  1. Hi Wales,

    Hope all is going well.

To answer your question very briefly, Sikhi is 100% monothestic.

In Jap Ji Sahib and other prayers, there are various references to devi devtas. You are quite correct in that they are often used to illusrate some of the different facets of the power of God.

The passage which you quoted actually rejects the idea of the supremacy of the deities if you examine it carefully.

The passage speaks of three elements of the power of God, Creative, sustaining and destructive. These are describes as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva; three of the most recognised Hindu deities. The passage is clearly not confirming the status of these deities and the split of powers between them. Instead, it indicates that even if there were such deities, there is a power above them which sees them and controls them, but they cannot even see this one entity which is above them (ie God). This is therefore confirmation that there is one supreme master rather than a multitude which have different powers.

Hope this clarifies somewhat. I apologise for not having the time to go into the level of detail the question requires to be answered properly.

  2. The connection is through Bhai Baghel Singh, who in the 1780's attacked Delhi and occupied the Lal Kila, flowing the Nishaan Sahib. There are seven Gurdware in Delhi at historic sites that Bhai Sahib Ji is credited with establishing through his actions. These are Gurdwara Mata Sundri, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Gurdwara Bala Sahib, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj,Gurdwara Sis Ganj, Gurdwara Moti Bagh and Gurdwara Majnu Ka Tilla.

  3. Don't get taken in by posts saying that Amritsar airport is a hassle and going through Delhi is a breeze. These types of posts and false rumours are being circulated by vested interests. As more and more flights and passengers land in Amritsar the more income Delhi loses. I went to Punjab in December last year and I had no problems and I wear a Dastar. The arrangements for luggage such as a Tractor to move the luggage from the plane to terminal is basic but it does the job! Depending on how far the plane lands from the terminal you either walk 50 yards from plane to terminal or 250 yards by transfer bus. The service at the Airport is good and I had not problems at immigration. The luggage came on time and from the time the plane landed to when we got out of the Airport was about 40 minutes. This is because unlike Delhi where the immigration queue is packed the queue in Amritsar was light because usually only one flight lands at a time. There were 3 immigration officers on duty, Delhi usually has six.

As for the other scare stories. Porters do approach you to take their luggage but unless you have the mental age of 5 then you tell them that you can handle your own luggage and they'll leave you alone. The good thing about Amritsar is that the people who have come to drop you off can come and stay in the terminal for a fee of 35 rupees each. Unlike Delhi where they have to wait in a building across the road. The number of trolleys in Amritsar are sufficient unlike in Delhi where once when we arrived at departures some Bhayyas had got hold of all the trolleys and were charging 100 rupees to passengers to use a trolley! Even though passengers had already paid something like 800 rupees as airport tax. Toilet facilities are also good and they are clean like Delhi. There is no STD PCO facility there but as most passengers have mobiles then it doesn't present a problem. There is a good restaurant and a fast food joint at the Airport and prices are expensive but then you would only eat at the Airport in an emergency as there are so many good restaurants on the road to the Airport. The terminal building is new being opened only a few years ago. Being a smaller airport than Delhi I've found it actually takes less time to go through Amritsar than Delhi.

I've been going to India through Delhi for the last 15 years and this was the first time I went via Amritsar Airport and to be honest I will never go through Delhi again. If you look at all the disadvantages of Delhi for passengers going to Punjab then you can understand why more and more passengers are going through Amritsar. The journey from our village in Ludhiana district to the Airport took a little over 2 hours. The journey from Delhi is about 7 hours. It is easier for relatives to get to the airport unlike Delhi. If you want to hire a good sized vehicle to take you and relatives to Amritsar airport it's about 1600 rupees round trip, to Delhi the same vehicle will cost you at least double.

Although the talk of a new airport at Halwara would be ideal of us, the journey from village to airport would be 20 minutes but I would still rather have Amritsar developed to become a first class airport rather than have two international airports in Punjab.

I think your post is unfair in suggesting these descriptions of issues at Amritsar are falsified. I myself used the Amritsar airport for the first time recently, and recieved quite a lot of unwarranted hassle; I would suggest more so than at Delhi. Also, the staff there appear to be wholly amateurish and nobody seems to know what the rules for anything are. An example was a guard I saw freely allowing some passengers to carry water bottles and pepsi bottles while confiscating small tubs of cream from others'.

There is no doubt Raja Sansi airport could be far more popular if not held back by Delhi, but this does not mean it is without genuine faults.

  4. DTF books in Birmingham also offer a Sundar Gutka with translation and transliteration. If you are looking to obtain the CSJS published version, make sure you get the second edition, as the first is full of errors and mistakes within the transliteration.

  5. lol atleast tell me if u dont know what am on about? or if theres no luck? theres Sangat here ALL ROUND the world - isnt there no where, where there's one made???

    Gurufateh!

Its actually a quite interesting play if you get into it, a good insight into some of the issues caused by British presence around the world.

  7. haha the question was aimed towards Kumi but its great to know your doing swell.. :D

My response was aimed towards Kumi, and not your reply to Kumi. Kumis waaaay more important than u. But its great u think its great to know how im doing aswell, so thanks I guess.

  8. Part of the problem is that the sons of the previous Sant, Baba Mihan Singh Ji, wanted to take control of the Nanaksar Dera and have been trying to do so for some time.

I have heard other rumours that Baba Harnek Singh danced in front of Maharaj, but no proof. There has been a newpaper article think it was in Canada, about Baba Harnek Singh being arrested for drink-driving.

As far as I'm concerned, Baba Mihan Singh Ji was a great Sant. Not so sure about Baba Harnek Singh, have not seen him much in UK.

Be sure to make an appearence at the next Nanaksar Nagar Keertan in Coventry; there you will see all the proof you need. Was the drink-driving just an article or was he actually convicted? I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult for someone in Canada to uncover the truth there either. I think there is a parallell post-Mihan Singh Nanaksar Sant in India, who has the Nanaksar Gurdwara there under his hold, and if I remember correctly, there is friction between the two with regards to who is the real successor to Baba Mihan Singh.

  9. I have listened to the same recordings you reffer to, and agree it would be hard to understand what was being said unless you are very familiar with the bani.

However, if you are familiar with Jaap Sahib as per teh example you use, I think you can quite adequately understand what is being spoken, although the speed does not allow for much thinking/interpretaion time.

I don't think this is ideal, but I guess it might work for some people, but the best advice is if you don't agree with it, or it doesn't work for you, the find a version you are more comfortable listening to. Personally, I would suggest the one done by one of the Jago Vale guys ftaht can be found on www.ektaone.com

  10. Idiotic admins closed it cus we hijacked it, EVENTHOUGH it was our thred

  12. Last evening as I sat with baby Tektas, I was thinking about the picture. (I was bored) Anyways I think I wondered of to the land of nod. When I woke up it hit me. The original poster gave us a warning about the picture, and then he disappeared. Whatever happened to Akaal108?

According to the scared parchment also known as Google the word ‘wicked’ is defined as:

    • morally bad in principle or practice

    • sinful: having committed unrighteous acts; "a sinful person"

    • severe: intensely or extremely bad or unpleasant in degree or quality; "severe pain"; "a severe case of flu"; "a terrible cough"; "under wicked fire from the enemy's guns"; "a wicked cough"

    • impish: naughtily or annoyingly playful; "teasing and worrying with impish laughter"; "a wicked prank"

    • disgusting: highly offensive; arousing aversion or disgust; "a disgusting smell"; "distasteful language"; "a loathsome disease"; "the idea of eating meat is repellent to me"; "revolting food"; "a wicked stench"

That picture is evil I tells you, evilll, evilllllll. Finally a reason as to why life has taken a nose dive since March 2005.

Edit: Someone sent me a pm informing me that the reply I wrote, in a court of law is considered as a death threat and I can be locked up for that, as a consequence, I’ve edited a bit of the post which referred to you Harpsy. I’ll just tell you on the phone.

I think the stress has finally got to me, I need a hug bro.

Were u gonna kill me??? Is this what society wants to do to you when you become aged? Funnily enough, speaking of death, I think Akaal108 is no longer with us, but I believe he has reincarnated. Dunno if this is true, could someone check on Wikipedia please?

  13. I would fund this suggested web project...but....I'm tight, so I'm not gonna.

Can we put it on some free site?? I mean it would be impossible to respect this picture enough by buying an adequately expensive site name for it, as there would be no such site name and webspace existent, so why don't we just give up trying?

BTW, was up at 11:33 because I got hungry. I have a new meal schedule:

    Breakfast

    Brunch

    Lunch

    (As of yet unnamed meal)

    Tea

    Supper

(As of yet unnamed 11:33 snack time)

    Midnight Feast

Worst bit is I'm not even joking (seriously)
