  1. Hi people

From what I've seen the queue system works much better in certain gurdwaras. Also in smaller gurdwarras or when there isn't much sangat yes it is nice to be served langar but it is equally as lovely humbly waiting in turn for gurujis food which is lovingly served by sevadars. It doesn't matter how its served either way its about the love and selfless service and humbleness.

Also in my experience a smaller sangat is able to cope with and keep track of the sangat and able to see who needs water etc and serve the sangat properly.

With a larger sangat this is virtually impossible and also by the time say the daal comes around, the sangat may have finished their subji which was served before hand, paani may be served after the langar is finished, people may be overlooked and maybe even perceived to already have eaten. Different sangat coming at different times in great numbers makes it very difficult to serve properly. Godbless the sevadars that stand on their feet for hours lovingly serving langar to waiting sangat.

  2. Lol no they'd more likely think he's wearing a bandana which he could actually wear.

The whole muslim ship sailed long ago when America wikipedia'ed him after he was elected only to find their muslim fighting hero's midde name is Hussein! Lol.

The real reason: He's so corrupt and evil the sanctity of the place would blind him. And people worship him like an idol, it's mad.

Why give so much importance to a mortals like obama? If he doesn't want to come its his bad karams!

    ^^I agree with you!

  3. Dreams can have a huge effect on us but only if we let them. Gurbani says that the world is an illusion and when we sleep and dream the illusion increases. Less sleep means less illusion, and little sleep is prescribed in gurbani.

Dreams of god or anything to do with sikhi are good and worth remembering because they equate with truth.

I have had dreams of the deaths of every single one of my family members in my life time and dreams where i've been slandered to the ground and have felt depressed all day long. Now I wake up and if the dream is depressing I remind myself it was just a dream, do morning paath and focus on guruji one pointedly and the dream is usually forgotten. The longer you dwell on a dream the more you'll prob remember it so try and put it out of your mind the minute you wake up and focus on god.

Don't dwell on a fake illusory dream existence, focus on god who is truth.

p.s If I took my dreams literally I'd be an orphan and a psychopath who talks to coats. And don't try those dream dictionaries either because they're full of rubbish!

  4. Waheguru ji ka khalsa

    Waheguru ji ki fateh

    Happy Birthday ji,

    Check out your gift at

    http://www.sikhicards.com/birthday.php

What you are planning is just great !

would only advice that you contemplate and follow that Hukum throughout the day and receive WAHEGURU jeeo's true blessing.

    Waheguru ji ka khalsa

    Waheguru ji ki fateh

Man I hate it when my birthday comes around, I feel uncomfortable being the centre of attention! But paath sounds good for a birthday, to put the focus on babaji instead of oneself.

  5. ^^I agree, I really like this bit

Just to make Sikhi fit into our lives we look for excuses or reasons and explain aspects of Sikhi differently...Heart of hearts, everyone knows the true answer... because Maharaaj resides in each... if we ask our aathma, is it ok eat this egg, we will know the answer... again, in a situation of war, depending on circumstances, if we ask our aathma, is it ok to eat meat.. we will gagain know the right answer... it all depends on whether we want to listen or not....
  6. I say all sikhs should boycott Virgin Active Gyms worldwide until sikhs are allowed in with kirpans. A facebook group should be set up spreading this message and a petition signed to overturn this rule.

If it's not overturned, they'll be losing a lot of business, sikhs all over the world are getting fit and healthy to be able to better focus on paath and naam and the loss of business might hit them abit.

  7. Lol alot of ravidassiyas want to be called ravidassiyas just as many sikhs like to be called jatts.

We're stuck in a self created situation which directly contradicts our very heritage and ancestors. We've become like different races with different names(castes).

I believe the poster was calling them ravidassiyas as a way of identifying them, kind of like how on equal opportunities forms people are divided into categories like black, white, Indian(not brown), chinese and all the rest of it or in criminal situations where a suspect is described as caucasion, black or oriental looking.

But yeh saying a few ravidassiyas would have been better because people are gonna take it as a discriminatory or derogatory remark.

Having said that, as sikhi shuns the caste system I'll say that anyone who has a problem with someone identifying an individual as a ravidassiya jatt or any other caste needent because the only people offended will be those who identify themselves with a caste.

If someone calls me a jatt or a silly jatt I wont respond because although my family are jatt, I wont take on that title- I'm a sikh.

  8. some somlians etc also wear kind of keski thing too.

also maybe while wearing dastaar you should also wear traditional clothes otherwise u may get mistaken with your western clothes.

There are many variations of the turban, but any tightish head covering is sufficient in sikhi. And western clothes are fine, just not ones that are very revealing for a singhinee.

  9. If you don't agree with what they're putting up on their website then you should keep your morals and values in tact and stop them posting your work, or it would be a tiny little bit like me allowing rss hindus post my sikh writings on their website.

But only you can decide, if you feel in your heart that its wrong to allow them to put your stuff up then ask them not to.

  10. I have been very depressed for a long time now, a few incidents towards the end of last year which made it even worse. I can't snap out of it, my mind thinks very negatively and I can't seem to change no matter how hard I try. I read gurbani and go Gurdwara regularly but I still can't change. Those incidents have hit me hard and I can't seem to get them off my mind. I don't know what to do anymore.

Excercise, do cardio, running jumping jacks running on teh spot etc, then do naam jaap straight after. Ecercise is well known to lift depression, just keep it up and do abiut every time youre feeling upset but naam japp done sincerely really helps, relax and do it.

  11. if someone makes you feel bad for following gurmat, they are bad sangat to be around. doesn't matter how good a friend they are, doesn't matter if they claim to respect that you're into sikhi. look at their actions and how they make you feel, does it match up with their words?

i had similar friends, i slowly distanced myself from them and felt much better and progressed more in sikhi.

btw, depression or not, the one sending u on guilt trips is using manipulation. be careful around people like that.

    Okay thanks for your help,

also sorry to ask another question, what about family? I mean I aviod certain members of my family as much as possible b/c I cant stand their vibes and know they dont want me to be into sikhi. Innately I feel like they dont want me to progress. I dont feel peace even being in the same house as them.I just want to know if this is wrong as we're meant to live a householders life, but some of them are just so into kaljug that I cant stand it.

  12. Nindyia

'I am better then you' attitude

The moment a person logs on to a discussion forum, they get filled with this sense of power because no one can know the real them and they can be whoever they want to be. A person that is horrible in real life, the internet can make them sound like they are sweetest most genuine person on Earth. The sweetest person can turn into the worst person. It is the weirdest thing, it's like the fake id, turns us into a fake person. Some of us start off on the internet with a good purpose, wanting to learn more about Sikhi but it does not take long for us to lose sight of that purpose. Today on any given medium of discussion, Sikhs have resorted to Nindyia to uplift themselves. It is no longer about learning, about becoming a better person; it is about being right at any cost. To prove ourselves right we resort to nindyia of the opposite sex, different groups of Sikhs and other religions.

The moment any one mentions the weakening state of Sikhi, the blame game starts between the Singhs and the Kaurs. The Singhs feel that it's because women aren't teaching the children the right morals and are marrying non-Sikhs. The Kaurs feel that it's because the Singhs aren't taking a stance and staying firm in their Sikh and granting equal rights as stated in Sikhi. Both the Singhs and the Kaurs are right, we have examples to prove both right in our community. But that's not the point. This matter could be solved and we could be working towards a stronger Sikhi community, if we worked together. But no we aren't working together; we aren't even talking about the issues. Every time any issue comes up, we started dragging the other sex down, to make ourselves look better. We need to look past the gender and state that we have an issue and work together as a team to fix it.

Sikhs are lucky to have so many groups that work so hard to help us become better people, better Sikhs. We are lucky to have them but we are unlucky that they don't collaborate together to make Sikhi stronger. They work with Sikhs as individuals and not with Sikhs as a whole. Our Sikh organizations need to get on the same page and set standards for the Sikhi community as a whole, so no one can divide us. But they don't do that and frustrated members of different organizations are constantly doing nindyia of one another. It seems every organization has a problem with one practice or another of the other one and vice versa. Individual Sikhs need to rise above nindiya of one another and focus on the positive sides. If you do have a problem with how a particular Sikh does something, have a discussion with them on that practice, without accusing and 9 out of 10 times you probably can find something to agree on that would solve the problem. Doing nindyia or accusing people or groups will get us nowhere and that unwanted practice will just grow. Nindyia divides our community, talking things out and mutual respect brings our community together. Let us stop nindiya based on what group the Sikh belongs and focus on uniting all Sikhs.

Nindyia not only divides us as a community but also diminishes our standing amongst other religions of the worlds. In a recent trend that can be seen online on most discussion forums, Sikhs have started resorting to doing nindyia of different religions to try and make Sikhism look better. But in their attempts to make Sikhism look better, they are taking away from the creditability of Sikhism. I believe in two golden rules: 1. if someone does against something against Sikhs, confront them, don't talk behind their back and 2. If someone has an issue in their religion that has nothing to do with Sikhism, ignore it, there are enough issues to deal with Sikhism. In both scenarios there is no need to do nindyia because Sikhism should be above it and is above it. Sikhism is a great religion on its own and can stand strong without putting anyone down. As Sikhs we should have the guts to deal with issues heads on and have the knowledge not to put down the traditions of different religions. That's what being a saint-soldier is all about.

To be a true Saint-Soldier we must avoid nindiya of the opposite sex, other Sikhs/ Sikhs groups and other religions. Many times amidst doing nindiya, you'll find Sikhs asking why the people in the wrong are in chardikala and the good Sikhs struggling. It is because instead of confronting the issue, we talked bad and took their sins on our heads. Every time we talk bad about someone we are washing away their sins. The people in the wrong are usually too busy to give a hoot about us, that leaves us filled with our sins and the sins we took on by doing nindyia of others. With so much sins we take on unnecessarily, how are we supposed to stay in chardikala? Stop doing Nindiya, look within yourself and watch your life improve.

Sikh Panth chardikala, here we come!

Most of your post was nindya. I'm also a nindak, we all are, only the True saints and our gurus are not and we must look within guru granth sahib ji for guidance. That should be our preaching. When we are imperfect ourselves who are we to judge, we do not get that luxury, only those who have truly earned it do.

1)Par ninḏā par mal mukẖ suḏẖī agan kroḏẖ cẖandāl.

Slandering others is putting the filth of others into your own mouth. The fire of anger is the outcaste who burns dead bodies at the crematorium.

2)So gurmukẖ nām japi▫ā vadbẖāgī ṯin ninḏak ḏusat sabẖ pairī pā▫e.

Very fortunate and blessed is that Gurmukh who chants the Naam; it shall bring all slanderers and wicked enemies to fall at his feet.

In light of number 2 quote from gurbani, the only way to handle slanderers is to chant the naam.

We need to believe in naam, it means Truth is His name, it is satnam and it is the only boat that will carry us across in this dark age of kalyug.

This is the definition of a true saint:

    ਅਸਟਪਦੀ

    असटपदी ॥

    Asatpaḏī.

    Ashtapadee:

    ਮਿਥਿਆ

    मिथिआ नाही रसना परस ॥

    One whose tongue does not touch falsehood;

    ਮਨ

    Man mėh parīṯ niranjan ḏaras.

whose mind is filled with love for the Blessed Vision of the Pure Lord,

Par ṯari▫a rūp na pekẖai neṯar.

whose eyes do not gaze upon the beauty of others' wives,

    ਸਾਧ

    साध की टहल संतसंगि हेत ॥

    Sāḏẖ kī tahal saṯsang heṯ.

who serves the Holy and loves the congregation of saints,

    ਕਰਨ

    करन न सुनै काहू की निंदा ॥

Karan na sunai kāhū kī ninḏā.

whose ears do not listen to slander against anyone,

    ਸਭ

    सभ ते जानै आपस कउ मंदा ॥

Sabẖ ṯe jānai āpas ka▫o manḏā.

who deems himself to be the worst of all,

    ਗੁਰ

    गुर प्रसादि बिखिआ परहरै ॥

    Gur parsāḏ bikẖi▫ā parharai.

who, by Guru's Grace, renounces corruption,

    ਮਨ

Man kī bāsnā man ṯe tarai.

who banishes the mind's evil desires from his mind,

    ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ

    इंद्री जित पंच दोख ते रहत ॥

Inḏrī jiṯ pancẖ ḏokẖ ṯe rahaṯ.

who conquers his sexual instincts and is free of the five sinful passions -

or google Bhavekhath purana and loads will come up. This isn't the only prediction in the puranas, others can be found in the Rig Veda, Vishnu Purana, Yujar veda, Dhigvajeh Purana and the sage Patanjali says abit aswell. Thinking about it though I'm not sure how much of it's genuine so i'm gna delve into it abit. If anyone can let me know for sure if these are true then i'd appreciate it, I stumbled acoss these websites a few days ago.

  14. Yes sikhi is different to Sanatan Dharma and would RSS Hindus like to know why?

Here's the reason taken from their own scriptures:

In the BHAVEKHATH PURANA "Baavekhath" means "future foretelling". There are numerous places in this famous Hindu epic where the advant of Guru NANAK is directly alluded to. These instances are listed hereunder -

"Guru thaa Brahma, Guru raa Vishnu, Guru raa dev maheshra saakhyaar Parbrehem Thasmei NANAK nameh" meaning

"The Guru of the prophets, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv ji is God almighty himself. This very Creator will manifest itself as a human, in the form of one whose name will be
    NANAK

I think this answers most questions in the article.

  15. i wonder the same.....ppl say 'its really bad now' .... but hasn't it a;ways been like this, i mean in sikhi the masands were raping, looting etc just like modern masands now, in the wider world what is happening now has always been happening has it not?

No it's definately getting worse, Most of it is behind the scenes now. And theres more black magic and horrific activities going on in the world than most people can comprehend, esp in western countries.

  16. You need to keep your head up high and rely on god to give you strength, be proud to have the creator of the whole world on your side, . In your life as you become more religious you'll see bad traits in even your closest friends and some people let these get them down, but don;t focus on these, understand that even these people have are on the same path as you and have gods light in them, they just deny it, and when they die, they'll be punished badly for the bad things they've said against the One who made them. Don't be upset by what they say, pity them because you've chosen the right path and god will be with you all the way if you think of him.

When you think of god/ the guru, hes there no matter what, your thoughts are very powerful. Do paath, do naam jaap. You've been blessed to be so wise for your age, In these times, you are one in a million, most kids don't spare a moment to think about god, and only think about playstation, friends, food etc. Lol so keep being amazing and keep your head up high and have faith in your creator, because a person with god on their side can't be hurt by anything unless they stop believing god is protecting them.

You should have ultimate confidence, sikhs are warriors, both in the mind and on the battlefield, when we used to come on the battlefield grown men would scream and run in fear, so stop your bad thoughts when they come and think of god, read Guru Granth Sahib Ji and make sure you understand it properly or you won't get very far!

Good luck and god bless you.

  17. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

Firstly we would like to apologise.

These interns from Europe are working as Seva and are NOT PAID, and Mr Bal provides free accommodation for them AT HIS OWN COST, but you have a good point about dress and we WILL sort this out.

We are looking for Sikh brothers and sisters who would give some time to Sikh Channel and help us. If you know anyone and anyone who has experience in media then please contact us. Sikh Channel has its doors open to all our Sikhs brothers and sisters.. If we can get camera and technical people then we wouldn't need interns.

Cool. And while we've got you on here, what's your stance on the Gravesend Gurdwarra meat issue, Have you guys covered that on the Sikh Channel yet Because it's a wayyy bigger issue than this.

Everyone knows there should not even have been a vote on it because it is such a disgusting idea.

  18. Look god loves you and so do we, all your fellow sikh brothers and sisters!! happy.gif

Stay active and come meet us at the gurdwarra, spend as much time with us as you want to, we're always there to talk to when things get tough and we'll stand by your side!xxx
