.

Not sure why you would say such a thing. This kirtan really strikes the chords how they are supposed to be - sung with piyaar and sharda regardless of being Muslim.

    Waheguru

Go and read all the posts again. My comment was in response to the quote aboute only Gursikhs can perform kirtan. i am against any form of discrimination and don't like it one bit when some one justifies something by bringing religion into it, anyone should be able to perform kirtan. I think you may have misunderstood what I said.

Hence the term panthic police. BTW I meant to rehat maryada not rehitnama. My bad.

Why would you make the above comment and then also like the comment about Tony in which he quotes the sgpc rehit maryada in which it states only a sikh can perform kirtan in congregation? Please answer this as you can't have it both ways.

  4. This is not our gurus hukam, come on putting singh or kaur on your id does not make you a sikh but then its ok to have anand karaj. Most of the time you need to get married then you can change yor surname but change by deed poll and your a sikh and can have anad karaj if your born in punjabi sikh family but have no religious idea and no singh or kaur in your id you can get married. What a STUPID prerequiste.

BTW there was no driving licence passport etc. in gurus time but to get married before the guru as long as it includes singh or kaur your ok. <banned word filter activated>!

  5. theres sham anand karaj happening all the time just because both couples are of punjabi origin does not make them sikh. Why no one stops these marriages. If some happens to be punjabi they can have anand karaj even if they have no intention of following sikhi let alone ever go to the gurdwara ever again. They do not even have singh or kaur in the name as is required but thats ok.

Infact if one person is of non punjabi sikh background you will find they most probably have more knowledge of sikhi and have researched sikhi thanthe average punajbi.

    chalo talibanise sikhi,

  6. As for warfare formations, we can examine historical texts from Sikh and non Sikh sources to examine what kind of battles Sikhs fought in. In a book I read called Siques, Tigers or Thieves it talks about Sikhs used to part take in guerrilla warfare and would do something they would call "two and a half strikes) and then retreat. It was a kind of psychological warfare meant to allow small numbers fight against thousands. Martial ability, horsemanship, fearlessness and mastery of the sword and musket combined with this art of two and a half "vaars" scared the Mughal fauj to bits.

Don't confuse advertising a product called shastar vidiya with someone's personal agenda/opinion.

the person who you are referring to was heavily involved with the book you are quoting.

  7. The article is very good only thing I would point out is his stance on caste. He says caste should be ignored and commends the SCUK for having members with no caste resembling names ( what! If its someone's surname it's there surname) anyways then he is so contradictory saying there needs to be an equal amount of 'jutts' I think he means jatts to non jutts. So how is that ignoring caste?

  8. I made a very stupid mistake of going to Gurdwara 2-3 times will drunk , even the biggest alchoholics didn't dared to step in gurudware when they we drunk but I stupid guy still went their as I had to I knew I was going to gurudware but still I choose to drink alchohol hour before going there , I swear I have drinked only 4-5 times .its been 10 months since this has happened and whats more shameful is I m not guilty for doing it but feel more guilt if someone could found this out , I don't think alchohol is bad thing to drink ,I don't know how to deal with all this , I m afraid I will easily be thrown in this sharaab thing if it was not for my family ,I m just confused

WOW! desiid that is very wrong. However, you don't need everyone on the forum too tell you that.

You have admitted that to yourself and the good thing is you feel ashamed as you know it's wrong, you can't change the past but can the present and future. Please never ever do this again. You need to ask Maharaj for forgiveness. With an honest heart and with sincerity pray to waheguru ji and apologise for your mistake. Waheguru is all loving.

  9. I am sorry. Please continue making money of shaheeds, without obtaining permission of his family or financially reimbursing them. End of the day you are briniging awareness. Hopefully you will make all profits go to some sort of shaheedi fund, but most probably it will be a small contribution of profits. But seriously why does a printed white t-shirt cost just under £20, I am sure theres a huge margin on that and if not- you are paying too much for your stock.

I am not a hater just saying it's not right too make money of shaheeds as no permission has been granted or the family benefits. It's like using the image for free to make money for yourself.

  10. This shirt is to show your respect to the shaheeds, that you remember them and have not forgotten these warriors

I think we know that, how about answering the questions raised such as are you a profit making venture or a charity?

Also is Bhai Sahibs family even aware you are using his image and have they given permission or are you using images without next of kins permission? Are all profits going to Shaheedi funds?

The price seems quite high for a plain white tee with a print as you can get Hollister or A&F shirts cheaper! I only know as I bought some the other day I'm sure theres loads more brands also.

  11. Correct thing to say would be "cheena bhai" haha, but he's not Chinese, he's an American like us. You can say American with Chinese descent though.

Why is that? Why not just American. Like never heard American with European descent. But always AFRICAN american, or NATIVE american etc. Americans do treat all it citizens as Americans, but why prefix your Americaness with the colour of your skin or ancesteral roots if your not white? Like many have been there for 100 years plus.

  12. everyone email this guy to change the caption please pzervakis@wxow.com

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The Sikh faith is an offshoot of Hinduism, according to practicing Hindus Ayesha and Vikas Patnaik.

    http://www.wxow.com/...-for-each-other

The racist Canadian Hindu Advocacy is promoting this on twitter https://twitter.com/canhinduadv

Please contact this news site and tell them the following:

Fair enough you could not contact a member of the Sikh community so contacted a member of the Hindu community. You made it clear they are not the same but you stated it is an Sikhism is an offshoot of the Hindu religion. Just to clarify things up it is NOT.

The easiest way to do this is by an example which you will understand. It is the equivilant of saying Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism. Just because Mary and Joseph followed Judaism prior to Jesus Christ birth it does not make Christianity an off shoot religion of Judaism.

  13. KalSingh, I totally understand what you and others are saying BUT don't you think sikhs should market for want of a better word, themselves uniquely. We don't need to say we are not this that or the other but SHOW the world what Sikhs are. We need to reclaim the image of a bearded turban wearer. We need a clever strategy so that when someone sees an image of a turban and beard they think Sikh not Bin Laden. Admitedtly this is very hard, I currently have no idea HOW. But is this not what we should aim for? Instead of not shifting the blame as such but trying to deflect the the attention of us and saying were innocent, we did nothing just because we look like the image of a terroirsit we are not, it wont work as people will then want to research. Guess what just like I said before they will just then say ok let me find out more and then google Sikh and Terrorism. What will they find, you know already. They will take a nation such as India's side over a religion as in western eyes India is an emerging economy who promotes itself as the worlds largest democracy e.g it was said in the Olympic commentry when the India team came out.

  14. Sometimes I think it doesnt need us to go into too much detail. All we need to say is 'Sikhs are not Muslims', period.

If all us Sikhs went on as many sites as they could around the world ie Sikh websites, facebook pages, chat sites like this, twitter etc posting the simple words 'Sikhs are not Muslims' everything would be fixed overnight.

I'm sick of the fact that Muslims commited the 9/11 acts in America and the 7/7 acts in England and we Sikhs are taking all the flack!! Just as an individual needs to take responsibility for their own actions so do religions need to take responsibility for their own actions and history. Otherwise their is no incentive for that religion to sort out the mess it created or apologise for the mistakes it's made. It's up to the Muslims to sort out their own mess. SIkhs didn't commit 9/11 or 7/7, Muslims did. Nothing bad us going to happen to the muslims if we make it clear that we Sikhs are not Muslims as most Muslims don't wear turbans or have uncut hair anyway. So, we are not even doing the Muslims any favours by living a lie by effectively joining in this whole facade of not making it clear that we Sikhs are not Muslims.

Your statement is highly offensive to the majority of muslims in the world. The perpretators of the crimes might have said they did it in the name of Islam but alot of muslims would disagree. Just because someone belongs to a faith does NOT mean they represent it. Alot of muslims would not acknowledge the terrorists as muslims.

K s Brar was instrumental in bluestar he claims to be a Sikh who has gone on record in saying he wanted to clear the sacred Harmandir Sahib of extremists. Do you agree he was a Sikh? KPs Gill a so called sardar was he also representing Sikhs? So the actions of some people do not reflect the actions of a whole communkty. Also it's not right to say were not muslims we didn't commit those crimes, so don't blame us. What about innocent muslims? We need to condemn these type of hate crimes wholesale against anyone. Also if you go along that route someone just has to search Sikhi + terrorism and they will find alot of ammo as there is the air india bombings in the mid 80's and loads of other bs on the net about Sikhi. Remember theres less of us so be clever in your responses.

Finally, I'm sorry if I'm hurting some feelings here, but I think it's just a fact that your average mona Sikh is not going to feel as much of a need to spread awareness about who Sikhs are because they are usually not going to be confronted.

You'd be suprised many moneh have immense love for Sikhi and promote and stick up for its values ALL the time. I'am one of them.

  15. This is just a typical Asian response. I don't think there is any sinister plot by hindutva or GOI agents to defame Sikhs. Those idio ts did that by themselves. Why are so many members on this forum so paraniod about India.

Lets look at it from a hypothetical scenario. If the unfortunate massacre in Wisconsin haopend in India the majority of the members here would blame it on Indian govt. and will think burning Indian flags abroad is ok. But as it was in the US well it was a lone gun man and lets not hate on officials. Why can't same logic be used against the guys in the pictures. They are acting alone the GOI I doubt has told them to burn US flags as in the long run it makes India look bad infront of the US as India does try to brown nose US alot.

  16. Please give youar views and answers so that we all

learn someting for benefit of Sikhs worldwide.

I can read please learn to spell correctly. (BTW it ain't a typo as u, a and r are not next too one another).

When you learn to read, you will understand the question.

I am asking for views and answers. And we are keeping New Zealanders

well aware about Sikhi, so don't worry your little mind

    over it.

    much more aware about Sikh

Please help the American brothers by sharing what you New Zealanders are doing and enlighten us all so we can take on board your efforts.

Also ' much more aware about Sikh '. I do not understand as it does not make sense.

  17. No Americans aren't dumb but this question is very dumb. I presume this is in relation the shooting in Wisconsin. Well why would you say that, would it be ok to shoot innocent muslims in a mosque?

In many threads you ask questions like what is being done about this that and the other but never provide a solution yourself. Or what you have done.

Also I think more people in US know about Sikhi than in NZ. So worry about your own backyard and don't base your assumptions of a whole nation on a couple of nutjobs.

  18. JSinghz, those people holding those signs have been swayed to defame Sikhs in general.

Why would Sikhs say US Govnt shame shame? I'm American and proud. The fault lies in the shooter and what fuels the hate/ignorance - partly the media and mostly our own (Sikh's fault) for not being able to tell about our own identity.

We're waking up now though faster than ever. A lot of people are doing good job creating awareness.

Exactly how is it the govt.'s fault. No nation on earth can police all of is citizens 24/7. Please Singho/ Singhniho please portray our faith in a positive light. We need to condenm the shooter and him alone. He acted of his own accord. Both the US govt officials and wider US population have come together and condenmmed the shooter and offered condolences.

paji no one has been swayed to defame Sikhs, it's just the mentality in the sub continent. Don't be so paraniod.

My heart goes out to all families affected and the wider sangat who had to witness this henious crime.

Also did the gurdwara sahib not have CCTV? As that would help to answer many questions. It's a given here in UK gurdwareh have CCTV so whats the score in US or Canada?

  19. I've heard two rumours just wanted to check that they are just rumours and not true.

    2. A Girl was raped in Nananka Sahib Gurdwara. http://pakistancrimi...apist-arrested/

Paji, did you actually read the link you provided and is it the correct link? As the story there is about a muslim girl being taken to Lahore by a muslim guy and being raped there. Luckily she managed to escape back home. No mention of a Gurdwara.

You do know Nankana Sahib is the name of a town in Pakistan. In Nankana Sahib there are numerous Gurdwareh including the birthplace of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, i.e. Gurdwara Sahib Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib. This Gurdwara is known as Nankana Sahib but there are also many other Gurdwareh aroubd which are linked to Guru Jis live also it is the name of the town where they are located.
