  1. Story of the Wise Sage Many years ago, a king ruled over a large kingdom. He was a pious king. He ruled wisely and fairy. His kingdom was flourishing. His subjects were honest and kind. There was everything in the kingdom that a king could aspire for. His subjects loved and respected him. However, the king was not happy. The cause of his unhappiness was his son, the future king of the kingdom. The prince was brought up with great love and care. As a result, he had turned into an ill-mannered and irresponsible lad. He did not respect his father. Neither did he possess any quality that a prince did he possess. He was cruel to the subject and showed disrespect even to his teachers. The king was greatly worried about him. Years passed and the prince showed no signs of improvement. The king was growing old. He worried about the future of his kingdom. One day, he heard about a wise, old sage. He decided to take the prince to him. The sage asked the king to leave the prince under his care for some days. Leaving his son with the sage, the king went back to his kingdom. The sage observed the prince for a few days. One day, he called the prince to him and said, “Dear prince, the young ‘Neem’ plant that you see over there, is full of wisdom. Please go and pluck some of its leaves and eat them. You will then become as wise as your father. Then you will not get any scolding from him and everybody will respect you as they respect your father”. The prince obeyed the sage. He plucked some leaves. Hardly had he bit the leaves that he started vomiting. He grew angry and said, “The leaves are very bitter. You told me that they are full of wisdom. How could you make me eat such bitter leaves? These leaves cannot contain any wisdom; I must destroy the plant, so that no other person ever tastes it again”. So saying, the prince pulled out the plant and threw it into the nearby river. The sage smiled said, “Dear prince, you have destroyed this plant because it was bitter. Just think about the bitterness inside you. Your father is such a gentle and kind king. Everybody loves and respect him. But he is worried because he thinks that his kingdom will not flourish much under you. You have made more enemies than friends. You have no sweetness in your voice. Your enemies will uproot your kingdom, as you have uprooted this plant. Therefore, you should try to mend your ways and learn to be kind and just like your father. Be polite and learn to obey your elders. You are the future king. You should try to uproot all the bitterness that is there in your nature. Otherwise your kingdom will be ruined and you will be blamed for it”. The prince understood the wise words of the sage. He realized his mistakes and resolved to mend his ways. He bowed down at the sage’s feet and said,” O Holy one, from today onwards, I will not give my father a cause to worry. You have shown me a true path. I shall try to become a just and kind king as my father”. So from that day, the prince mended his ways. He became a dutiful person ruled his kingdom fairly and wisely.
  2. The Donkey and the Load of Salt Long ago there lived a merchant. He used to deal in salt. He had a donkey to carry load. He used to sell his salt loaded on the donkey. He had to cross a stream to go to other village. Once his donkey fell into the stream and much of the salt was dissolved in water. The donkey easily crossed the stream due to the light weight of salt on his back. The donkey was happy. The donkey on his next trip knowingly fell into the stream. The merchant suspected the animal's intention. On the other day too the donkey intentionally repeated the same trick. His master was now sure about the animal's evil intention. The merchant next day loaded the donkey with a lot of cotton. The donkey once again repeated the same trick. He fell into the stream. This time his load became very heavy. The donkey carried the heavy load. It was very tiring for him to move on. The donkey now realized his mistake. He stopped falling down into the stream any more. He thought that it was not good to play tricks. The merchant had taught the donkey a good lesson. Moral: You can befool a person a few times but not always.
  3. The Slave and the Lion A rich man had a slave. The man was very cruel to him. So the slave became sick of his cruel treatment. He decided to run away from his master. He got a chance and ran away to a forest. There he hid himself in a cave. As he lay there thinking, he heard the groaning of the lion. He was frightened. As the lion came near, he saw that he was limping. The lion approached the slave and held out his paw. The slave saw that his paw was swollen and a thorn was stuck in it. The slave drew out the thorn very gently. The lion was relieved of pain and went away. Afterwards they became friends. By chance the slave was arrested by his master's men. He was brought to his master who ordered his men to put him before a hungry lion. The day for punishment was fixed. The people of the town were invited to see the wonderful fight. The lion was freed from the cage to pounce upon the slave when he recognized him. He now advanced slowly towards him and began to lick his hands out of love. It was the same lion, his friend. The slave too, patted him. It was a wonderful sight for the people. The lion was given to him as a reward. The slave was set free. Moral: Kindness is always rewarded.
  4. The Hidden Treasure There lived a farmer in the village. He had five sons. They were all idlers and never helped their father. They always quarreled among themselves. The father was very much sad and worried. He tried his level best to mend their habits but all in vain. Once he was taken ill. He called his sons. All of them reached there. He asked them to sit down and listen to him carefully. The old father said, "My dear sons, I am weak and ill. I may die any moment. There is a lot of money hidden in our fields but I have forgotten where I had buried it. Dig that treasure out after my death." The farmer died after two days. The sons dug every inch of the tend but could not find anything. As the field was well ploughed some old man advised them to sow wheat in that. They had a very good crop. By selling the wheat they got a lot of money. Now they understood what their father meant. It was really the hidden treasure. From that day they worked hard and lived a happy life. Moral: No pains, no gains.

  7. Brother singhbj singh, I will not go into depth as I do not see the need, for the verses of Kabeer Jee are direct and simple. You see we all know, Wahiguru is present everywhere, but that His presence as such is not of much avail for us, cause though He is within us also, we do not see Him. It is only when we do His simran, we are carried within those subtle spiritual realms, where we can see His Jot in full refulgence and hear His sweet divine voice, for as the Bani says: Amrit Bani Har Har Teyree. Outer Amrit is had through mouth, but the inner Amrit Bani, is heard by the soul, as we all know, Wahiguru is known Satnam or Shabad also. So here Bhagat Kabeer Jee is saying, if I ever die, let me be at that time engaged in His Bhakti, for it is the only vehicle which transports me to that realm, or call it His door, His Darbar, where I can have His Darshan and listen His sweet amritful voice. Also when we are conscious of the world we are unconscoius of the reality within, while if we are within, we are dead to the world and its paraphernalia, so Bhagat Kabeer Jee is saying, He wishes to die at His door, means, dead for the world, but much alive spiritually in the inner realms. Also see the true humility of this Bhagat, for we all know, nobody can reach Him, without His kirpa, yet from his words, he is telling us, he is such a sinner, that in fear, he says he hopes, He does not ask : who is lying at my door? Sangat Jee, even the lying at His door, it is by His Hukum only, it is now just a matter to time to enter inside. For if He has brought us till His door, He wants us to enter, and not for rejecting, as mostly we manmukhs falsely do with our fellow beings. I am not saying with this my reply I am 100%right, but it is my personal view, though the Sangat here is quite wise and can also give their respectable opinions. Sat Sree Akal.
  8. Pen Jee, the words above are not mine, rather the words of Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj, Wahiguru Akal Purukh Himself. Please have no doubt in them. You see, by His Bachan, even stones are ferried across, so what to say about us hopeless, weak, and heavy sinners. When you do His Simran, just dissolve yourself in it, that is the correct method, then you shall see for yourself, how His kirpa embraces and protects you at all times and places. He will be "ang sang" with you, then who will dare to trouble you? Not even Kal Purukh, nor his yam doots, neither mind nor the chors. All these are the summary of darkness, and if one is in the presence of the fountain of all Jot, namely Wahiguru, naturally darkness, can never ever be there, it is only when we turn our backs to Him, that the darkness surrounds us. That is why, the Bani says to do His simran/bhakti, aath pahaer, while walking, working, waiting, eating, drinking...at all times, as much s possible, for we have to drown the mind deep into His Simran, then only will the mind be purified from all its impurities. Prabh Ka Simran man kee mael jaae. God bless you. Sat Sree Akal.

    Varth

Varth as fasting, will only help to make our organism work fine, as it works 24 hours 7 days, it needs a break also as all machines do need. In hinduism or maybe in other religions also, it is done to please the gods, in addition to other forms of worship, from whom one may receive some type of rewards, that´s it, though all this is being stuck in maya, very much in the cycle of 84. Purity, divinity, gyan, at its peak, is only in Wahiguru and His Saacha Nao, and it is only in His devotion Guru Sahiban, and Bhagat Jan, as per Bani, tell us to give our love and bhakti. If ever, we have to fast to become better human beings, let us regularly fast on our weaknesses, which are malice, avarice, jealousy, hatred, falsehood, ego, anger, desires, anger....until we one day are able to totally erradictae them from our within. It is not easy to achieve that state of purity, but nevertheless we should keep trying, and keep knocking at His door for His kirpa, His forgiveness, for all our huge gathered piles of filth(sins) within us since we left His darbar, and stepped into this mayavee creation. Sat Sree Akal.
  10. Pen Jee it is indeed very good what you do by doing Nitnem. But if you or anyone wants to get rid of the panj chor, try what Guru Jee is telling us in His following verse: ਰਸਨਾ ਸਚਾ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ Rasanaa Sachaa Simareeai Man Than Niramal Hoe || With your tongue, repeat the True Name, and your mind and body shall become pure. Sri Raag, Guru Arjan Dev. *Guru Jee says: if you repeat His Name, the panj chor shall be expelled out, as they are deep rooted within, and with the jaap of His Name, they feel very uncomfortable, as they can not stand its purity, so they leave away, only thus we remain cool and peaceful. Though you say, you are affected by three chors, the fact is, the other 2 are still hidden within, it is just a matter of time to be stung by them, so why not spray the perfume of His Name and get rid of all of them for once and forever. Pen Jee, there is no other antidote to fight them, so use the sword of His Name as suggested by Guru Jee, and get rid of these chors. True are His bachans, all other methods are useless. God bless you. Sat Sree Akal.

Dhhur Karam Jinaa Ko Thudhh Paaeiaa Thaa Thinee Khasam Dhhiaaeiaa || Only on those, whose karma You have pre-ordained from the very beginning, O Lord, they meditate on You. Raag Aasaa , Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj
  12. God´s wonders. A very poor woman with a small family called - into a radio station for help from God. A non believer man who also listening to the program, decided to make fun of the woman. He got her address, called his secretary and ordered her to buy a large amount of foodstuffs and take it to the woman. However he sent it with the following instructions : When the woman asks for who sent the food, tell her it was from the devil. It was late afternoon when the secretary arrived at the woman´s house bringing all the foodstuff. The woman was so grateful for the help that was received. Don´t you want to know who sent the foods? The secretary asked. The woman said, just say thank you, to whomever sent these. As I do not care who the person is, because I know, when God orders, even the devil obeys.

  14. MARRIAGE BOX Most people get married beleiving a myth that marriage is a beautiful box full of all thinghs they longed for. friendship, companionship, intimacy, etc. The truth is that marriage is an empty box at the start. You must put in something, before you can take anything out. There is no love in marriage. Love is in people. And people put love in marriage. There is no romance in marriage. You have to infuse it into your marriage. A couple must learn the art and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, praising, keeping the box full. If you take out more than you put in, the box will be empty.
