  1. Human values One day, I was so angry, that I left home, swearing not to return, till I became a big guy. Parents, who can't even buy me a Bike, have no rights to dream to make me an Engineer. In my fit of anger, I didn't even realise that I was wearing my father's Shoes. I even stole his wallet, which had some papers, torn as well, which my mother hadn't seen... While, I was rushing on foot towards the bus station, I realised some prickly pain in my foot. I also felt dampness inside the shoe. That is when I realised the shoe had a hole underneath. There were no buses around. Not knowing what to do, I started to look in my Dad's wallet. I found a loan receipt of Rs. 40,000, which he had taken from his office. A laptop bill (he had bought for me). To my utter shock, also found a letter from his manager to wear a neat looking shoes, henceforth to the office. I remembered my mother pestering him to buy a pair of new shoes, but he would convince her that his shoes would last another six months atleast. Also, found an old scooter to a new bike, Exchange offer letter in his wallet. I instantly remembered, that when I left home, my Dad's scooter was not there. I started feeling weak in my legs, and felt like weeping uncontrollably!. I ran back home with my foot paining, only to find my Dad nor the scooter there. I found him at the exchange offer place. Looking at my Dad, my grief engulfed me. I hugged him tightly and started crying loudly, said "Dad I don't need the Bike". That is when I realised, the pain, hardship our parents go through, and the unconditional love that they give us. Ridiculing parents when they are alive, and longing for them when they are not around, has no meaning.. Kindly tell this story to your children to help them identify and develop human values in them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What happens when a guest comes to your house They come and go You don't become THEM You might adjust a little but you don't let them run your life Similarly... Treat sadness anger and misery as guests..don't let them become YOU Sadness is visiting.... You don't have to be SAD Misery is visiting... You don't have to be MISERABLE Anger is visiting... You don't have to become ANGRY Let these visitors visit.. It's natural... But treat them on a come and go basis Like all negative visitors.... They will stop visiting when you don't feed them too much... They will stop visiting when you don't become THEM..!
  2. Pen Jee, you need not to worry, you are pure at heart and mind. It is true what you say, karam is important, as it is karam which produces "phal", "fruit", destiny. But is by dharam/religion, that we do take the correct steps in doing the right karam, and in this matter, I can proudly say, Sikhi /Bhakti cleanses our chit, then only we perform the right karam. Regarding those who you say, that inspite of being amritdharis, they still commit sins, it is due to their limitations and ignorance. Gurbani is there to get the most precious spiritual wealth and become pure paviter, but if we do not follow the karam of bhakti, as adivised by our Guru Sahiban, how can anyone become "pure, paviter" ? There are many religious people in different dharams, but Sikhi exceedes all, as it is the only path which reunites us with our origin, namely, Wahiguru Akal Purukh, through utter faith and love at His Lotus feet..
  3. Whether one willingly causes a car accident, or accidentally, in both cases, the cars/vehicles, get damaged. Attention and awareness, are the tools to be used, in order to avoid accidents in any fields. Wahiguru has given us buddhi and chit, let us use them in a practical manner. Sat Sree Akal.

  5. What can meditation do? An old Farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early morning and sat for meditation. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, “Grandpa! I try to meditate just like you but thoughts disturb me, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I come out of meditation. What good does meditation do?” The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, “Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.” The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, “You’ll have to move a little faster next time,” and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, “I don’t want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You’re just not trying hard enough,” and he went out the door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, “See Grandpa, it’s useless!” “So you think it is useless?” The old man said, “Look at the basket.” The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket to now clean, inside and out. “Son, that’s what happens when you meditate. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you meditate every day, thoughts starts to diminish, like dirty coal basket transformed to clean, in same way you tend to be pure, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Meditation in our lives. Never give up spiritual practice. By doing spiritual practice daily all heaviness and unnecessary things tend to fall and you start feeling light. This is the indication that you are evolving. Slowly you will feel peace and calmness within you. Instead of reacting you start responding."
  6. 1) If we are bhoolanhaar, then He, is also Sadbhakshanhaar 2) Yes He will surely forgive, but that does not mean, after Him forgiving us, we cheat on him, and keep on repeating our mistakes again and again. 3) Talk to them straight forwardlywith humility and honesty, just as adults should do. Do sincere Ardaas to Wahiguru, to give you strength,so that you may not blacken your faces again by falling shamelessly into kaam. You are seeing the effects by yourselves, of falling prey to kaam vaasnas, it made you fall, and now it is creating a heavy sense of guilty within you and restlesness. Marriage does not mean, getting free license to give total freedom to kaam. Marriage means, to have a control our kaam vaasnas, which otherwise is quite a difficult task, and means also deep respect and love for our spouse, otherwise what is the difference between us and the animals, then also, after being human beings, we are sikhs too. So keeping Guru Jee in mind at all times, we should fulfill our relations with all, including spouses, and not degrading ourselves to those of subhuman species of lower levels of consciousness. God bless you. Sat Sree Akal.
  7. Common sense is not a gift, It is a punishment. because you have to deal with everyone who does not have it
  8. Bad words and bad moods Don´t mix bad words with bad mood. Cause one will have many opportunities to change one´s moods, but one will rarely get a opportunity, to replace the bad words one speaks.
  9. Right attitude. A person once went for an interview, in a very reputed Company. While entering the room, he slipped and fell on the ground. Documents scattered all over the place. One might think of being humiliated. The man picked himself up. And with a smile on his face he spoke out loudly: "Finally, I have fallen into the right place !" He was hired the very next moment. A negative happening also can be converted into positive, if we develop right attitude.
  10. COURAGE When I arrived to have my legs amputated, I was wearing bright purple nail polish on my feet. Might as well go out in style, I figured. A month had passed since my right arm decided to auto-amputate, just dropping off into my brother-in-law’s hands. A few months before that, my left arm had been amputated as well. Now it was time to move on. I had been a successful 32-year-old, doing well at work, happily married and newly pregnant. I was just back from a vacation in Cambodia and reveling in ticking one off the bucket list when I fell sick with a fever. It all began rather innocently. And then it escalated, and how. Fever became organ failure. Organ failure became a brush with death. Months later, I had lost both my arms and legs to a bacterial infection that the doctor had heard of only in his exam. I raged. I was angry and hurt and upset. Why did this happen to me? What had I done wrong? I thought it was karma, but I couldn’t think of anything I had done this wrong. But finally, I decided it was time to move on. And so I ran. In the beginning, it was just to lose weight and get fit, but the challenge was addictive. When I run, I feel like I win over my body. I can look back at Destiny and swear at how wrong it was about me. It didn’t win. I still get to call the shots. My life, my decisions, my dreams; limbs or no limbs. Author : Shalini Saraswathi
  11. Question: What is the best advice your mother ever gave you? Answer By Jonathan Pettit I was about ten. My mom had just finished creating one of her amazing meals, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Delicious. Later, as I was washing the dishes, my mom came up to me. “Sorry dinner was so awful again,” she said. I was shocked. “What? No, it was great. I loved it.” “Really?” she said, with mock surprise. “You always eat so quietly, never saying anything. You’ve never told me you liked my cooking, so I thought you hated it.” “No, you’re the best cook I know.” “Then you should tell me that,” she said. “Whenever someone does something nice for you, you should thank that person. If you don’t, then she might think she’s not appreciated and stop doing those nice things.” Something clicked right then. From that day forward, I thanked everyone for literally everything. If you did something that even vaguely helped me, I thanked you profusely. It became a habit, something I didn’t even think about, and that’s when the magic started happening. People liked me more. They talked to me more, shared with me, were more friendly. In my first year of high school, during the final week, I came home and found a giant freezie (a kind of sweet frozen snack) waiting for me. “Thanks, mom,” I said instinctively. “This isn’t from me, she said. “This is from your bus driver.” He had been driving that bus for years, and my siblings and I were the first people to ever thank him as we got dropped off. Those two simple words made a huge difference, so much so that he went out of his way to tell our mom and give us a present. That’s the power of appreciation. When you have it, all is right in the world, but when it’s missing life is empty. My mom taught me many things, but taking two seconds to say ‘thank you’ every time, in any situation, was the best. Debriefing of this Story You would have met people who call themselves as good critics but have you ever a person who says I am good at appreciating others? Isn't that a sad part of our society? Let's start appreciating people more frequently especially people who are close to us.
  12. You are absolutely right. You are not offering anything about something acheived by you. You are just saying: hey men and women, of this mayavee creation, I have seen the apaar wadeeayee of the Bani of our Guru Sahiban, which has the key solution to reunite yourselves with Wahiguru Akal Purukh Himself, and I invite you to come and benefit from the unqueanchable spiritual wealth from it, if you go deeper in it and by applying it in a practical way in your lives: bhakti of Akal Purukh. I do not see any ego in this your attitude, but being a well wisher to your fellow beings. Sat Sree Akal.
  13. Well brother, I follow your point, which is praise worthy, as you want to share goodness experienced/perceived by you, for others. The thing is, each one has his/her own time of maturity. It is not like sowing the seeds now, and seeing the fruit inmediately. Each one is at a different conscious level, though physically we may seem alike, with little or more diferences, but the essence lies within each one. Many of us go through the Bani, many a times, but it is only at some particular time, after some time, that we get the right meaning or understanding. Guru Sahiban, are the epitomes of Truth, but how many of us do we get what they want to convey us? We keep on giving round abouts many many times here and there, that also, when Guru Sahiban have kept the Truth in simple and plain words, in front of all of us. They also, want us to follow Gurmat implicitly, for our own benefit, but most of us fail to their expectations from us, not only as sikhs, but even as human beings. We all carry our heavy load of karam upon ourselves, our chit is not that clean, to understand the pure paviter Bani of Guru Sahiban. To reach a minnimum required purity, we regularly need the cleanser of His Name, through His devotion. If we keep regularity in it, for sure, we will understand their anmol bachans, and also get nearer and nearer to Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Once we stay in His Hukum, we achieve such a state of mind, that then, we see Him in all and everywhere, then that our perception of difficulty in teaching others the goodness of the Bani and Gurmat, ceases to bother us, for we see His hukum in action in all. Sat Sree Akal.
  14. This is the most foollish and consciousless answer, can a expert in nonsense give like this poster, full of arrogance, ego and wickedness. Verily the sign of a totally corrupted conscience. Well what else can be expected from a cheap chap like you? Better, first you go to the Guru or the panj pyare, to give you a cure for this your chronical disease of foolishness.
  15. Guest Jee, there is still time, if you forgot something, go and tell it now, Being truthful and honest, is having the scale of dharam on your side. You see, any pleasant or unpleasant situations in our lives, are due to our own past karam. Nothing, absolutely nothing can change destiny. You see, whether we like somethings in our lives, or do not like it, even then without our wishes, those things, those situations will surely take place, so brother, if ever we have to do Ardaas to Guru Jee, let it be, to have only atoot pyaar and sharda, at His Lotus feet. Sat Sree Akal.
  16. Just peep silently deep into your heart, you will hear the voice of your conscience, telling you if you have done anything wrong or not. Most of us know already what is right or not, but if ever any doubt, just remember, anything which takes you away from Wahiguru, that is "paap", that is sin, and on the contrary, anything which takes you nearer to Wahiguru, that is "punya" Also, any karam done under the influences of the panj chor: kaam, krodh, lobh, moh and ahankar, is nothing else, but for sure bad karam, and as such, we need to ask for forgiveness from Wahiguru. Sat Sree Akal.

    Jealousy

Dear Guest Murakh, below is some useful information I found on your topic of jealousy, which I am sharing here , hope it helps you to "see" things related to you from it, and get the solutions also by not getting traped by this bundle of negative emotions. With a clearer perspective, being jealous, is in a way, unconscioussly doubting Wahiguru. Thanks to Guru Jee, we all know, nobody gets more, nor less, than what is written in destiny for each one of us. So, then why to be jealous? Or, what for? Life is quite fair, though we may not be aware of it., in its full measure. Jealousy is described as the emotional attitude of wishing not to lose something that is important to the subject’s self-definition to someone else (Ben-Ze’ev, 1990, pg. 489). An ancient and primitive emotion, jealously can lead to impulsive or reckless decisions, the creation of harm, the ruin of relationships, and an overall destructive state of mind. As with most emotions, it manifests itself differently from individual to individual, but most would agree that when experienced, it can often be overwhelming. Jealousy can also manifest itself in relationships between siblings, friends, supposed social rivals and many other affiliations. The causes of jealousy vary from situation to situation, but are all associated with one feeling that something of value that they possess could be lost to another. The primary effects of jealousy are usually emotional and experienced by the individual alone. Secondary effects arise from how the subject reacts to that emotion. In today’s society jealousy can be sparked by a potential threat to one’s mate, social standing, emotional and physical well-being or resources. Infidelity, or the threat of infidelity, can cause extreme jealousy in both males and females. If an individual is in a position of social power and feels that that standing is jeopardized by another, it often rears its ugly head. Sibling rivalry is often a result of jealousy, with siblings vying for parental attention or resources such as food. It also appears in friendships, when one feels that they are losing the attention of their friend to another. Primary responses to jealousy are both emotional and physical. Sadness, anger, depression, hopelessness and feelings of unworthiness are just some of the emotions that result from it. Crying, increased pulse rate, sweating and shaking are some of its physical symptoms . Feeling jealous is a natural reaction if one feels that their current state of well-being is threatened by another. What is perhaps more important is how one reacts to the negative emotions elicited by this emotional state. The primary effects of jealousy affect only the individual experiencing the emotion whereas the secondary effects (how that individual reacts) can influence the subject or subjects of jealousy. There are myriad examples of jealousy being explored in literature throughout human history. Cinderella is made to slave away for a jealous stepmother and step sisters in the famous fairy tale, and Shakespeare immortalized the destructive effects of the emotion in many of his plays, but perhaps the most poignant example was the cautionary account of Othello. Protagonist Othello reacts to his jealousy with rage which results in the death of the woman he loves. He later finds that she was not unfaithful, as he had suspected. Long before and long after the time of Shakespeare many individuals have reacted to jealousy in such a way. In various studies, this strong emotion was found to have been one of the top three motives for non-accidental homicides where the motive is known (Harris, 2004, pg. 62). Although an individual’s reaction to jealousy is not always to a murderous extreme, it serves as an example of how strong an emotion can be. Other effects of jealousy include a decrease in one’s perceived self-worth, emotional instability, feelings of bitterness, the breaking of relationships, prolonged depression and extreme anxiety. The history of jealousy may date back to the very beginnings of modern man. It is a primitive response to any potential threat to one’s overall emotional and physical well-being. Feelings of jealousy are unavoidable, but it is critical to examine one’s emotional response to any stimuli and react with a clear and conscious mind. Emotions are temporary, but actions are irrevocable. Sat Sree Akal.
  19. Paranoid Personality Many men and women get jealous, but their jealousy actually stems from an overall paranoid approach to many things in life. While paranoia at the most severe end of the spectrum takes the form of Schizophrenia-Paranoid Type, the vast majority of paranoid individuals fall toward the milder end of this spectrum. Many men and women have some paranoid characteristics but their paranoia isn’t severe enough to meet the diagnosis of full-blown paranoid disorder. Men and women with mild or moderate paranoia have great difficulty trusting others and often infer malicious intent to others’ motives. They frequently have a personality type that leads them to feel victimized and persecuted, frequently feeling that others are out to get them. They often feel that others are trying to sabotage them, their goals, or their career. They also often perceive that others have put them down, rejected them, or patronized them, even when witnesses tell them otherwise. Finally, men and women with a paranoid personality style are often blamers, assigning blame to others as opposed to looking inward and accepting accountability for their own flaws or mistakes. Too often, they get jealous, and grasp onto a strong belief that they are the only right—and no amount of evidence can convince them otherwise.
