  1. WJKK WJKF Sad Sangat Ji The British Sikh School requires four more Year 7 pupils to secure the September 2015 target - if you are interested or can raise this issue within Wolverhampton Sangat. Please contact Mr Raminder S Vig (Principal) on 07917 331566 for further information. WJKK WJKF
  2. WJKK WJKF With Maharaj Ji's Kirpa I am very pleased to say that we have been welcomed with open arms at The British Sikh School. Although my son's needs cannot be met in the current provision we are in the process of developing a Special Unit ready for September 2016. This would accommodate a maximum of six students encompassing an ABA teaching method. The focus would be on communication, social and functional skills with additional therapies. The age group would range from 11-16 years of age. If you are interested or can offer any support please do get in touch. WJKK WJKF
  3. WJKK WJKF As a parent of Sikh child who is on the higher rate for mobility and care needs I have to say it's disappointing to see how judgemental some of your views have been. I always say to my neurotypical healthy children that there is no such thing as a stupid question - but really! This is why we don't see that many Sikh kids/adults with disabilities in our communities and why everybody has the urge to blame someone or something. Everything is God's will and our lives are truly enriched and have witnessed the power of prayer (ardas). We seem to take one step forward and then two huge backwards again. If its in you to help then just please do it with purity in your hearts. Whatever your views are it should not effect the outcome. Thank-you UKLondonSikh for your wisdom. It's said that you can judge a civilised society by the way it treats its vulnerable and disabled - it will be interesting to see how India fair in the forthcoming London Paralympic Games. WJKK WJKF
  4. WJKK WJKF Just wanted to confirm that families like mine experience ignorance and discrimination outside of the Sikh community. One example of this is when I took my son to be admitted as a day patient at Birmingham Children's Hospital where the nurses were so rude. My beloved late brother was shocked at their lack of support. The nurses had no autism training and we received a letter of apology and a Disability Steer Group was set up. I also know that because my son is not blonde haired and blue eyed he is a double target. Our lives are full of challenges and hope (for all). Sangat Ji, these issues are a lot worse for families/individuals in certain parts of the world and I do my best to remember them in my ardas. WJKK WJKF
  5. WJKK WJKF Penji Tanvir Kaur I was overwhelmed when I read your post. It needs to be said that your brother is also blessed to have a loving sister like you. With Waheguru Ji's kirpa I hope that you get the support you all need. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing your experience - I feel more confident about the future. Your right our faith keep us all going and I will share your post with my extended family (love the veer ji reference). God Bless you and your family. Wonderful post from RebelSingh. This education needs to be provided in the Sikhi Camps and Sikh Schools. I had a very positive experience with my son on our last visit to the Gurdwara - its truly spiritual when we all work together. We are not looking for pity or special treatment just equality and compassion. I have a lot to learn myself so bhul chul mauf karoh. I believe the 'solutions' to some of our practical issues will be resolved (from perhaps a fresh prospective) - especially after reading the posts from The Paneer Monster and OnlyFive. WJKK WJKF
