Does your second line mean some people would mind if the Gurus refferred to themselves as God? Sorry, just curious, it was hard to understand what exactly you meant.

The Guru is written from the first person point of view. It applies to the reader and the reader alone, if there is a love in the Guru then it is for you, not the neighbour, if there are harsh words in the Guru then they are for you, no one else. People generally tend to think the Guru speaks to the Hindus and the Muslims, but not the Sikhs. Such thoughts will keep you away from the real message, which is for you not the other.
Similarily when the Katha of Baba nanak going to read the koran with a muslim, but didn't because the muslim himself wasn't reading the koran instead his mind was else where in his horses or whatevr. Such katha is generally taken towards trying to say the 'muslim' was inept in doing prayer with Baba Nanak, but hardly ever is the question raised towards the 'Sikhs'. So I ask thsoe Sikhs, if Baba Nanak came today to would he join you in your padth/Simran/Jap?
I agree totally. This first-person system allows a real bond between the Guru and the true devotee. The devotee is able to put themselves in the picture of a relationship with God, and therefore the basis of the relationship of a true devotee is made clear ( Not sure if that makes any sense outside of my own mind lol).
Also an excellent point about application of the Guru's words to your own life. It's seems crazy that by merely hearing/reading the shabads we get a sense of superiority of mind than others, and we look to criticise their actions. In reality, having knowledge of the words of Guru Ji without applying them to our lives leaves us in a worse position than those who we like to think of as ignorant of the Truth. The same pitfalls exist for all of humanity, and knowledge of these pitfalls is useless unless something is done to adress the actual issues they raise.

The rather unconventional writing styles appear to be identical. For instance no spaces after a full stop. Yey another member of the re-name themselves and return after saying they'll never post again crew. Really, the system is getting quite tiresome.
You know, after this thread, I've gotten into this Osho thing, and have been doing quite a bit of reading. It was suggested we should not judge him on this extract but rather do some wider reading etc. That I did, and perhaps as suggested it is a matter of style of communication, but the guy's works do absolutely nothing for me, although it is amusing the way they display a distinct air of "oooh, look at me and how better I am than everyone else"
Quite bluntly, the guy seemed to be a right annoying git, always bigging himself up and putting others down, and thinking everyone in the world wanted to worship him. What a T*****, I'd tell him to his face, but he's kinda dead innit, so guess I can't. Darn how i yearn for the darshan of this fellow, he could EVEN teach me a thing or two about being egotistical.

I am aware of that- thats what i mean- u have to use your weaker hand to drive. or leg when that too is unavailable. Get one of those American cars with the steering the other way around. Get a Dodge Viper or something.

We have all sorts of extremists spouting filth in all sorts of places. Its part and parcel of life. Just as violence-inciting extremists would be of concern to you, similarly there are other types that are of concern to other people.

So this guy killed innocent people, raped women and I also read the articles now where it says he he used to make Amritdhari people drink his urine saying you have tasted Gobind Singh's Amrit, now taste Gobind Ram's amrit. isnt khalistan a state of mind??? ther is no room for politics in sikhi! khalistan is sum1 winning their mind not a country. it doesnt make sense to say we will have khalistan. gurus taught us to live like a lilly.(its a lilly isnt it?lol.i werent sure) We have to live with society and its maya bt we stand out from it. plus how can we rule a country. we can't even get on amougest ourselves.

Very sorry to hear about your loss, and I hope the posts above have gone some way in helping you make some sense of something which is undoubtedly going to be difficult to come to terms with. Ultimately, at times like this, we are left solely with the knowledge that the master puts us on this Earth, and he in his own wisdom decides when he wants us to return to him.
I pray you are given the strength to deal with this, and can eventually come to terms with the loss.

Some say that spme of the Sau Sakhis were a tool employed by the British to win the loyalty of Sikhs, and in response to this tool, counter Sakhis were created.

In response to my comment, I meant that it has been argued that not all the Sakhis are from Guru Nanak Ji's time, as some could have been distorted throughout history by the British, Namdharis etc. In this manner, the Sakhis as we see them today do not neccesarilly date to the time of Guru Nanak if we are to espouse the forementioned notion of changes.

Some say that a few of the Sau Sakhis were created as tool for the British to manintain the loyalty of Sikhs, and in response to this tool, counter Sakhis were created by Anti-British forces.
In this way, it can be argued that some of the Sakhis are merely propoganda forwarded by both British and Anti-British elements. I guess the suggestion is that if you give people hope, they tend to lose their instinct to be critical. Interestingly, Namdharis often use the some of these dubious Sakhis to back their belief in a living Guru.

The refrence to ancient caravan routes reminded me of something. Are there not a group of Gypsies in Western Europe who have been there for many centuries and claim they are originally from Northern India? I think they are called Romas or something to that extent. (Not that this observation is in any way linked to what is being discussed here, just in light of the hypothesis, it may suggest that routes further into Europe possibly did exist.)
